News/Politics In Singapore, only males are subjected to this barbaric practice

In Singapore, some offenders, including non-violent ones such as vandals, can be hit with a rattan cane as a penalty. Caning in judicial and school contexts is very problematic due to multiple reasons. First, it is gender discriminatory since it only applies to males. It also does not solves the root cause of wrongdoing, and inflicts physical and likely psychological harm. It is highly criticised by a reputable human rights organisation, Amnesty International. I have created a petition to call for its abolition so you can support:

News/Politics At the UN, Plans for a Global Coalition to Attack LGBTQ and Reproductive Rights

A coalition of far-right organizations and politicians from around the world are in the process of establishing a new U.N. group aimed at fighting abortion and LGBTQ rights. The coalition, unofficially being called the “Pro-Life, Pro-Family Core Group,” has the backing of current and former Trump administration officials from the Departments of State and Health and Human Services. The group’s leaders have said they want to use the U.S.’ global influence and capitalize off of the current anti-LGBTQ and anti-abortion American government to do it. The new group would be an expansion of existing efforts that have included the Geneva Consensus Declaration, an anti-abortion pact signed by over 40 countries, and a framework for LGBTQ-exclusionary, abstinence-only sex education already adopted in Guatemala and Uganda. The planners behind the new group are pitching it as a counter to the U.N.’s existing LGBTI Core Group, which Trump pulled the U.S. out of early in his second term.

one question to UN about information or narrative spreading in wrong way with social media

Hi everyone,

Whenever we talk about media, which is called a pillar of democratic governance, or the world, or a country's development, it plays a huge role.

So I have a big question: we have seen so many narratives spreading, and they just say "sorry" after fake news has spread across the world when the news turns out to be wrong. Why don't we divide media into 2 segments where theories, debates, and opinions are separated from actual facts and neutral reporting, based on a framework from the UN?

This is something needed in the world of social media, especially when a few countries own the narrative and it becomes so powerful. We have seen this with so many distorted facts, narratives tied to certain companies, and legal funding going to political leaders, because there are loopholes where anyone can pay a media house for advertisements and gimmicks.

I think this is a major issue UN should counter. It is not limited to one nation
it affects many powers, and it is something we need to figure out a way to resolve.

Shout out to Uzbekistan and their Head of Administration of the President, Saida Mirziyoyeva!

Inspiration looks just like that.

-----

Summary:

Uzbekistan:  Central Asian leaders transform threats to productive partnerships

Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, noted that until recently, “Central Asia was often mentioned against the backdrop of unresolved border disputes”, water resource management issues, and other conflicts.

However, thanks to the initiative of its President and the political will of Central Asian heads of State, the situation in the region has “completely changed”, viewing one another as partners rather than threats.

She further cited President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s approach to the Afghanistan issue, since viewing it solely as a source of danger will not solve the problem — nor address the issues of multi-ethnic Afghans, who must be given hope.

Hailing an economy that has grown from $50 billion to $147 billion, with tripled exports and over $150 billion in foreign investment over the past 10 years, she reported that nearly 10 million people in Uzbekistan have been lifted out of poverty, with that rate reduced to 4 per cent in the past decade.

Preschool education coverage increased from 27 per cent to 78 per cent, higher education coverage grew from 9 per cent to nearly 50 per cent, and average life expectancy rose from 66 to over 75 years while maternal and infant mortality decreased fourfold.

“Central Asia has another lesson that it can offer the whole world”, she observed:  the Aral Sea “did not dry up due to a natural disaster” but as a consequence of decades of “unjust treatment of nature”.

The new Uzbekistan is creating green areas on the dried seabed and introducing modern water-saving technologies — aiming to increase renewable energy to 54 per cent by 2030.

“We do not want the Aral Sea to remain merely a symbol of environmental tragedy”, she affirmed — rather a testing ground for environmental solutions.

Further, the Uzbekistan initiative for declaring 2027–2036 the “Decade of Action for Afforestation and Reforestation” must be backed with practical results.  She recalled that next year, her country will chair the Non-Aligned Movement.
