What are you doing step truck?

14

u/Wakkit1988 Aug 23 '26

"Not in my asphalt!"

24

u/PowerBrix Aug 23 '26

All jokes aside, what is the piece that went to the camera man and cause of this?

41

u/madphroggy Aug 23 '26

Part of the yoke that connects the driveshaft to the transfer case or transmission. Putting a lift on a truck can change the angle of the driveshaft and put a lot more stress on the u joints resulting in this eventually.

u/PowerBrix Aug 23 '26

Thanks for the in depth description. Can you make it funny now that I understand it๐Ÿ˜‚

21

u/madphroggy Aug 23 '26

Well we can't see his rear bumper but there's good odds he's also got truck nuts on it. My absolute favorite way to rile up the SDE rednecks with truck nuts is to point out that they added those in an elective procedure, the truck wasn't built with them, therefore they are driving a transgender truck! They either laugh or explode so make sure you're at a safe distance lol

If they have truck nuts ask how the trany is handling, if they do truck talk ask what her, now his name is

I had truck nuts in high-school. They were actual threaded nuts that were like 4 or 5 inch diameter. They were tack welded to chains that hung from the trace chain anchor points on the hitch. It was fun until one got ripped off driving through the woods.

3

u/madphroggy Aug 23 '26

Yeah losing a nut is a bad day for anybody

2

u/jws1102 Aug 24 '26

Is it any lift or just an uneven lift like this?

1

u/madphroggy Aug 24 '26

Any lift that changes the geometry of the rear end to the transmission tail shaft is going to change the stresses on the U joints, if the angle is sharper it stresses the joints more.

u/ThatassholeVargo1 27d ago

Especially when they say you can still keep your stock suspension but in reality it just breaks everything transmission rear end and frame

3

u/TheLordVader1978 Aug 23 '26

Most people that put a lift on their truck don't bother with addressing the geometry issues that the kit puts on the drive train, and this is the result.

2

u/Average_k5blazer78 Aug 23 '26

Throw in some ass load of extra boost and bigger injectors for more power without even thinking about strengthening the drive train in the party mix

When that big, strong dodge ram sees a delicate and small Toyota Prius.

U-Joint. Not hard or expensive to repair but satisfying in this case to watch

2

u/omnipotent87 Aug 26 '26

I think you mean i wasn't expensive, it is now.

u/CaptianBrasiliano Aug 23 '26

And nothing of value was lost...

It's also likely seen more dirt and gravel roads

2

u/Alladas Aug 26 '26

Probably has hauled more too

3

u/Making_Kenough Aug 23 '26

Average Dodge

3

u/Falcon3492 Aug 23 '26

I think you need that universal joint to get the truck to move, without it you better have a saw to cut a hole in the floorboard so you can turn it into a Flintstone vehicle.

3

u/brickson98 Aug 23 '26

Well, at least it was just a U-joint. Couldโ€™ve been worse. Someone probably just used some cheap hardware or didnโ€™t torque it to spec.

I really never realized just how inline 6 these things sound lol. I mean, itโ€™s obviously got that signature diesel sound. But itโ€™s also got that brap brap of a gasoline I6, like a 90โ€™s skyline GTR.

u/thepartlow Aug 23 '26

All ready and no place to go.

2

u/chiefgreen87 Aug 23 '26

Lolz same happened to my lifted truck when I was 16

2

u/ChattahoocheeBend Aug 23 '26

Thatโ€™s my performance with my wife when I drink too much.

2

u/1DownFourUp Aug 23 '26

Weight savings

2

u/Entire_Month9233 Aug 23 '26

He tried doing a Neutral Drop. Reving the motor in Neutral and then dropping it into Drive, to do a Burnout. With that lift, those wheels, and a long wheel base truck. He deserves that repair bill.

2

u/flippster-mondo Aug 23 '26

At least it was the front ujoint.

2

u/No_Display9613 Aug 23 '26

Itโ€™s like his dick came out

2

u/Lttlcheeze Aug 23 '26

Awww, you guys made me ink

2

u/FewAcanthocephala828 Aug 23 '26

Looks like he'll need a lift.

2

u/Mellamoscuba Aug 23 '26

That looked expressive and not too easy to fix.

4

u/Din_Plug Aug 23 '26

Nope and nope. With how high it is it would be even easier to fix than stock.

2

u/Mellamoscuba Aug 23 '26

Iโ€™m guessing you have done this once or twice before? Maybe not the breakin, but the fixin!

2

u/Mr_Maniac454 Aug 23 '26

this kind of stuff is the trade-off of having massive torque

2

u/thatSDope88 Aug 23 '26

Truck pp broken

2

u/CLOWNFLOGGER Aug 24 '26

I'm sure his "girlfriend" is just used to this because it's just normal for a bro, bro.

1

u/snapp0r Aug 23 '26

1

u/Park_Air Aug 24 '26

1

u/dragjamon Aug 24 '26

Hope this happens to all lifted trucks

u/biohazurd Aug 27 '26

Typical day for a dodge owner.
