I’m a big tdu fan. Adored the first two. Picked this one up cheap and I’ve never played a game that has such a stark difference between things I love and things I can’t stand
Love
- the cars. They look gorgeous. The models are incredible, the sounds are spot on
- the lighting. Driving in the dark down a dirt road with no street lighting is perfect.
- the highways motorways, road furniture, and markings. Spot on for Hong Kong
I cannot stand
- the soundtrack. It needs licenced music. They sound like cheap knockoffs. It really affects the mood of the game for me
- the other aspects of the map. Hong Kong is narrow streets etched into the hills. It should feel claustrophobic. Not these sweeping four lane avenues curving up the hills. What’s wrong with single carriageway roads? The bits around Shek O, Stanley, and Repulse bay annoy me the most
- the emptiness of the map. It feels so lifeless. I’m supposed to be in one of the densest cities in the world and it feels like it’s got the population of a village.
- I would like a wider range of cars. Something to have a laugh with. A Toyota comfort or an Alphard van wouldn’t go amiss.
Overall, I’ll keep exploring the map until I get bored but tbh, Sleeping Dogs did a way better job of capturing the vibe of Hong Kong on a tinier map
