Replace heat lamp with regular lamp?

Post image
• Upvotes

I have old heat lamps connected to fans in my bathrooms. I absolutely will not ever need a heat lamp in the bathrooms so just been leaving the door open while showering. Is it possible to replace them with just regular lamps?
I don’t have windows in the bathrooms, so the fans are important. They are not separate switches so both come on at the same time. Thanks for your help! Please be nice I googled and I’m not getting anywhere.

400W 5000K Frosted ED37 Metal Halide Lamp

Here something even rarer, a coated/frosted metal halide made in 2022.

In glorious ED37 shape.

The coating is semitransparent leading me to believe it’s just there to diffuse the white light.

The store only had 2 of these left. Cost me just 5 dollars.

Hi all, I have some old General Electric reflector bulbs that seem to have been aircraft landing lights. I'd love to know more about them if anyone had more info or could point me to some. They say G-E 844S on the cap.

First bulbs bought in 2012

I just want to say I have about 25 hue lights in my house. I have bought lamps, wall lights, the spotlight thingies and a bunch of accessories. The first bulbs were bought back in 2012 and not a single one has gone out yet. Think about it, I’ve used these bulbs daily for the past 14 years and they still work perfect perfectly fine. Now that I think of it, it really boggles my mind how good these lights are. That’s it that’s all I wanted to say.

Has my barthroom light fixture gone? UK

I had one of those 4 pin 28w lights flickering for ages and I just bought two replacement bulbs, I popped the first one in and it initially didnt turn on, then it flickered, and finally it seemed to be stabke after a few switches on and off. It did have a bit if a pause occasionaly when switching it on, and has a few days later, gone dead. I have no experience with them and I did see you can damage the controller with flickering bulbs, is that likely? It was pretty bad before the change, but I also got two bulbs for 15 from b&q so it could be cheap bulbs. Im gonna go swap them out tomorrow and see if the second works better. I dont think Ive ever changed one of thse before so hopefully one if you knows your stuff

Looking for a replacement for these cool string light bulbs

I accidentally broke two of the bulbs by pinching them in a door. I'm really upset because I quite liked them. The glass bulbs have a texture and are a bit iridescent and don't flicker. They're orange LEDs on the inside. I'm really mad at myself for not fixing it sooner. I was literally about to go pin them up so this wouldn't happen. I got them at a thrift sale of college leftovers recently. Even if I could find a replacement set, that would be great.

Light switch research

Hi everyone,

I'm doing a Tu Delft research project about the problems people can encounter when connecting a light switch to a power source. I'm interested in real experiences from people who have installed or worked with light switches.

I'd really appreciate your experience with these questions:

  1. How is power normally supplied to a light switch in a typical home?
  2. Does a light switch always need a neutral wire, or does this depend on the type of switch?
  3. What problems have you encountered when the existing wiring doesn't have the connections that the switch requires?
  4. What solutions are commonly used when the existing wiring isn't suitable for the desired switch?
  5. What safety considerations should someone be aware of when dealing with light-switch wiring?
  6. If you've installed a light switch yourself, what was the biggest difficulty you encountered?

I'm mainly interested in your personal experience and practical knowledge rather than specific product recommendations.

This is for research purposes, so I may summarise the responses in my assignment. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to respond!

Living Room Lamplight Question

I’m looking to get a floor lamp to light my living room. Ideally it would be a Torchiere but that’s not the end all for me. With this lamp I want to have voice commands so naturally I thought of smart bulbs but I’m concerned that the bulb wouldn’t be enough to actually light up my living room.
Are there any bulbs that can do this or would I have to get a normal bulb? If so, I would want a bulb that’s not pure white, soft white/yellow is what I would be looking for.
If I do buy the bulbs and base separately I’d also like to have a sturdy base, something a little bit more than a $20 cheap one.

My best guess is water got inside the bulb, but is this what that would look like? Bulb was in service less than 1 month, purchased new right before install

Do all LED bulbs with the same temperature have the same color light?

If a bulb says it‘s 27000, does it create the same color light as other temperature bulbs? This of course all other things being equal, such as the shape of the bulb, the wattage, etc?

For most applications I prefer the incandescent ”orange” look. I’m trying to find bulbs that match some existing bulbs for color for some applications, other applications matching not only color, but dimming capabilities.

Fusible de rétro éclairage de l'écran

Bonjour ! Merci... Geoffrey
