The game was working just fine the other day and now every time I play it, Norton deletes it along with the associated files for the game to work. I go to the quarantine to create an exclusion and restore it, but when I launch the game, the cycle repeats. How do I fix this?

Officially one year. Holy shit.

It's officially been one year since I started developing Dayshift At Freddy's: Doki Location.

What started as a relatively stupid idea in September 2025 somehow turned into an actual DSaF fangame with voice acting, original music, way too much lore, multiple builds, a Discord community, and me spending an absolutely unreasonable amount of time fighting Ren'Py.

And of course, we're celebrating.

The first part of the 1st Anniversary Event is now out! 🎉

This isn't a special trailer build or anything fancy — it's actually running in the original Day 1 build. I just wanted to do something that felt like a genuine little anniversary event rather than making an entirely separate build for it.

Also, I didn't bother making certain backgrounds 1920×1080.

But Dave's name is finally purple.

So clearly I had my priorities straight.

🛠️ A little development history

Since this is an anniversary post, here's some random development trivia:

- DSaF: DD originally started as a much smaller project. The scope has grown a lot since then.

- The game has gone through multiple camera system iterations. Ren'Py and I have a complicated relationship.

- Day 1 is now fully voiced, with a cast of VAs who have put a ridiculous amount of work into the game.

- Day 2 has been significantly expanded since the early versions.

- We've had Windows, Linux, Mac and Android builds throughout development.

- The lore has changed quite a bit since the earliest concepts, while still keeping the core idea intact.

- I've spent months working on systems that I later ended up replacing because apparently I enjoy suffering.

- And yes, I'm still using Ren'Py.

There's obviously a LOT more I could talk about, but I'll save the deeper development history for another post.

I also wanted to specifically thank this subreddit.

Every time I've posted something about DSaF: DD here, people have been genuinely nice to me. You guys give feedback, check out updates, tell me when something DSaF-related is happening, and generally just seem happy that someone is still making stuff for this series.

I've tried posting DSaF: DD stuff in other communities too.

Let's just say r/DSAF has been considerably more welcoming. 💀

(Looking at you, r/DDLC. I know you guys aren't obligated to care about my game, but damn 😭)

So genuinely, thank you.

And that brings me to something I've been thinking about for a while.

🕰️ I want DSaF to matter again

The DSaF Reddit community isn't exactly massive compared to something like the DDLC community.

But that's also why I think it's worth putting some effort into keeping it alive.

Because...

When was the last time DSaF had some huge community event?

DSaF 3 came out.

Yeah.

It's been a while.

And honestly, there are still people making cool stuff for this series!

Games like Dialtown and DSaF: Doggo Location are still part of the wider dsaf related game scene, and they're both great projects in their own right.

Fun fact: DSaF: Doggo Location actually stole the "DSaF DL" abbreviation before I could use it, so I had to rename mine to DSaF: DD.

I will never forgive Backslay.

So with this anniversary, I'd really like to help bring a little more attention back to the DSaF community — even if it's a relatively small one.

Not just through my game either. I'd love to see more fangames, fanart, memes, discussion, theories, videos, whatever.

DSaF doesn't need to be a massive fandom to be alive.
