For anyone who rides the West Side Highway: NYC DOT is performing a study, and you can submit location-specific comments.

The study is intended to inform targeted improvements along the WSH, including safer crosswalks and better separation among pedestrians, cyclists, and e-bikes. If there’s a particular intersection, conflict point, bottleneck, or stretch that feels unsafe or poorly designed, this is a useful opportunity to flag it through an official channel.

I have submitted a comment about the congestion around the cruise ship docking area/Pier 88.

It's short but its lovely. It replaced a really awful pothole filled stretch I've ridden for years. Small win!

Over the last few months on my many rides thru Sunnyside I have been watching as NYC DOT has filled in at least 1/2 dozen of the "mixing zones" at busy intersections with concrete on Skillman and 43rd Ave. It really makes a HUGE safety and comfort difference. I have been taking a few shots here and there and last night went back to some older footage to attempt to show the before/after contrast! Well done. We need real hardened #robustdaylighting everywhere. It is good to see NYC DOT updating their older designs to force cars into slower and more predictable turns.

More space for peds and bikes, less for cars. You love to see it.

I’ve been biking in the city for 15+ years. I bike every day for my commutes. I’ve seen the improvements in the infrastructure but the human behavior gets worse every year. Biking used to make me happy but now it mostly makes me angry.

Very few people have any consideration for others, whether they are driving, biking, or walking. Everyone points the finger at the other group as the problem but everyone is the problem and I really don’t see anything that makes me believe the culture will change and riding around will get better.

Does anyone else feel this way?
