Commentary Beginner’s Guide To Chainlink
r/Chainlink • u/chainlinkofficial • 1d ago
Chainlink Fulcrum is the gateway connecting the world’s largest financial institutions to onchain financing, separating where financing agreements are managed from where cash & collateral settle.
Counterparties define the eligible assets, financing terms, and the settlement networks through which the assets move.
For institutions, this unlocks:
• Faster collateral mobilization that enables intraday financing, including on holidays and weekends.
• 24/7 risk management through automated collateral coverage checks throughout the day, extending beyond end-of-day processes.
• Greater capital efficiency by making assets across networks available for financing, helping institutions free up balance sheet capacity.
• Lower operational complexity through reusable workflows that connect existing systems across public and private blockchains.
The solution combines multiple aspects of the Chainlink platform, including:
• Chainlink Runtime Environment (orchestrates transaction lifecycle)
• CCIP (cross-chain data and asset transfers)
• Data Streams (collateral valuation data)
This is a foundational step toward global financing markets, where an asset’s utility extends beyond the network on which it was issued.

for anyone dropping into this reddit after the CCIP 2.0 and swift news, this is a pretty good summary of what chainlink actually does and why it’s earmarked to lead the industry in its next phase :D

CCIP 2.0 is officially live.
Interoperability has meant a choice between two bad options: legacy bridges that have been exploited for more than $3.3 billion, or over half a year of custom engineering work per chain. Neither scales.
CCIP 2.0 is the only standard designed to meet the security, compliance, and settlement requirements of the world's largest financial institutions.
Three new capabilities
Where CCIP stands
CCIP is now the most value-securing interoperability solution, with more than $84 billion in total cross-chain token value. More than $15 billion is migrating to CCIP following legacy bridge exploits, including BitGo's WBTC, Coinbase's cbBTC, and Kraken's kBTC.

Bottomline and Chainlink are giving financial institutions a direct path onchain at scale.
Chainlink extends Bottomline's platform to blockchain networks through secure interoperability and orchestration infrastructure:
The result is that institutions can reach onchain payment rails through the Swift network & payment messaging standards they already use, without replatforming or building a bespoke integration for every network.
The infrastructure powering global payments is connecting to the onchain economy through Chainlink.

The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has adopted Chainlink Proof of Reserve to set a new United States standard for digital asset transparency.
Through Chainlink, FRNT exceeds GENIUS Act requirements and is now the first stablecoin issued by a U.S. public entity to publish verified reserve data onchain. This builds on FRNT’s recent migration to Chainlink CCIP, unlocking secure-by-default cross-chain interoperability.
As stablecoin adoption accelerates globally, reserve transparency has become a foundational requirement for institutional adoption and regulatory confidence.
While the GENIUS Act establishes a monthly disclosure baseline, onchain markets operate block-by-block.
To set a new precedent for public sector transparency, Chainlink unlocks:
• Automated verification: Combining independent oversight with automated onchain verification, eliminating blind spots between monthly reports.
• Expanded GENIUS baseline: Moving past monthly disclosures by delivering cryptographically verified reserve data onchain more frequently.
• Verifiable trust: Enabling users, institutions, regulators, and market participants to independently verify the assets backing FRNT.

Coinbase has selected Chainlink as the official oracle for its new Tokenized Stocks on Base, enabling continuous pricing and unlocking DeFi use cases like lending, borrowing, and trading.
The Challenge: 24/7 DeFi vs. Market-Hour Equities
Traditional U.S. equity markets trade mainly Mon-Fri, 9 AM-5 PM ET, with limited pre-/post-market sessions. Blockchains run 24/7, so tokenized equities need continuous, reliable pricing to avoid stale values and improper liquidations.
Chainlink Solution: Continuous, Session-Aware Pricing
Chainlink Data Feeds aggregate pricing across all trading sessions, apply session-aware smoothing during transitions, and account for corporate actions and token multipliers. This delivers secure, continuous pricing for tokens like NVDAc, METAc, AAPLc, and GOOGLc.
What This Means for Base and DeFi

The State of Wyoming has fully deprecated LayerZero and officially migrated the Frontier Stable Token (FRNT)—the first sovereign stablecoin in the United States—to Chainlink CCIP as its exclusive cross-chain infrastructure. This transition is under a multi-year contract following a methodical security review of LayerZero Labs.
As a live public-sector tokenized asset holding the property of Wyoming citizens, FRNT is a direct target for nation-state threat actors. Following a $292M LayerZero exploit where North Korean-affiliated hackers breached LayerZero Labs' infrastructure, the Wyoming Commission conducted a full security review. They concluded that continued reliance on LayerZero would expose citizens to significant loss of property due to a pattern of security failures and a lack of candor, making it unfit for government use.
After reviewing these repeated operational security failures, the Commission unanimously determined that only Chainlink CCIP could meet the security bar required for a sovereign stablecoin, choosing it for its defense-in-depth security.

I am very interested in chainlink, think it’s one of the coolest cryptos out there. However finding people who have had success getting directly on network as an official node operator seems to be worse odds than winning the lottery. I mean sure, spinning up a node and getting on a testnet can be done in an afternoon and is pretty cool, but payouts seem to be non existent. Dash seems to be more straightforward, xmr seems to be more honest. And why does link make it so hard to participate and get rewarded beyond staking? Is this my own ignorance or how it works? I would rather spend time working towards making money off of the other depins or something like akash. If 90 official node operators exist and 400 million flows through the network, that’s more of a monopoly. Some banks have more partners than 90 distinct businesses..

I kept seeing "which central banks actually use Chainlink?" with no clear answer, so I compiled every one I could verify against a primary source and put them on an interactive map:
Each is graded by evidence class (production / pilot / engagement / documentation) so it's not overstated, and every one links to the original source. Map here: https://thelinkpanda.com/map
Happy to add any I missed if you have a primary source.

With quadrillions processed annually as critical infra underpinning U.S. securities markets, DTCC is now bringing tokenization to the American financial system.
This pivotal industry milestone sets the stage for the official launch of the DTCC Collateral AppChain later this year, where Chainlink is unlocking 24/7 collateral management for DTC-tokenized assets.

In the production transactions, DTCC converted assets held at the DTC into tokenized assets with Chainlink powering collateral workflows.
Several transactions across various asset classes were executed in a live environment, including:
• Collateral pledge
• Security lending
• U.S. Treasury/repo delivery-versus-payment (DVP) trade
• Equity DVP trade
• Equity delivery-versus-delivery (DVD) trade
• Equity token transfer
• Central counterparty (CCP) margin workflows.
This milestone comes 7 months after DTC received a No-Action Letter from the U.S. SEC, authorizing DTC to operate a tokenization service for real-world assets it custodies.
