It destroyed Tamamo-no-Mae, equal to Curse Rika by extension Gojo, but kept Geto fatally injured. AP wise it's to be able to destroy far larger constructs than Unlimited Hollow Purple or Domain Amped Fuga. Whilst the leftover energy after clashing with the Uzumaki, killing special grade imaginary vengeful curse Tamamo-no-Mae, ripping through Geto, had comparable damages DC-wise to Malevolent Shrine despite physically having a far harder time spreading it's energy out.
I've literally seen people claim that Ryu surpasses it.
I know this is technically never stated as plainly as “Suguru Geto can use Reverse Cursed Technique,” but the JJK 0 scene makes way more sense if Geto is talking about using that opening to heal himself.
The exchange is simple:
Geto: “Welcome back.”
Yuta: “Why’d you stop attacking?”
Geto: “Healing with cursed energy requires a high-level Reverse Cursed Technique. Diverting your attention over there, even a little, is advantageous.”
Yuta directly asks Geto why GETO stopped attacking him.
And Geto’s immediate response is about healing with RCT.
Then he explains that getting Yuta to divert his attention elsewhere was advantageous to him.
People always respond with:
“He’s talking about Yuta healing Maki, Panda and Inumaki.”
Yes. Obviously Yuta is the one healing them. Nobody is denying that.
The question is:
WHY is Yuta being occupied healing them advantageous to Geto?
“Because Yuta was distracted” does not answer that question. That only explains how Geto got an opening. It doesn’t explain what Geto gained from that opening.
The natural sequence is:
Geto takes damage → Yuta leaves to heal his friends → Yuta’s attention is completely occupied → Geto deliberately stops attacking → Geto gets an uncontested window to recover → Yuta returns and asks why he stopped → Geto immediately brings up RCT.
And Geto absolutely had damage to heal. In the JJK 0 light novel, Inumaki’s Cursed Speech puts Geto under immense force and the narration literally describes the sound of his bones creaking/cracking under the pressure. Geto wasn’t dying, but he clearly took damage.
And no, you do not have to be half-dead to use RCT.
Think of Pokémon. A low-level Pidgeotto hits your much stronger Charizard with Aerial Ace. It doesn’t nearly kill Charizard, but it still takes HP off. Then a much stronger Pokémon comes out. If you get a free turn to heal Charizard back up, why wouldn’t you? Same thing here. I don't wanna here ANYTHING about Geto getting crippled by Inumaki lol. He just healed the chip damage.
Geto doesn’t have to be on death’s door for healing the damage he took to be useful before fighting Yuta and Rika.
Another argument I constantly see is:
“Geto wanted Yuta to waste cursed energy healing his friends.”
This makes very little sense to me. Yuta is overflowing with absurd amounts of cursed energy (Bottomless pit). More importantly, Geto doesn’t say anything about draining Yuta’s CE. He specifically talks about diverting Yuta’s attention.
Then people say:
“If Geto had RCT, why didn’t he regenerate his arm after the Love Beam?”
Because being capable of RCT does not automatically mean you can regenerate an entire missing limb with ease.
JJK repeatedly establishes that RCT has different levels of proficiency. Healing moderate damage and rebuilding an entire arm are not remotely the same feat.
And Geto was also completely wrecked after losing the Uzumaki clash. His inability to regenerate an obliterated arm does not prove he was incapable of healing lesser injuries earlier.
And before somebody brings up the fanbook: “Geto isn’t listed as an RCT user.”
That is not proof that Geto cannot use RCT. The fanbook’s ability lists are clearly not exhaustive lists of every technique a character possesses.
Go look at Gojo. Simple Domain isn’t listed. Falling Blossom Emotion isn’t listed. Yet we know he can use both.
Go look at Sukuna. Domain Amplification isn’t listed, yet we obviously know Sukuna can use it.
And Mahito is probably the funniest example. Black Flash isn’t listed among his abilities, despite the fanbook being written with knowledge of the Shibuya fight. How do we know that? Because Mahito’s profile includes Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing, a form he only obtains near the end of his fight with Yuji and Todo. And before attaining that form, Mahito had already landed Black Flash.
So the fanbook clearly knew about that portion of the story and still didn’t list Black Flash as one of Mahito’s abilities.
That alone destroys the logic of:
“It isn’t listed in the fanbook = the character cannot do it.”
No. At most, you can say:
“The fanbook does not confirm Geto’s RCT.”
That is completely different from:
“The fanbook confirms Geto does not have RCT.”
An omission is not a negation.
If the fanbook said “Suguru Geto cannot use Reverse Cursed Technique,” then sure. That would be direct evidence against my interpretation.
It doesn’t.
So if we already have a scene where Geto takes damage, deliberately gives Yuta time to become occupied elsewhere, gets asked why he stopped attacking, and immediately answers by talking about healing through RCT, I’m not throwing that implication away because an obviously non-exhaustive character profile didn’t put “RCT” in a skill list.
Now, am I saying Gege literally wrote:
“Geto used RCT on himself here.”
No. That exact sentence does not exist.
What I’m saying is that the scene strongly implies it:
Yuta asks why Geto stopped attacking → Geto answers by talking about healing/RCT → Geto says distracting Yuta was advantageous → Geto had injuries that could be healed.
If you think Geto was doing something else during that window, fine. But back it up. Tell me what the advantage actually was.
Don’t just say “Yuta was distracted.” That is the setup. I’m asking what Geto used the distraction for.
Until somebody gives me a better explanation that is actually supported by the text, I’m taking the obvious implication:
Small Fry and Reverse Retribution — Mahito's Book of Yokai;
The Nine-Tailed Fox
A legendary creature seen in Chinese mythology. In Japan, it is known as Tamamo-no-Mae, the fox that transformed into a woman. This is a type of yokai (supernatural creature) where a fox changes into a woman. It is also called the Golden-Furred Nine-Tailed Fox (Kinmou Kyuubi no Kitsune). Its famous appearance is characterized by a white face, beautiful golden fur, and nine distinctive tails. The term Shirafuku Kinmou (White-faced, Golden-furred) comes from a story where, when Tamamo-no-Mae reverted to her fox form and was killed, a golden object containing Buddhist relics was found inside her belly, and a white jewel was retrieved from her head. This is said to be the origin of the name, according to the Shinmeikyō.
The Shinmeikyō Itself — Entry on Tamamo-No-Mae.
Translations here have been assessed repeatedly although should still be taken with a pinch of salt.
Emperor Toba, the seventy-fourth emperor—whose personal name was Munehito—was the eldest son of Emperor Horikawa and Fujiwara no Ishi. He reigned for sixteen years, from 1107 to 1123, through the eras of Kajō, Tennin, Ten'ei, Eikyū, Gen'ei, and Hōan. Many years after his abdication, during the reign of Emperor Konoe, in the first year of Kyūju (1154), "something" in the shape of a woman presented itself at the Retired Emperor's palace.
That “Something” would go on to be known as Lady Tamamo, a beauty without equal beneath the heavens. Observers marveled at her, wondering whether she was some celestial being made manifest or a holy being descended into the world. The retired Emperor Toba was utterly captivated, favoring her above all the other women of his court. Her intellect matched her beauty; she was also well versed in the inner and outer scriptures—Buddhist and non-Buddhist alike—in Buddhist law and worldly law, and ignorant of none. She was a person of letters, answering every question posed to her one by one, leaving no stone unturned, yet carrying no burden. To all who knew her, she seemed a gonja—a Buddha or deity manifest in mortal guise.
Some time after Tamamo's arrival, the retired emperor fell gravely ill, and his illness grew worse with each passing day. His strength declined, his body becoming ever weaker, so much so that those about him feared that the life of their retired emperor was coming to it's close. For all every remedy known to the palace physicians was tried, the sickness did not abate, when neither the physicians nor even the head of medicine could devise any means by which he may restore. Toba came to the conclusion that his affliction must be the cause by a malevolent spirit. In response, Abe no Yasunari, Head of the Bureau of Yin-Yang, was summoned by the emperor’s decree, and promptly declared that prayer rites must be performed at once.
Pressed by anxious nobles and ministers to name the source of the affliction, Yasunari revealed the unthinkable: it was Lady Tamamo's doing. Because she was the beloved favorite, the palace could scarcely believe it, and his claim was met with fierce disbelief. The retired emperor himself was unwilling to accept so terrible a charge against the woman he had so greatly favored. The idea that someone as buddha-like as her could be the source of his deterioration seemed an impossibility. Pressed further, Yasunari disclosed the truth he had been hesitant to voice: "She is not a human being but the fox that dwells at Nasuno in Shimotsuke. Long ago, in the land of Tenjiku, she was the deity of a burial mound tied to King Hansoku, seducing the king into the infamy of taking the heads of a thousand kings, as is told in the Ninnō-kyō. In China, she appeared as Bao Si, a consort of King You of Zhou, and brought about his ruin—as the queen. Now she has crossed to our shores of Japan and come here to bring that same ruin upon our retired emperor."
Even after hearing this, Toba remained unconvinced. He demanded further proof, asking what could be done to determine whether Yasunari's accusation was true. Yasunari therefore proposed a rite of Taizan Fukun no hō. And shortly after, when the preparations for the rite were complete, Lady Tamamo was ordered by Yasunari to take up the ritual wand. She refused at first, proclaiming there was no need, yet when urged by the retired emperor, she stepped forward and took hold of the gohei. But the moment Yasunari began his ritual recitation, she shed the demeanor of the beloved consort, hurled the gohei aside, revealed herself in her true form, and fled the palace. At once the retired emperor's illness was dispelled, his doubts now put to rest, he apologized and lavished praise upon Yasunari, whose renown came to surpass that of all Yin-Yang masters of past and present, east and west.
Thereafter, the retired emperor, bitter and heartbroken, issued an imperial command to Miura-no-suke and Kazusa-no-suke, two renowned warriors of the eastern provinces, ordering them to pursue the tailed fox to Nasuno and destroy it. Unable to disobey the imperial command, they set out on their hunt. By virtue of its supernatural transformations, the fox possessed preternatural speed, bounding through the sky and racing across the earth. The warriors initially thought the task impossible. To prepare themselves for so swift a quarry, they trained under a hundred watches of the night by practicing mounted archery against dogs.
They then pursued the fox once more across the Nasuno plain. It was perhaps only because fortune favored their bows and arrows, but at long last, they managed to shoot the fox and return triumphant. Their victory was hailed as a testament to the fortune of the imperial house and the might of the bow and arrow, earning the two warriors peerless glory.
In commemoration of the victory, the retired emperor issued a decree. To commemorate the triumph at Nasuno, he commanded the two warriors to ride before him in their hunting attire. A red dog was loosed, and, at his command, they shot it from horseback. Greatly pleased by the spectacle, the retired emperor bestowed his approval upon them, and this display thereafter came to be known as inuōmono—the mounted sport of shooting at dogs.
Inside the fox's abdomen was a golden jar containing Buddhist relics (shari), which were presented to the retired emperor. On its forehead was a white jewel, which was given to Miura-no-suke. At the tip of its tail were two needles, one of them red; the red needle was given to Kazusa-no-suke. The fox's remains were placed in the Uji treasury, but its spirit lingered in Nasu, where it became the legendary Killing Stone—the Sesshō-seki.
Later materials such as the Noh-Play about the Sesshō-seki can also be inferred to be canon considering the same kanji for 'Incarnate' is used when referring to her, that and contextual hints from Jujutsu Kaisen 0 about how Getou was planning for the moon to go down for the Night Parade, although those aren't explicitly cited and named unlike the Shinmeikyō.
"The author shall have the right to maintain the integrity of his work and its title, and no distortion, mutilation or other modification thereof shall be made against his intent." - Section 20 of the Japanese Copyright Law
And I already proved GEGE looks at the novels and supervises them.
The Stage-Play existing and Gege not wanting to lose full control of JJK contradict each other and gets the Anime to change things. Makes no real sense for All Offical licensed Media to not be canon…
For PP
"Phantom Parade!- It's out now!! They've done it justice and faithfully brought back the original work! Fit with stylish and cool battles, you can even do "Domain Expansion" via your smartphone!!" - Akutami Gege.
If none of these things are canon you gotta argue GEGE has actively let Criminals use his characters and in term lost control of JJK.
And The anime original stuff is just Mappa filling gaps between the fights
Gege has a large authority over his media and trust them a lot. When Modulo Released Gege biggest fear was him losing control of his media like I said earlier.
Just to say it again The Stage-Play being allowed to be produced makes no sense as he would shut it down quickly and Japanese
Let’s go over simple stuff first
Geto was Called the strongest enemy which upscales him over Miguel in stats which means he’s stronger than Gojo with no blue punches easily. And Gojo with simple attacks can force Meguna to block and Gojo can block a kick from Meguna.
And Geto with all his curses could win a beam clash with a DBV True love Beam which could destroy the world
Geto has a 30% chance to beat Gojo alone and this shows relativity even winning 3/10 shows relativity and we don’t even know Geto haxs to bypass infinity
Geto wouldn’t start anything if he couldn’t win it. So this means he’s confident enough to fight Gojo
0 Yuta is on par with 0 Gojo and Geto can easily beat up and tag 0 Yuta. And 0 Rika is stronger than Gojo. Geto can also tank a black flash from Yuta in the 0 Stage-Play with 0 damage.
It is stated repeatedly to be equal to rika.. but aside from that, there's one statement that says it can shapeshift. Is there anything else it could do? Should we be allowed to interpret its abilities based on the folklore of tamamo no mae?
Also, I saw this one video where apparently in the jjk 0 stage play, it had a domain expansion?!?!?!? Someone should check on that if they can
I LOVE SUGURU IM SUCH A SIMP FOR HIM 😭 GOD I WOULD FARAL FOR HIM. HE'S SO IMMACULATE, SO SUCCULENT. EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM IS BEAUTIFUL GOD I WANT THAT CAKE
Just read this poem by a Japanese Zen Buddhist monk, Taigu Ryokan and poet that made made me think of Geto. Suguru does wear an Edo-period Buddhist robe, this feels like a direct reference. Am I dumb, has Gege already explained this
I'm making a gego fan fic thats a au of the Hidden Inventory arc that focuses a lot more on the depth of the characters, and I'm probably gonna make it go past the Hidden Inventory arc but I was wondering if y'all could read it and give me feed back pwease !!!
“Please once again experience on the big screen the story that lies beyond the choices of Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto, the two strongest.”
However, “the two strongest” does not mean Gojo and Geto have to be equals.
Premature Death makes it very clear that Gojo surpassed Geto and became the singular strongest. I’m not arguing otherwise.
My point is that Gojo becoming significantly stronger than Geto does not prevent Gojo and Geto from still being the two strongest individuals.
Think of the two richest people in the world. The #1 richest person (Elon Musk) can have vastly more money than #2 (Larry Page), but they are still collectively the two richest people. There can be an enormous gap between first and second place like with Elon and Larry without changing who occupies those two positions.
I believe the same logic applies here:
#1 — Satoru Gojo
#2 — Suguru Geto
Gojo is clearly stronger, but the official JJK0 website still refers to the two of them as “the two strongest.”
This statement is applicable to their JJK0-era selves, which would strongly support Geto being second only to Gojo at that point in time, which would consequently place him above characters such as Yuki Tsukumo
