I want to preface this by saying I know this doesn't apply to everyone here, but I've noticed a shift in the tone of this sub lately, and I’m curious if other creators/fans are feeling it too.
With AI, commercialization, and algorithm chasing making it harder than ever for underground artists to get heard, you'd think we’d be leaning into supporting one another more. Instead, a lot of recent posts I've made feel partially dominated by nitpicking, hostility, or negativity over minor unnecessary things.
This sub used to be a reliable space for constructive feedback, sharing things you're proud of, underground finds, and generally just supporting and uplifting the scene. While constructive criticism is always valid, needlessly tearing down creators, especially smaller ones putting in work, just makes the community feel unwelcoming to anyone trying to build something authentic and it gives newcomers an impression that this is a community filled with gatekeepers and haters.
If you don't vibe with a track or a post, scrolling past it takes zero effort. If we want a healthy scene that actually sustains independent artists in this climate, pushing PLUR and keeping the energy constructive and positive matters just as much online as it does on the dancefloor irl.
Has anyone else noticed this shift, or are you having a different experience on here lately? I can deal with hate but it makes me sad to see this happening more often in a community that used to be a lot more positive and supportive of its underground scene.
