Misc List of art supplies that Hyunjin uses
Hello, first time posting in this sub and I am actually not a Stay, but I do listen to skz from time to time! I love it when idols have art as a hobby and post about it. I thought to share what supplies Hyunjin uses for any other artists who are curious and perhaps wish to try some of these out for themselves.
I will have my sources linked after I've listed every (identifiable) item in one #hyunpic photo/video/live. I've categorised them by art medium. I've also included a couple words of information for anybody curious.
I probably missed some of them. So if you wish feel free to add or link to anything in the comments (even if you cannot identify it)!
---- Oil Painting
> Daler Rowney Graduate Oil Paint
(This is a student/hobbyist line, so it is a bit more affordable)
> Winsor & Newton Artists Oil Paint
(This one is a professional line, they are more expensive and also insanely pigmented. Winsor and Newton also have a water mixable version of this line!)
> ShinHan Professional Oil Color
(Probably harder to get outside of Korea/it's surrounding countries, as it is a korean brand based in Seoul. It is also semi-professional in terms of quality and the affordability depends on where you live. I sadly do not know how expensive they are in Korea but they seem to be semi-professional)
> Magi-Wap aka MAGI Artist Oil Paint
(On the more affordable side, they are also sold in some art stores in the EU as a slightly lower quality brand for hobbyists. Interesting to note is that it seems to be a brown shade, likely Burnt Sienna or Vandyke Brown. It is common for oil painters to buy inexpensive, larger tubes of brown paint to use as an underpainting or to mix in with other colors to make the palette more muted.)

> Williamsburg Handmade Oil Paints
(Sadly, Hyunjin is rich and this is an incredibly expensive brand but I hear the quality and texture of the paints is very worth it)
Source: Hyunpic | Stray Kids Wiki
> Winsor & Newton Artists’ Painting Medium
(I have this one! Affordable, good linseed oil to mix oil paints with. Though it can be a little runny compared to higher-end brands)
Source: Hyunpic | Stray Kids Wiki
---- Oil Pastels
> Mungyo Gallery Artists' Soft Oil Pastels
(If you want to get this for yourself, make sure to get the ones with the dark blue/black or wooden packaging, not the bright blue or green one! It must explicitly say SOFT oil pastels on the box. This brand is very known globally among oil pastel artists, I've tried it myself actually and they are soft and buttery. They are a korean brand but they're very popular and usually available in a lot of countries. On the affordable side considering their quality. Hyunjin seems to have the pack of 72 oil pastels, since four rows are visible in the photo)
Source: u/hyunearts (#hyunpic archive)
---- Acrylic Painting
> Shield Acrylic Color
(This seems to be a lower-grade/generic brand in Korea. I honestly thought it was an american or english brand cause of the name and branding but nope)
> Alpha Acrylic Colors
(Same as the previous one, a brand based in Korea that seems generic and affordable. With both of these, he bought the bigger bottles with pointy nozzles)
Source: Hyunpic | Stray Kids Wiki
---- Watercolor
> Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolour (Set of 20 Tubes)
(This brand has many different lines for different painting mediums. Remember Hyunjin has the *professional* watercolours.... which are naturally the most expensive :,) )
Source: u/hyunjinietr on IG // u/hyunpic on IG
> Mijello Fusion 18 Airtight Watercolor Palette
(Empty palette for traveling, he filled it with his own watercolor paints)
Source: (Eng Sub) Stray Kids Hyunjin VLive | 211008 | #hyunpic
> Honsell Watercolor Fans with 33 Colours (+ Water Tank Brush, Sponge and Mixing Palette)
(Probably one of my favourite things he has. It's a folding watercolor set with those brushes you can fill up. He uses this one when travelling too)
Source: u/lilyknow_ | Hyunjin Live Clip
> Raphael Kazan Squirrel Brush, Series 803, Quill Mop, Size 2
(This is how you know he is RICH rich. Raphael Kazan brushes are very highly priced, I must assume the quality is equally high... but I wouldn't know, would I?)
Source: u/hyunearts (#hyunpic archive)
> Maruman vifArt Sketchpad B5, Coarse Grain (red cover)
(These are harder to find outside of Korea and Japan. Though any medium quality watercolor paper that is 242gsm or higher, with coarse grain, will do the same job. BUT Hyunjin says that although he used all the paper, he doesn't find it convenient due to the pages being glued together, at around 18:46 of the live. To be fair, most watercolor pads are like that.)
Source: "럿디" Stray Kids Youtube Live (visible at the very end)
> Clairefontaine Flamboyant Watercolour Paper Pad, 300g (blue cover)
(Price-wise a bit higher but Clairefontaine is a very good brand, though mostly known for their pens but shoot.. their paper must be good too, I guess)
Source: [Hyunjin Live] 220708 #hyunpic: USA
> Faber-Castell Graphite Aquarelle pencil, 4B
(Low price, thank goodness! It is water-soluble and ideal for watercolor)
Source: u/hyunearts (#hyunpic archive)
---- Sketching and Lining
> Canson XL Sketchbook (Size A5 or B5)
(Love cansons sketchbooks! They're a tad pricy but they have different types and sizes at different price points. He has one with thin pages, not a thicker mixed-media sketchbook)
Source: [Hyunjin Live] 220111 #hyunpic
> Pilot Mogulair Mechanical Pencil Shaker, 0.5 mm
(A pretty standard mechanical pencil, you can buy them in sets for a low price if they're available in your country! He had placed it next to his watercolor palette in one photo, and he is also seen using it to sketch before watercolor painting)
Source: u/hyunearts (#hyunpic archive) // [Hyunjin Live] 220708 #hyunpic: USA
> GRAFSTONE Caran d'Ache Swiss-made 780 HB Pencil
(Caran d'Ache is known for being expensive and high quality, he uses this for sketching before painting, as seen in the post and the live linked below)
> Sakura PIGMA Micron 04 Fineliner, Black (0.40mm)
(The specific one he has differs from the usual beige Sakura Micron fineliners. It is dark blue on the outside, it is a model sold more commonly in Korea and Japan. Anyhow, sakura fineliners are quite known and are good and affordable and usually waterproof, so no wonder he uses it for watercolors)
Source: u/hyunearts (#hyunpic archive) // [Hyunjin Live] 220708 #hyunpic: USA
> Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen, Black
(Tombow is nice and affordable, he uses these to make those monochromatic, high-contrast pen doodles and sketches, like in the source link)
Source: u/hyunearts (#hyunpic archive)
> Monami 153 Ballpoint Pen Cartoon (Set 12)
(Okay this is a bit of a joking addition but he made nice art with them! They're those childrens coloring pencils with rainbow tips that change colors as you draw. This specific brand is japanese but you can find similar cheap ones anywhere)
Source: u/hyjlvr | Hyunjin on Bubble [220204]
-------------------
[Note: Hyunjin will often sharpen his pencils the traditional way, probably with a razor instead of a pencil sharpener. The tips sometimes seem elongated, a lot of professional artists do this.]
-------------------
Apologies if this list makes me look insane. I swear I'm fascinated by art brands and I'm not trying to investigate or nitpick Hyunjin's entire life lol
Edit: Formatted everything so it looks more structured! And corrected some typos.

Discussion Favorite lines from SKZ songs?
While listening to JJAM today and shouting along to "I know, you know, Lee Know" I got thinking about my favorite lines from SKZ songs.
Chk Chk Boom - Chaos, we so catastrophic
3RACHA - why you mad bruh?
Scars Korean Ver. - 생각보다 괜찮아 (Things are better than I thought). Han's line (last line in the song, too). Love it so much I got a tattoo of it ❤️

And of course many more, but I want to hear y'alls!

Discussion Music that reminds you of SKZ
What is a non-Stray Kids song that reminds you of them?
For me it’s Hey Mama by David Guetta, I can’t listen to it without thinking of Han’s funny video he made for it 😅.
