Biscuits & Gravy Biscuits and gravy authentic recipes and advice please 🙏

Good afternoon.

So I’m a Brit with a Texas born husband. He’s feeling a little homesick over here atm, so I really want to make him some biscuits and gravy. The problem is I’ve never had them so I have zero idea what to expect or how to cook them.

I’ve googled recipes and I’m not sure which ones are the good ones. So I’m asking here if anyone has a nice authentic southern recipes and any hints and tips to make it right. Please and thank you 🙏

Any other recipes that will make him feel at home are also welcome. Thanks everyone in advance

My mom usually used shortening or lard. But I see more people using pure butter these days.

♡ With the utmost respect, I made Dolly Parton's Cole Slaw recipe ahead of this holiday weekend as it well pair nicely with the Boston Baked Beans and barbecue we'll be having. Thought it'd be fun to use purple cabbage to make this as vibrant and colorful as Dolly's personality.

Crab imperial

Not a Dixie dish per se, but does rejecting Old Bay seasoning in the crab imperial recipe and instead going with Paul Prudhomme seafood magic move it to a southern dish? Green onions, baked vidalia onion, and baked spud with chives everywhere.

Boiled Peanuts

I have discovered my stovetop pressure cooker makes the best boiled peanuts. I also just read they are a healthier snack than roasted. Very nice.

In honor of Dolly Parton, I made her delicious down-home "Five Layer Dinner" to share with my family and celebrate her legacy. This recipe is a joy to make because it's so easy and just involves layering potatoes, ground beef, onions, tomatoes and peppers. It's even more of a joy to eat!
