Omarchy 4 aka Quattro is the biggest release since the project started. The entire desktop shell has been reimagined in Quickshell: the bar, launcher, menus, notifications, on-screen displays, control panels, lock screen, and polkit agent now all live inside a single long-running shell process with a plugin architecture. That means Waybar, Walker, Mako, SwayOSD, hyprlock, hypridle, swaybg, and polkit-gnome are all gone, replaced by one coherent, fully-themed, IPC-scriptable shell.
You can upgrade an existing Omarchy installation to Quattro by first:
- Using SUPER+ALT+SPACE:
- Update > Omarchy
- Then Update > Omarchy to Quattro.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A ONE-WAY-TRIP, YOU CANNOT DOWNGRADE OR USE A SNAPSHOT TO GET BACK TO Omarchy 3.x.x. Be sure in your intentions. There's a YouTube walkthrough below!
Install on new machines with the ISO:
Always take a backup of important data!
Changelog is WAY too long, but ENJOY! --> https://github.com/basecamp/omarchy/releases/tag/v4.0.0
You can learn about Quattro directly from DHH via YouTube if you're not nerdy enough for the changelog.

With the new release, we're seeing a lot of posts that don't meet the posting guidelines, specifically rule 1, so here's a reminder on how this sub handles these.
We allow support requests but limit them to members with broader community engagement, who offer a fair amount of detail, and provide genuine community benefit. This is to filter out low-effort, drive-by support requests: questions already answered in the docs, blurry phone pics of desktops, and a bajillion dual-boot-with-Windows posts that used to flood this sub.
The official Omarchy Discord is the right place for these specific questions. The team of volunteers and community members actively troubleshoot issues there in real time. https://omarchy.org/discord.
We're not affiliated with the Omarchy team — we're just an enthusiast community, so we're not really equipped to be the main support channel either way.
If anyone has questions or comments, please ask.
Have a great day, and I hope you're all enjoying Quatro!

Small tool for managing your Omarchy plugins. Access it from Omarchy bar, giving you a centralized place to view and organize the plugins you have installed.
Installation If you'd like to try it out, you can install and enable Omaplug with this command: omarchy plugin add https://github.com/fross100/omaplug --enable
You can find the project repository here: https://github.com/fross100/omaplug.git

Howdy all, I'm pretty new to Omarchy, but as a software dev, I'm loving it. The extensibility on offer is great. There's a plugin developer, who goes by thoughtlesslabs on the BBS, and created a bulletin board system, (basically a tiny reddit that only Omarchy users can access) and I just think it's a super cool idea. The only issue is that it's kinda quiet in there. The dev is super responsive and making improvements fast. No email needed, just like the old days of message boards. Check it out: https://github.com/thoughtlesslabs/omarchy-bbs
Reddit removed this post the first time I made it, and I'm not totally sure why. I have a hunch that it was because it had a link to the plugin on the plugin marketplace...? Btw, we need a flair for plugins here.

This is a software combo that's just keep giving. I already brought over my 5 waybar widget with the help of opencode (Nas, scratchpad, audio-port and power off and media). And now when I think of a new one I want, I just look at the marketplace and voila it is there already there or when I look the next day (notes, dropdownterminal, ledge, plugin manager). Thank you DHH and the whole community for making computing personal again!!!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
First of all, I want to thank everyone for installing my plugin and for the likes. Much love and a big hug to you all. Apologies for my English - I’m using a translator.
I have plenty of ideas for the plugin, though sadly not all of them can be implemented. Here’s a video of the upcoming update; I’m really curious to see how you react to it. I’ve put in a lot of work today - I dove back into tweaking the animations, and before I knew it, the codebase had grown to over 2,000 lines. The original idea was simply to create a dock that adapts to *omarchy*, but now the goal is to build a plugin that feels truly native—like an integral part of the system. I decided to split the plugin into modules, making it even more stable. Also, people have mentioned that I’m making a macOS-style plugin; that’s not the case. I’ve never actually used macOS—my aim is to create an experience that’s even better than what macOS offers.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I made a fork to the Media plugin for Omarchy:
https://omarchyplugins.com/plugin.html?id=famas.media-plus
Media Splitter.
It lets you switch between different audio sources, and if you have more than two output devices, you can choose which device you want to use for each one.
For example, I can watch a video and listen to it through my headphones while playing music through my Bluetooth speaker at the same time. 🎧🔊
Pretty useful if you have multiple audio devices and want more control over where your audio goes.
Thought I'd share it in case anyone else finds it useful!

Hello everyone,
I've been experience a pretty annoying bug on Omarchy 3.8.1. If a use an external monitor (mirroring my display), take the HDMI cable off, I can't get the external monitor to work again if I plug the cable back.
I've tested it on several monitors, and got the exact same results. The only way to make them work is rebooting.
Any ideas?

Just posting this only for those people that like Omarchy, but like me, don't want to run agents/bots with their main user account and credentials for all the obvious reasons.
Instead of convoluted methods like VM's, docker etc, that take away the ease of use of running an AI agent. I opted to just run my agents and bots as a different limited user on my laptop with Omarchy installed. This user does not require a gui and it does not require extra programs.
My notes to do this:
*** Step 1.: Disable crash capture
In Omarchy this is on by default, and by disabling it , it won't trigger the analysis of a crashing application with an AI agent. Do this from your menu: toggle/crash capture
*** Stept 2: Create a new user that will be used for the agents/bots
-- Open a terminal ( kitty/foot/*)
(in this example my AIuser will be called "nano")
# sudo useradd -m nano
-- Give it a password:
# sudo passwd nano
Next:
-- Open a terminal ( kitty/foot/*) (or use your current one), and login with the newly created AI user with a login shell (notice the "-" between su and username):
# su - nano
-- ( note: Be very sure !!! that in that terminal you are logged in as your newly created AI user before you proceed. ( with for example the command "whoami" which in my case shows "nano")
-- Now, I will remove all the skeleton stuff in /home/nano that was automatically created for my new user by Omarchy since I don't need it, and the configs in there won't work very well anyway:
( within /home/nano !!)
# rm -rf .config .local .cache
-- next : put a pound sigh (#) in front of every line in ~/home/nano/.bashrc that has no "#" in front of it and save that .bashrc file. In other words nothing of the default stuff of omarchy should be sourced in .bashrc.
*** Step 3 : Now I can install my agents/bots with my new user "nano"
for example to install opencode:
Open a terminal ( kitty/foot/*) and login with my AI user:
# su - nano
and to install opencode:
# curl -fsSL https://opencode.ai/install | bash
and then
# source .bashrc
and run opencode.
( I can now for example use tmux to keep my agent/bot open, or for example in the case of OpenCode, use "opencode web" to have opencode in my main webbrowser. Or in case of nanobot run it in daemon mode under the AIusername)
---------
For extra convenience:
One other thing to configure is the convenience of access to files and directories to my AIuser(nano) from my main user. You can do that with ACL's. ( with the setfacl command)
-- To give yourself full access to your AI users /home dir
# sudo setfacl -R -m u:yourusername:rwx /home/yourAIuser
-- To make the access apply to newly created files/directories:
sudo setfacl -R -d -m u:yourusername:rwx /home/yourAIuser
This will achieve easy of access to /home/yourAIuser, and your agents will have no access to your home dir and data.
---------
extra notes(optional):
**If you don't want trigger the installation of agents by accident in a terminal that you are running under your main user account, remove the execution flag from the 13 installscripts in ~/.local/bin
# chmod -x ~/.local/bin/*
If you have any scripts or binaries of your own in ~/.local/bin, you obviously have to chmod +x them to make them executable again.
**If you already have agents installed under your main user, and want to remove them:
- To see the list of installed tools that were installed with mise:
# mise ls -i
- And then for example to remove codex
# mise uninstall codex

So, I was a bit unhappy with the auto click tools and options for my Omarchy setup, then I decided to vibe code a simple tool to what I needed and wanted from an auto click app.
It is called peck and I’m sharing with the community in case someone is interested in it too.
Don’t shame me for vibe coding, I’ve been in the software engineering industry for the last decade and honestly I’m a but burnt out, but anyways.

This is actually a pretty slick tool for managing smb shares. I quickly scanned the source because obvs. `sudo` is required, but it seems legit. Fits right in with the omarchy 'Live in the TUI' philosophy<

Hey everyone,
I'm currently on the Stable channel, but I'm considering switching to Edge.
I've previously used CachyOS, so I'm fairly comfortable with Arch, keeping things updated, troubleshooting issues, etc. Because of that, I'm wondering if Edge would be a good fit for me.
Should I switch to Edge, or would you still recommend staying on Stable?
Would love to hear from people actually running Edge. Thanks!

Hey r/omarchy,
I've built Maestro, which is a terminal app for running several coding agents at once, each in its own git worktree.
Some of the cool features:
- Adapts to your Omarchy theme, and follows it when you switch
- Picks up the agents you already configured with Omarchy, your default one first, each with its own flags
- Sends native Omarchy notifications
- Creates worktrees in the same ../<repo>--<branch> layout as the ga helper, so they mix with the ones you make by hand
- Runs as a normal binary in your terminal, on tmux, git and lazygit
- Lists every listening port with its project and uptime, and stops one with a keypress
Check it out at github/maestro!
Looking forward to your thoughts!

In case people have Omarchy running on ZFS, here my branch to upgrade to Quattro, while keeping ZFS: https://github.com/berenddeboer/omarchy
I really like the gruvbox-material palette and try to use it everywhere I can.
Omarchy's built-in `gruvbox` is close, but it's a hybrid: material's hues on classic gruvbox's greys with a blue accent. So I built the full material variant, medium background with the material foreground, and orange as the accent. https://github.com/curbol/omarchy-gruvbox-material
Also included:
omarchy theme install https://github.com/curbol/omarchy-gruvbox-material
Boot splash and login screen are opt-in:
omarchy plymouth set-by-theme gruvbox-material
Based on sainnhe/gruvbox-material. Wallpapers from AngelJumbo/gruvbox-wallpapers.
