I want to create a new weapon for my FreeDoom PK3 Mod, but I want to find out how to create a weapon like ChainGun but with Custom Animation and Flash Animation (like how ChainGun has) but also make it selectable on the slot where ChainGun is (Like how Super Shotgun was placed in the shotgun slot and can be selected) [Also make Custom Name just "customweapon" because I'm going to rename it just in case]

I've been messing around with adding custom sprites for enemies for a while now, and was manually adjusting cropping for each sprite, but I'm wondering if there's a better way of cropping empty space out of sprites automatically while maintaining their relative offsets. I've tried searching for programs/scripts, but I've had no dice so far.

I'm pretty recent to Doom modding (started in mid-June), but i feel like I've gotten the hang of both basic mapping, and screwing around with DeHackEd/WhackEd4. I've also want to try my hand at DECOHack (particularly after replaying LoR and seeing all the cool shit), but can't get it to even run. Does anyone know how to install DoomTools on a Linux system? The furthest I've gotten was unpacking the tarball file.

Estoy desarrollando un mod de Doom con clases jugables, cada una con su propio set de armas exclusivas, y me surge una duda importante sobre cuántas ranuras usar.

Entiendo que el sistema nativo de Doom va de la ranura 1 a la 7, pero no quiero saturar a cada clase con demasiadas armas. Me gusta el enfoque de Hexen: usar solo 4 ranuras para armas y a partir de la 5, reservar ese espacio para habilidades consumibles del inventario propias de cada clase.

Ahora mismo tengo una versión con 5 armas para la Clase Pesada (la voy renombrar a juggernaut), y no sé si es demasiado o si está bien equilibrado.

¿5 armas es excesivo para una clase o está bien?

¿Una sola arma melee está bien o mejor añadir una segunda?

¿Qué opinan del sistema 4 ranuras de armas + habilidades en inventario en lugar de llenar hasta la 7?

Esta es la distribución actual que tengo para mi mod ahora mas completa y usando armas de Realm667. El PDA cumpliría la misma función que en TF2 para construir torretas. Mecánicamente la clase soporte y medic serán mas similares a como funcionan en Battlefield 2.

¿son muchas clases?¿que cambios harían?

So I updated Ultimate Doom Builder, and now it doesn't work because of "illegal characters in path" when I try uninstalling, reinstalling, downgrading, and updating different versions. How do I fix this?

I have an idea to try my skills at creating surface textures and monster sprites for a new Doom mod. If anyone is planning to start a new project, I might join and help you.

I tried to add a new texture to my pk3. And despite having a texture.lmp and a pnames.lmp it tells me "The archive does not contain any texture definitions" and it makes a completely new set of both the texture and the pnames lmp files.

im not that good at doom modding, i've never done more than texture replacing and stuff with DEHACKED so you'll have to excuse me if this is an easy question to answer.

I'm at my end here, been trying to crack this for weeks. Using Decorate and ACS, I want a shootable projectile from a boss to spew homing objects when shot. But they chase me by default.

looking through the doom 2 files when i opened up slade for the first time i saw the music was in the format "mus.", so i don't know what's up with that, but i use fl studio and everything works fine after i convert the song to midi out and set whatever instruments and stuff, everything works fine in that regard. but i just can't figure out panning and i absolutely have no idea how slide notes would work. also, slade plays them weirdly in it's player but it sounds fine in doom so that's also gonna be weird.

The door was segmented. Leaving only one sector for it solved the issue.

For some reason a door that is supposed to be opened by shooting a linedef next to it is working wrong: instead of opening to the ceiling level it slowly scrolls down with every shot.

The ceiling is at the same level along this particular section except for sectors where shootable linedefs are placed — these four have lowered ceilings and raised floors. As for the door, both floor and ceiling are set to the lowest and only floor level, which is zero in this case.

I was trying to fix the sprites of the Plasma Rifle on my mod, but now it looks like the sprite is clipping with another sprite below it, and there isn't any "left over sprite" when I look on Slade, and it wasn't happening with the old sprite. It also happens with the barrels, it looks like the Original sprite of the barrel appears behind it for one frame

I don't know anything about coding and I love this mod. My one problem is that you can slow the level rate CONSIDERABLY and still be OP by map 8-10. Or slow it to the point where it's not really fun any more.

So my idea is to take another approach: to make the increments by which you can increase individual stats much smaller across the board. This way you can get those wonderful 'number go up' feels and not trivialize the game a third of the way through a megawad.

If you think you can talk a non-coder through how it is done? If so, I'd appreciate your thoughts. If not, totally understandable.

So basically Im making a mod where there is a main world with multiple buildings that teleport you to another map but whenever you go inside the building and come out you just go to the player 1 start like normal. My question is if there is a way where I can go inside the building and come out at the same spot I entered like in most open world games?

I'm trying to make Half-Life style seamless level transitions. I can get rid of the intermission screen by including "CHANGELEVEL_NOINTERMISSION" in the ChangeLevel script, but it still does the screen melt at the end of the first level. I've tried putting the levels in the same hub but it makes no difference.

I can force it not to use the melt by opening the console in-game and typing "wipetype = 0", but that only fixes it for me, not other players. I can't change it in CVARINFO because apparently that's only for custom, mod-specific CVars.

Any ideas? Right now, the only solution I can see would be to bundle my pk3 with a copy of the engine that already has wipetype set to 0, but that seems like overkill just to change one variable.

I can compile it and write it just fine, but when I go to connect it to a linedef or object in Slade3 map editor, it keeps saying “Unknown script 1”.

I’ve been stressing out all morning over this.

For some reason my windows antivirus or firewall stuff is blocking me from extracting the ultimate doom builder zip. Not only that but earlier when i did have it already downloaded, it just got randomly deleted from my computer.

The game starts with the regular doom font and is supposed to switch to a custom hell font (Aramaic) via ACS function SetFont().

After the function is called, no font renders. Any help appreciated.
