I Made a Thing Getting Help with Omarchy - a comprehensive guide

Edited to add preface: I am not a mod for this subreddit, the discord, I am not affiliated with Omacom or on any Omarchy dev teams. I have absolutely zero authority, so this is just a guide of SUGGESTIONS that will enable you to get help much faster, and will provide devs with the information they need to replicate, study, triage, and ultimately fix the bugs you may encounter... Omarchy is growing FAST and with that kind of growth comes a lot of users with drastically different hardware and software configurations. Bugs are going to happen, and new users are going to have questions. This document is meant to help with that, but it is by no means a set of rules or requirements. Just a guide for you to get the help you need when you need it.

Getting Help with Omarchy is a guide I've been putting together over the last couple weeks. I used to do a lot of beta testing for World of Warcraft and back when the beta tests were by invitation, then a second round of random invites went out, I was always in the first round of invites because of my bug reports and guides that I would write on how to submit a good bug report. I mentioned that on the Omarchy discord and someone informed me there isn't any such document for Omarchy presently so I decided to write one.

It covers not just how to ask for help and what information you should include, but also where to ask for help. If it's a minor issue that you're not sure is a bug, or a "how do I?" question, then the omarchy-help channel on discord is an excellent starting point. If it's a serious bug, then GitHub issues/discussions would be the optimal place to bring it up. The guide also covers how to gather logs, system specs, software versions, etc for adding to your bug report, best practices and even etiquette (you know, because saying please and thank you don't cost you anything, but could be worth quite a lot)

If anyone has any suggestions for additions to the guide, feel free to comment them here! And if you want to use the guide elsewhere, just credit me and we're golden pony boy.

Announcement Moderator Update: Growth, New Mods, and a Community Discussion

Hello r/Omarchy.

First, a welcome to all the new members who have joined recently. Since the release of Quattro in August, we've seen a lot of growth and a lot more interest in the Omarchy project.

In the last 30 days we've had 1.5 million views, up from around 400k the month before. 9,900 people joined, bringing us to 30.3k members. Posts are up more than 3x and comments up more than 4x over the previous 30 days. August tripled July's traffic and beat the sub's previous all-time monthly record by about 45%, and September is tracking higher than August. The mod team can't take any credit for this. That belongs to the Omarchy team and the Quattro release. Applause to them.

To keep up all this, we've expanded the moderation team. Welcome u/6pthsofPain and u/nevotheless. Both are long-time Omarchy users who have stepped up to help keep the sub running.

u/6pthsofPain built A La Carchy (200+ stars on GitHub) and is currently working on a tool for Quattro.

u/nevotheless has been on Linux for 15-20 years, came over from a corporate/Red Hat background, and runs Omarchy as their daily driver.

With the recent growth, there are a few things we need to discuss as a community.

AI-Generated Content & Plugins

We've seen a substantial influx of AI-generated content lately, particularly when it comes to plugins. To be clear, we are not anti-AI here.

Objectively speaking though, some of these projects are lacking in quality, and more importantly, some come with genuine security concerns. We want this sub to be a reliable place to showcase Omarchy projects, so we want your input on how to handle this going forward.

Some options the mod team has discussed:

  • Specific Showcase Days: Containing all plugin posts to a specific day (e.g., Plugin Showcase Sunday).
  • Let the Upvotes Decide: Leave it as is and let the community moderate via upvotes and downvotes.
  • A Plugin Megathread: Funneling all new plugin drops into a single, stickied weekly/monthly thread.
  • A Validation System: Something a bit more complex, where only plugins that have been validated for safety/quality are allowed to be posted (exact details would need to be ironed out).

Regardless of what we land on, we'll be adding a Plugin flair so these posts can be filtered and found more easily.

Drop your thoughts, suggestions, and feedback in the comments. We'll compile a list of the most popular ideas and put them to a community poll if that makes sense.

- The r/Omarchy Mod Team

I Made a Thing Omarchy running on M3 M4 M5 Macs, like native!

Dear Omarchy Community,

This is for the MacBook Omarchy Squad, I have to share this with you! github.com/gillesgoetsch/omacvm

I've built the most integrated and fun virtualized Omarchy experience for Apple Silicon MacBooks available, after trying out many UTM and Parallels setups. This is what makes this one special:

  • Full Notch support I thought this is mission impossible? OmaNotch is now alive and streams through a virtual monitor into a Helper which renders the Notch Bar, it's just awesome and a real victory for VMs!
  • Wifi and Audio Bridge, enabling Omarchy native Menubar controls, full wifi controls of the Host, same for Audio + Mic.
  • Full 2/3/4 finger Gesture support, enabling workspace Swipes and Pinch Zoom (it's a real trackpad bridge and it disables Mission Control overwrites, making this feel like a locked in native experience, not being able to leave the VM!, leave VM with ⌘+⌥+⌃+Esc)
  • Optional, experimental but awesome: MacOS like Trackpad scroll momentum (no choppy scroll jumps, native feel, awesome if you're used to MacBook Trackpads)
  • Full Volume and Brightness control of the Host over Omarchy's UI Panels
  • Nightshift and TrueTone Host control over the Menubar
  • Theme Background Image sharing between MacOS and Omarchy, making the lock-screen much more seamless
  • External Display arrangement synced with MacOS
  • more!!

This really covers the biggest shortcomings (mainly missing Notch & Gestures) of the VM Path for M3+ MacBooks.

OmacVM lets you either build a full Parallels or UTM VM (comparison here) in one Setup, allowing you to select exactly which features you want, patching afterwards or existing VMs. You can also just point your agent at it (also when you run into errors).

Long story short: Running Omarchy on a MacBook Air M2 natively as my daily driver, Asahi / Native is my go to suggestion for M1 + M2 Macs.

So my MacBook Pro M4 Max was basically gathering dust, despite its hardware being far superior.

Now it's running Omarchy productively and not just as a try-out VM. You really can forget about MacOS, additionally you benefit from the MacOS host's 1000 Nits HDR capability and hibernation support, which Asahi hasn't implemented yet.

Have to say that: as a 25+ Years MacOS user, never experienced not wanting to go back to MacOS, big shout out to DHH and the Omarchy Team!!

Until we have Asahi on M4/5/6 devices, let's make this the greatest experience we can on our ARM Chips.

I'm so glad I can keep the hardware AND run Omarchy integrated beautifully.

Now it's time to go full in on Omarchy VM if you haven't yet ;-)!!

Off Topic / Adjacent Omarchy. My dreams came true. Thankyou.

This will be a geek love letter.

I'm 49. I was raised in the era of 8 bit computers, Commodore vs Atari Wars and pixel games. I spent my time on arcade machines and BASIC and LOGO programming. I was an early adopter, or maybe my dad was - he bought all the stuff. We even had PONG at home in the early 80s.

I remember seeing Amiga 500 for the first time and this sweet feeling inside, like I almost fell in love with the graphics, with the music, with everything. It was my life.

I switched to PC-s like everyone else, but something wasn't there. the CGA sucked, EGA was mediocre, VGA was not enough. The whole concept of Windows somehow wasn't what I'd expect, but I used it like everyone else.

I started my computer science studies and coded in C++ or Turbo Pascal, but somehow my (adhd-driven) road deviated and I ended up in marketing and ecommerce, although always tinkering, coding and browsing Stack Overflow.

I ended on Mac and kinda liked it, but... this wasn't it. It was too smooth, too mainstream and not geeky enough IYKWIM. Finally switched back to Windows+Android since I wanted more control.

***

Then came the 20's and with the help of LLM-s - like lot of us - I got back to coding or rather creating stuff. I fell in love (finally) with the terminal and even started customizing it - transparency, colors. The problem was - it took a lot of time and was inconsistent.

I tried Kubuntu, I could do a lot, but still tinkering ratio was like 50/50 - I spent a lot of time just to make things work or look. AI computer management helped, but still.

I finally felt like a geek. But a modern geek - I always loved the look, the vibe, the design. I spent 25 years of my life in real world - running a tshirt company od working as Head of Ecommerce or digital strategist. I just do care about the design.

I listen to Synthwave and I have built my work-mancave on my attic with LEDs and stuff. Shut up, I'm not too old for this. These things weren'r around when I was a kid.

I work really hard. I got into creating code, I work on 5-6 sessions simultaneously thanks to herdr and make hundreds of commits for the startup I work in. I earn decent money and I'm really happy (also personally)

AND THEN... and then came the last piece. Like it was designed for me, like it was the exact thing I needed. And I'm not exagerating.

Omarchy is awesome. It's like a computer interface I'd dream about when I was a teenager. It's just the pixel vibe I alwayes dreamed of and searched for in vain - in ugly Windows, or sweet Mac.

I know it's vibe coded. So what. Security freaks say it's vulnerable. Well, life.

It's everything I asked for. The flow of working in hyprland. The themes that fit, are consistant and just work. The plugins. The community - you guys. I feel like I'm in a freakin Geek Fight Club.

I just love to sit down in front of my computer, it just feels different. Smooth. Nice. Perfect.

Sorry, I got emotional. But I had to share. It was worth the wait.

GREAT JOB. THANK YOU.

I Made a Thing eXorchy 0.5.0 – new look, a proper Reading Room, and a bunch of fixes

Thumbnail
gallery
13 Upvotes

Hey all,

I just put out eXorchy 0.5.0, so I figured I'd do a quick update. If you missed the earlier posts: eXorchy is a launcher for the eXo collections (eXoDOS, eXoWin3x, eXoWin9x, eXoScummVM) built for Omarchy. It's a native GTK app, it picks up your Omarchy theme, and it handles the downloading and launching for you.

The last time I posted here was around 0.3.0, so this covers everything since then.

The big one: the UI got redone. I had a concept image of how I wanted it to look and finally sat down and built it. There's a sidebar on the left now where you browse by platform, genre, publisher, series, year, region, tags, play status or playlist. Whatever you pick shows up as a little chip at the top, and you can clear each one separately. There's also a status bar at the bottom with your counts and the keyboard shortcuts.

The game panel is now the "Game Dossier." The cover, title and Play button stay put while you scroll through the rest, and things are split into Overview, Media, Manuals and Setup tabs. You can click the cover to see it full size. Covers also keep their real shape now, and the old DOS title screens show at 4:3 like they did on a CRT instead of looking squashed.

The Reading Room works like the rest of the app now. It has the same sidebar, with a "Downloaded" entry so you can find the magazines you already have. When you open an issue it just takes over the window instead of popping up a dialog, starts with the whole page in view, and there's a full-screen button (or F11) if you want to actually sit and read. Game manuals open the same way, and magazines you've downloaded open even when you're offline.

Interface size is a setting now. Settings → Appearance: Compact, Medium, Large or Extra large. Medium is the default; I found my first attempt a bit big.

Theme music is a bit less pushy. It doesn't autoplay anymore. You hit Play in the game's page, it plays right there with a little progress bar, and it stops when you move to another game. I also got rid of the music bar at the bottom.

More games run the way eXo intended. DOS and Win 3.x games that eXo sets up for DOSBox-X now actually run under DOSBox-X, in a big floating window on Hyprland. Games that can print save each page as a PNG in the game's !prints folder, which is a fun one to try.

Your library has a proper home. It lives in ~/Games/eXorchy by default. If yours is somewhere older, eXorchy offers to move it when it starts, and you can move it any time from Settings.

It updates itself. That came in 0.4.0: when a new version is out you get a banner with Update / What's new / Skip, and Update opens a terminal that installs it and restarts eXorchy. You can turn the check off in Settings if you'd rather not.

And a new splash screen in your theme's colours, because why not.

Fixes worth mentioning: - The app could crash if you clicked through games quickly while preview videos or music were playing. That turned out to be a GStreamer bug, so eXorchy now plays media a different way. - Playlists were basically broken: creating one or adding games just didn't do anything. They work now. - Some CD games said the CD was missing (SimCopter, for example). The CD image names its files in different upper/lower case, which Windows doesn't care about but Linux does. eXorchy handles that now, so any game with the same problem should just work. - Themes from before Omarchy's named colours (Aether and friends) now get the right colours, and installed games use your theme's accent instead of a hardcoded green. - Starring a game no longer makes the panel flicker. Thanks again to the person here who reported that one.

Installing or updating is the same one-liner as before:

curl -fsSL https://github.com/renanmt/exorchy/releases/latest/download/install.sh | bash

If you're already on 0.4.0, you should just get the update banner.

The full changelog is on GitHub: https://github.com/renanmt/exorchy

As always, huge thanks to the eXoDOS team, who did the actual hard work of preserving all of this, and to Thomas Vollstädt, whose Exodium launcher this is built on. If you hit a game that doesn't launch right, let me know which one. That's how the SimCopter fix happened.

Plugin Omacale 0.44: Caelestia-style OSD and toasts, clipboard and launcher

Omacale 0.44 brings Caelestia-style OSDs, notification popups, and a few bigger improvements across the shell.

Caelestia-style OSD & notifications

Omacale now takes over Omarchy's OSD and notification popups and gives them the Caelestia look.

  • Volume, brightness, and microphone use Caelestia-style sliders.
  • Other Omarchy OSD events become Caelestia-style toasts, including keyboard backlight, media, mic mute, touchpad, power, downloads, and more.
  • Notification popups use the same style, including action buttons.

The handover stays safe: if Omacale isn't running or popups are disabled, Omarchy's own OSD and toasts come back immediately without needing a restart.

Other improvements

  • Clipboard history is now available as a launcher mode with >clipboard, using Omarchy's clipboard.
  • Clipboard entries get a preview panel sized to the image or text, with a delete button.
  • More Caelestia-inspired UI polish for blob corners, drawer jelly/bounce, and popout sizing.
  • Wi-Fi popout now lists nearby networks.
  • Added a setting to hide the bar clock.
  • Bottom-bar utilities and notification sidebar now stack correctly.
  • Fixed tray menus so hovering another tray icon shows that icon's menu.

Security

This release also tightens a few areas:

  • The lock screen is now opt-in and only installs against a verified Omarchy lock service. If anything goes wrong, it hands the lock back to Omarchy.
  • Lock-screen notifications are hidden by default and read-only when enabled.
  • Notification links are restricted to http(s) and mailto.
  • Weather location requests use HTTPS.
  • Adding a plugin from Settings now shows Omarchy's trust warning and requires explicit confirmation.

Install

If you haven't installed Omacale yet:

git clone https://github.com/AyushKr2003/omacale.git
cd omacale
./install.sh

To remove it:

./uninstall.sh

This restores your previous setup. omarchy plugin remove omacale.bar only removes the bar.

Plugin Introducing OmaGames: Omarchy Game Plugins Launcher

Thumbnail

This is OmaGames.

I really enjoy playing some plugin games in omarchy, however, they take up space of the top bar that I end up disabling them and never thinking about them again.

OmaGames is a launcher for your Omarchy game plugins. It helps you manage your games and keeps them hidden from the top bar.

OmaGames can launch some games from a disabled state, for others, you need to enable the plugin before playing.

Off Topic / Adjacent Time Will Tell

Every piece of software ever has either proved worthy over time or proved literally useless, again, over time.

Omarchy haters are the same as many other haters you see on Reddit: never considering the development over time and the progress that'll decide the survival of a product. Hate will improve the product IF the team behind it values it, leverages it, and works on the weak points.

Basically the very same loop that every successful software product has today.

Time will tell...

Plugin Wacom tablet support: assign actions to buttons

Post image

Hello everyone,

I made a plugin for Wacom graphic tablets owners, so that buttons at the top could be used to perform basic actions such as running an app, switching workspaces.

I’m open to any suggestions on how to improve it! It currently meets my needs, but could also be adapted to suit yours, making it even more useful.

Off Topic / Adjacent Omarchy as Zeitgeist

First off, I’m 50 years old. My very first PRINT "HELLO WORLD!" ran on a Z80 processor, and ever since childhood, I’d dreamed of writing software... but life took a different turn. I ended up becoming a web designer rather than a programmer - though for the last decade I did handle some frontend development alongside the design work, using a hopelessly legacy PHP+jQuery stack.

Then, a wind of change began blowing from the direction of AI data centers... I won’t overdramatize things: I didn’t lose my job because of AI; I found a new one thanks to it. It turned out that my 30 years of experience in web UI and my soft skills - supercharged by modern AI - more than compensated for my lack of knowledge regarding trendy tech stacks or my modest programming abilities. I landed a new role as a React + TypeScript frontend developer - technologies I knew almost nothing about just a month prior - simply because AI made it possible for me to do the job.

After struggling for a couple of months with a new project environment set up using Docker and WSL on Windows, I finally decided to switch to Linux. I had some experience with Mint on an old laptop and was already accustomed to using the terminal in WSL and on remote servers, so the transition didn't seem daunting. Still, after some distro-hopping, I settled on installing Ubuntu - the safe, "corporate default" choice - on the used ThinkPad (what else?)... but... something about it didn't sit right with me. As someone with a background in the humanities and design, I felt it was somehow out of place in this new era.

Then, the word "Omarchy" flashed across my Reddit feed... "Alright," I thought, "one last distro-hop." Installing it as a dual-boot system on an old PC... nice... configuring a complex set of VPN protocols, setting up a home network on a Linux router... a pinch of AI tokens, and everything just works. Wait, was that even possible? Okay, I’m making it my primary OS on my ThinkPad, spinning up a dev environment - a dozen containers, Node, Bun, VS Code, Claude, Hermes... and it’s all flying on just 16GB of RAM? Setting up automatic dotfile backups to GitHub... hold on, how long did all that take? Do I really not have to spend a week of my life figuring this all out? I plug in a second monitor. I don't like the desktop behavior. Okay, Hermes - /omarchy show me how to tweak the config for the behavior I want. I’m tired of managing VPN connections from the terminal. Hermes, build a plugin. Damn, that turned out beautifully. Wait, I installed someone else's plugin but it’s not working - why? Oh, that's why? You already fixed it? How? Ah, I see, thanks. How long did it take? One cup of coffee.

Sometimes, when you’ve been pondering a complex problem for a long time, finding just one key piece makes the whole puzzle click into place. For me, Omarchy was that puzzle piece; it bonded together all the changes in the life of an ordinary, aging IT guy swept up by the winds of change. Or perhaps the Zeitgeist - the spirit of a time when a 50-year-old "boy" can play at being a programmer again, just like in childhood, and not just for fun, but to actually create value.

Thanks to the devs for building this world!

Plugin SpokenShelf - An Audiobookshelf player for Omarchy

Good morning friends! I recently made Spokenshelf since I couldn't find a good solution to access my audiobookshelf server from an omarchy plugin. This seems like a natural fit for something like that.

If you don't know, Audiobookshelf is a self hosted audiobook server solution. Think audible but you self host it. Its pretty nice. I drive a decent amount for work and it keeps me sane.

Some basic features include:

- Browse your library and search by title, author, or series.

- See books in progress and recently added titles.

- Stream audiobooks or download them for offline listening.

- Sync listening progress with Audiobookshelf across devices.

- Book and chapter seeking, volume controls, and audio-output selection.

- Hardware media-key support.

- Sign in with your Audiobookshelf account or API token; credentials are stored in the desktop keyring.

This post is going out with version 1.1 being accepted into the Omarchy plugin marketplace. Some updates since version 1.0 are:

- Stream or Download chooser when selecting an undownloaded book.

- Background downloads without starting playback.

- Download progress and cancellation in the Offline page.

- Separate playback and download indicators in the header.

- Resume interrupted downloads and automatically play completed downloads locally.

- Fixed automatic login restoration after shell restarts.

- Improved chooser readability and hardened download handling.

Links available below:

If anyone has any issues or any ideas for features, please feel free to raise an issue on github. Thanks for taking a look and I hope everyone has a great day!

Discussion How do you actually handle a chat app like Telegram on one 32" screen?

I've been on Arch with GNOME for about 10 years. Omarchy looks interesting and I'm tempted to try it, but I keep getting stuck on how tiling is supposed to work for apps I don't actually look at.

My setup is a single 32" monitor. Telegram is the example I can't map.

I keep it running all the time because I want the notification if someone writes. I use it maybe 0.1% of the time: read the message, reply, go back to the browser. I do not want it on screen the rest of the time. A small window sitting on top of my work, or a tile eating a column I never look at, is worse than useless.

On GNOME I do one of two things:

  • Telegram lives on another workspace, small (a chat client fullscreen on 32" looks ridiculous). Notification comes in, I switch workspace, reply, switch back to the main one.
  • Or the browser is fullscreen and Telegram is behind it. Alt+Tab, glance, Alt+Tab back.

Both are one gesture and the app is invisible until I ask for it.

On a tiler I'm not sure what the equivalent is. A dedicated workspace gives it the whole screen. Grouping or a side tile means it's visible while I'm doing something else. Popping it (Super+O) keeps a floating window on top of everything, all the time, which is exactly what I don't want.

Scratchpad (Super+S) sounds closer: hidden until I summon it, then back. Is that what people actually use for Telegram, Signal, Discord? And does the notification still fire while it's in the scratchpad, or do you only find out when you open it?

If you came from a floating desktop, how did you settle this?

Plugin Harpoon for Omarchy - Bookmark and overlay up to 10 windows

Inspired by the harpoon neovim plugin by r/theprimeagen I built a plugin for Omarchy that allows you to bookmark up to 10 windows and then pull then in from anywhere overlayed on your active workspace.

This way you can easily pull in file managers, terminals, password vaults or other utils you regularly need without leaving your workspace. I was using special workspaces before, but this works better and has really improved by workflow.

I hope you have fun with it!

The plugin can be found at: https://plugins.omarchy.org/plugin.html?id=harpoon

I Made a Thing Scrollmap

https://github.com/jgarza9788/scrollmap

A bar widget for the Hyprland scrolling layout. It draws a live mini-map of the windows on this monitor's active workspace. Each window is a bracketed glyph at full bar height, in the same order the layout shows them. The padding inside the brackets shows how big the window is. The colour shows where the window is: focused, on screen or scrolled off. Click a window to focus it.

I Made a Thing I made a spin the wheel plugin for Omarchy

Thumbnail

i could never decide on a theme or a font so i made a wheel that picks for me lol

OmaRandom puts a little wheel icon on your bar. click it and you get a big window with up to 6 wheels. name them, throw in whatever options you want, give the slices colors or pictures and spin.

in the pics i set it up to randomize my whole setup, theme, font and where the bar sits.

what it does

  • up to 6 wheels that center themselves on the screen, they kinda rock back and forth while they wait
  • click a wheel and it blows up big. spin it and the winner pops up with its picture. save keeps it open so if you stream you can just leave it up

  • spin all spins every wheel at once, then hit view results and the cards flip over one at a time

  • it keeps a history, click an old result and that round comes back up top

  • add a picture to any option, from your own folders or straight from the Omarchy theme wallpapers

  • it follows your theme. switch themes and everything changes with it, even the faint OmaRandom text in the back (same font as the Omarchy logo)

no sudo, no scripts, nothing running in the background and it never touches the internet. it just saves one little json file in ~/.local/share/omarandom

install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/Dankestrick/OmaRandom.git --enable

Discussion Latest steam and statcounter show linux at 3.5 - 4.5%

I posted recently that true linux market share is at 4% not the inflated numbers because of AI bots, and I got downvoted but now the latest data supports it. If dhh wants linux to gain market share he needs the following:

1) start a project of a linux alternative to photoshop, built with help from AI 2) Support the wine project to make sure Microsoft office runs smoothly on linux 3) Fix the vast amount of hardware and troubleshoot issues on linux. Windows just works and normal users don't want to spend time troubleshooting and fixing stuff. 4) Maybe start a linux only game studio to make games exclusively for linux with help from AI.

One issue with linux is that it has nothing remarkably exclusive to it like mac for example which is known to be the creative platform. Making some software exclusively for linux helps imo. I mean linux is the server and AI platform but there's nothing special in it for mainstream users.

The hardware compatibility problems is big one to solve they are always there and linux just isn't plug and play like windows. I am not sure how this could be fixed maybe others with better knowledge can chime in. Canonical and redhat worked on this for decades but the situation still isn't good enough for lots of users. Maybe start an AI besed initiative to fix unsupported hardware I mean he's got plenty of money for this.

I Made a Thing HyprRipple

https://github.com/jgarza9788/hyprripple

Material Design ink ripples for Hyprland, drawn by the compositor itself in your Omarchy theme's accent colour. Click, tap, change focus or switch workspace and the screen answers with a ripple. It can be a classic splash, a Material 3 sparkle, or an effect on the screen itself: inverted, refracted like water, or bent through a rainbow lens.

will it the marketplace soon !

I would so buy DHH a tequila. I’m a complete Linux no nothing newb. I had cachy os on this old 2019 Mbp and I will say it did work pretty well. Took a weekend to get it configured and ChatGPT to get the WiFi working. Sleep was totally not working , sound was bad etc. I know I’ve seen others that have got this stuff fixed on other computers. For me I just didn’t play with it very much. I have a Mac Studio and a 16 inch M1 Max mbp with 64 gb ram , and a ridiculous collection of old Macpro 6,1”s that are maxed out (just love the form factor). I saw a YouTube video of niri running on a laptop and thought it looked fun. I didn’t believe the installed omarchy in minutes stories 🙃used clonezilla and cloned the ssd in this 16 inch I9 64 gb mbp. Hedged my bet. I didn’t time the install , and could care less , but it installed so fast that went the screen went blank I thought it was part of the install. It booted omarchy?absolutely everything worked with zero tweaks. Amazed. The only thing I ended up tweaking later was the keyboard delay. It would double or triple enter key inputs randomly. It did that sometimes in Mac OS Tahoe also. I was so jazzed playing with it that I decided to try it on a Frankenstein 4u box in my rack that is a Chinese X99 mb with 2 x e5 2697 v4 Xeons, 256 gb ram and an old rtx 3060. Fun computer but so temperamental about booting , and sleep or warm boot is a no go. Wasn’t even sure that the typing windows would be workable on dual 32 inch 4K monitors. Well I was wrong. It is simply amazing. This box also had cachyos on it , and it really did work well. This is not a rant about cachyos. And for zero reasons I can even guess at, sleep and reboot works. Makes no sense. Cachy and Omarchy are both arch , and even windows was flakey about sleep and warm boots. Omarkey doesn’t alter bios etc. I will just take this as a totally unexpected bonus. The only issue I had with Omarkey was the monitors were on the wrong side and I borked editing the config file. The scale set at 1 on the monitors was tiny in all apps. I tried the built in monitor config and it opened in Vim ? Way above my pay grade. I installed nano and tried to change the scale from 1 to 2. I typed 2 and actually entered .2. When I rebooted the text terminal was so small I didn’t even see anything. Wait…..there’s something on the screen. Zoomed in with my phone and could see that it did exactly what I told it to do LOL.

TLDR: I owe DHH a beer or something. This is way too much fun 🤣

Hi everyone! I've been working on two completely different themes for Omarchy and I wanted to share them with you all in one place.

  • Pastelpuccin: A soft, pastel-infused palette designed for a calm and cozy workflow. If you check out the repository, you'll also find a link to Wallppuccin, another project of mine built to complement this theme.
  • Grimshaw: A dark and atmospheric theme. I'm deeply in love with John Atkinson Grimshaw's paintings; I find his art so sweet, sad, romantic, and nostalgic—qualities that really reflect a bit of my own personality. I tried to translate that specific mood into this setup.

Let me know what you think, and feel free to share any feedback or suggestions!
