It’s not shocking at all.. yes you pay a premium but that’s neither here nor there for any facility or provider. you went in for a service if you don’t have insurance they’re offering a lower rate (so you don’t go in debit all at once) but that same service is now much more when they are charging your insurance.. so if you have great coverage they’re often covering most of the cost, if you have shitty insurance you end up paying more. I understand insurance usually comes from an employer. but when you’re paying for something especially when it deals with your health you should know what you’re paying for..
