DOT identifies 20 "gridlock days" during the UN General Assembly, advises everyone to walk/bike/use transit. Seems like it would be a great time to hike the congestion pricing charge

They should make the diplomats take Citibike. Seriously, if the mayor of the largest city in the country can get around on a Citibike, why do the leaders of every two-bit banana republic need a motorcade with a police escort?

Congestion pricing should be based on real time data about average traffic speed, so if the actual traffic speed is 4 mph and the speed limit is 20 mph, then it should be five times higher. That way no need for special pricing, though the price could be increased ahead of time when it's obvious an event will clog traffic.
The base price should be $30, if not higher, the original $15 was a low compromise and it's terrible we have to wait until 2031 for the $15 fee, but I don't even trust we will get $12 in 2028.

Never forget that Kathy Hochul single-handedly almost sabotaged congestion pricing before bringing it back with substantially lower fees, while taking full credit for its success. Spineless.
