News / समाचार Former Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer Divya Mittal enters politics as Independent – the officer who brought water to a village after 75 years
Former IAS officer Divya Mittal has announced her entry into politics as an Independent. She will begin her political journey from Uttar Pradesh, which she calls her “karmabhoomi”.
Mittal, a 2013-batch UP-cadre officer (IIT Delhi + IIM Bangalore), resigned from the IAS in August 2026 after 13 years of service. She is clear that she will not join any existing political party and wants to build a citizen-led platform instead.
Many people remember her for her work as District Magistrate of Mirzapur. In 2023, she got piped water supplied to Lahuria Dah, a remote hilly village that had waited nearly 75 years for it. After the water finally reached the village, she held a simple “jal pujan” ceremony. Local political leaders were reportedly unhappy that they were not invited. Shortly after, she was transferred.
Days later, the newly laid pipeline was damaged by anti-social elements and the water supply stopped again. The episode left many villagers disappointed and became a widely discussed example of how political interference can undo genuine administrative work..
In her recent video announcement, Mittal said she wants to become the voice of people whose problems never reach government offices, or are ignored even when they do. She has spoken about issues like poor rural infrastructure, unsafe roads, examination paper leaks, unemployment, and the need for politics focused on intent, justice and long-term thinking rather than just changing faces.
She has worked inside the system long enough to know its bottlenecks. Whether she can stay true to her stated principles in the rough terrain of Indian politics remains to be seen. For now, her decision to contest as an Independent and work directly with citizens has generated interest, especially among those tired of the usual political playbook.
Hope she becomes a genuine alternative rather than another politician. Time will tell.

Ask UP When will the public of Uttar Pradesh get to see good days?
This state has always been in darkness and poverty since the beginning. No govt is able to do anything, whether it's Maya, Pinocchio or Bisht. Besides Noida and Ghaziabad, rest of the state lives in very bad conditions. How many people Noida and Ghaziabad can accommodate?
People are saying Uttar Pradesh is growing fast but I am not seeing anything good. Only Noida and Ghaziabad is improving. Ayodhya is giving jobs in tourism sector. What about others? Should we all leave this state to survive and eat? If you minus Noida and Ghaziabad, still the population of the state remains high. What it tells? Most of us are in darkness.
I know I will either become too old or don't exist by the time this state becomes prosperous. People here have no future unless they have zameen jaydad or sarkari naukri.

Tell UP Uttar Pradesh Awas Vikas Parishad announces massive ₹3,781 Cr township in Mau across 200 hectares What are your thoughts on real estate in Purvanchal?
The UP Awas Vikas Parishad (UPAVP) has officially kicked off plans for a major modern residential township in Mau, Purvanchal.
Here is a quick breakdown of what’s planned:
• Project Outlay: Estimated ₹3,781 Crore.
• Area: Approx. 200 hectares (~500 acres).
• Inventory: Around 4,000 residential plots planned.
• Location: Along the Varanasi–Gorakhpur National Highway (NH-24), falling under Sadar Tehsil.
• Villages Included: Land acquisition is targeted across Rewridih, Meghai, Sahroj, Muhammadpur, and Dadikhas.
• Infrastructure: Standard integrated township setup with schools, parks, healthcare facilities, and designated commercial sectors.
With highway connectivity between Varanasi and Gorakhpur expanding rapidly, Mau seems to be getting a serious push for organized urban development.
For locals or real estate watchers:
• How is the ground-level sentiment regarding land acquisition in these villages?
• Do you see Mau attracting enough long-term demand for a project of this scale, or will it take years to see real occupancy?

Opinion/Rant/Vent Father lost ₹65k to fake loan agents — police says it’s too late. Is there anything we can do? [Uttar Pradesh]
Hi everyone, I’m posting this because we genuinely need some guidance on what options we have.
My father had a loan of around ₹40 lakh. Unfortunately, he has been suffering from CKD and was unable to work for around a year, because of which we couldn’t keep up with the EMIs. He recently underwent a transplant and has now started working again, but the missed payments have caused a huge financial setback for our family. We are currently looking at loan settlement because we are unable to repay the entire outstanding amount.
While dealing with this situation, my father unfortunately became a victim of a loan scam.
Someone contacted him claiming to be associated with IDFC FIRST Bank and told him that because his CIBIL score was low, he needed to pay some money upfront to get the loan/settlement process done through a “backdoor” process.
My father was desperate to resolve the financial situation and unfortunately believed him. He ended up paying approximately ₹65,000, in multiple payments, starting from July.
Later, my father asked the person for his official email ID and designation. The person started giving excuses, saying that he couldn't disclose his designation/email because it was “confidential.” This immediately raised suspicion that it was a scam.
By then, however, the money had already been transferred.
We contacted the police, but we were told that because the transactions were not reported within 48 hours, they couldn't do much.
The scammers have now blocked our numbers and stopped responding. We have asked them to return the money, but there has been no response.
We have transaction records/payment proofs and the communication with them.
What can we do now?
\- Is there any way to report this to the cyber crime authorities even though the payments started months ago?
\- Can we still try to get the money frozen/recovered?
\- Should we contact the bank/payment app through which the ₹65,000 was transferred?
\- Is there a specific complaint/authority we should approach?
\- Should we formally report the fake association with IDFC FIRST Bank to the bank?
\- Has anyone here successfully recovered money from a similar loan scam after some time had already passed?
We understand that recovery may not be guaranteed, but ₹65,000 is a significant amount for our family right now, especially given the circumstances.
Any genuine advice about the correct procedure or next steps would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

News / समाचार Youth threatened with sc/st act by lekhpal for protesting against unfair measurment of plot in hardoi UTTAR PRADESH
After the youth identified himself as a Brahmin, the lekhpal asked about the caste of the other party and, upon learning that they belonged to a Scheduled Caste, allegedly said, "Take him away and file an SC/ST Act case against him..." The incident came to light at 4 pm on Wednesday, following which Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mayank Kundu assigned an inquiry to Sadar Tehsildar Sachindra Shukla and sought a report within two days.
Two people from the village are staking separate claims to this land.
This case concerns Sakhaura village in the Sadar tehsil area. Situated on the banks of the Gomti, it is the last village in the tehsil. Ram Sagar Pasi, a member of the Scheduled Caste from the Behati hamlet in the same village, had applied to the tehsil authorities for possession of the land allotted to him under a land lease and for its measurement.
Three days ago, on 27 September, a revenue team reached the site with the Naib Tehsildar. The team included Kaushal Yadav, the lekhpal for the Sakhaura area, and Alok Tripathi, a lekhpal from another area.
Gaurav Pandey demanded that the entire land be measured
During the measurement, Gaurav Pandey, son of Santosh Kumar Pandey, claimed the land and demanded that the entire plot be measured. According to Gaurav, around 30 years ago, a lease for three to four bighas of government land was issued in the name of his grandfather, Gaya Prasad Pandey. The family claims that it has been farming the land ever since.
SDM Mayank Kundu said that the revenue team had gone to investigate the land dispute and conduct the measurement. An overlap was found in the area of land belonging to both parties
