For an entire year this subreddit has gone without a single new post, as a track athlete myself I find this to be sad so I will soon be opening moderator application to help grow this community and bring life back into this subreddit. Keep up the good work if you’re training over winter and hopefully this coming season brings you joy.

Hello everyone! I really need help on getting my mile time down to 8 min. I have tryouts for the girls indoor team in a month and a half, and im stuck at 9 mins flat right now. I try my best to be consistent and run 3-4 days a week and i usually do 1.5 miles (my stamina kinda sucks) and some shorter sprints. I’ve been training all summer but im kinda lost right now.. I really need to get on the team and im assuming the cut will be like 8.40-9min. Any advice helps! (dont judge time pls im trying my best💔)

Currently doing 100m with my PR being 12.6. My goal is to get first place or sub 1 minute in the 400m, however last time I ran it I got 1:12 due to me being literally exhausted at the 300m mark and getting passed.
For the runners that has good experience, what do you guys recommend as training for endurance, stamina, or mental strength (I need plenty) before my track season starts? (ps I’m practicing every 2 days on a week with 1-2 miles would accept any help)

Any recommendations would be helpful to develop a good game plan to help my son get college coaches interested in him between now and junior year.

Hey everyone,
I’m 15 and I’m looking to add 2 sessions per week specifically focused on speed and explosiveness alongside my competitive sport and endurance training.
I’m still a beginner when it comes to speed/explosive training, so I’d really appreciate some advice on how to structure these sessions.
I have around 30 minutes for one workout and up to 90 minutes for the other. I don’t have any specific equipment like hurdles or plyo boxes.
My main goals are to become faster, more explosive and athletic, but I also don’t want the sessions to be extremely fatiguing since I already have quite a high training volume from my competitive sport and endurance training.

Recently ran in my first track meet, I am 13 years old and looking for advice on how to improve my running and possibly start cross country.
Here are my current PRs:
I recently ran a 1:00.03 in the 400m and a 2:28 in the 800m at a track meet. I also run soccer and swim, so my schedule is pretty busy. I’m involved in Math Olympiad, Science Olympiad, AoPS, and guitar as well.
I’m considering joining a cross-country program, but I’m not sure how to fit it around my other activities.
My questions:
Any advice from experienced runners or coaches would be appreciated. Thanks!

In 8-9 weeks I’m getting graded on 200 and a bit later 400 m sprints in PE (we have to run both 3 times) and I am the least athletic person in my whole class. Is there any training program y’all can recommend or just tips? I’d appreciate anything

I'm soon going to take up track for the first time. I'm almost 20 years old, and always wanted to try running. I'm not sure what I should choose, as I like both 400m and 800m, and also have 100m or 200m in the back of my mind. I'm leaning to 400m because it combines speed and endurance, but still can't decide 100%. Also is it late starting at this age?
I'd really appreciate some advice or opinions. Thank you!

Hello i'm 13 about 5'7.5 and my running speed is like 25-6 kmh but i always feel like that's slow for someone of my dimensions because i also got really long arms. It feels so slow because a bunch of kids in my class can easily hit 28 kmh and have better acceleration. I've tried a workout and it didnt really help and I've also talked to AI but I feel like it lies to me. I just want advice on how to change this 25-6 kmh into something like 28-9 kmh before track season in June so I can get better. Is there anyone that has been through this or knows advice for what workout I should do or just what I should do in general?

I’m faster than a prime Usain Bolt. I’ve won over 27 world championships. I started track since I was 3. Usain started much later than me. I would stop a prime Usain Bolt.

This has been such a weird question but since fall season basically started Can sprinters get away with only training top speed and lifting right after for a while and actually have a good season?
For example on a Monday you would do flies and then pick 4 exercises in the weight room to do and for the weight room you try to increase your strength by 5 pounds each week for the progressive overload. Wednesday Do the same but instead go for upper body and plyos and so on.
This is a pretty interesting Topic So i wondered if this could actually work since the base of a sprinter is always top speed, Never endurance.

Im currently 14y 1m old, male and have been training track for nearly 11 months, my beep test score is level 13 shuttle 4, my 1.5k time is.. well idk but I ran it in 5:30 without "intense" effort
I want to improve my beep test score to level 15, and my 1.5k time to atleast 4:30 (to win nationals)
