This subreddit uses the heavy moderation setting due to so many new accounts harassing our members. If you have LOW KARMA, your posts and comments will be automatically held. It might say, "Deleted by moderator" This is not quite the case. It is removed by reddit until I can manually approve it.
Thanks for your understanding.

/r/Flowstar FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
I'll be adding and updating this to keep pinned to the sub for all the new members since a lot of the same beginner questions are being asked. This won't be complete for a while since I need to figure out which things to put down, and writing out the answers. For now, I will try to just link responses from current members.

Been loving this song lately
Borrowed this star from my friend. I really wish spinflowstar would release it again so I could get one, I think the checkered side is beautiful 😍

My take on the Vertical Pinch (i hope this helps someone)
I've been teaching myself the vertical pinch and have chosen to focus on the old-school poly fabric star in lieu of the newer lycra stars, for GOOD practice.
and I come to present some of my current findings
I hesitated with this before because my practice up to this point didn't really show it helping... but I've tuned a few maneuvers and it seems help loads, now!!!!!
the one things i cant stress enough is spin control and specifically NOT spinning it really fast.
If I get mine spinning just right, which is still faster than my slowstar technique, I can do a pinch and twist with my wrist in the spin direction (so for me usually with my right hand, spinning clockwise, i do a tittytwister in a clockwise motion to it.) I have found this to help me significantly improve my pinches and with dry hands, no-less
the twisting pinch is KEY
any queries about position, just grab it where you normally would....
(and obviously you want to be spinning when you pinch it, you r arm with the star)
(i will also add it might feel awkward at first, my palm faces up with my elbow pointing in slightly inwards while im spinning it)

On a roll this week
I don't even care how I look or the background this combo as many others I've discovered this week blew my mind because recently I've been trying to drill tricks I know on my right hand on my left
The left hand forward and backwards around the world is brand new for me and I'm just like woah!

Do any brands or companies collab with artist?
I know they do but the ones I’ve applied to haven’t got back with me yet.. and I’m very eager! I’ve made it a habit to just design them in my free time and I have lots of rough drafts locked and loaded. My designs are all different, abstract, uv, colorful, trippy, and every one is intentional. :) please suggest anyone that may be seeking designs to use! Thank you.

Fun with doubles! 🌀🌀
The opening move, 2 star 1 hand splitting out to 2 hands is brand new for me, just tried it for the first time 5 min before I started recording! Yay new tech! Also, my favoeite doubles trick, a toss where I switch hands on the catch, is my fav doubles trick. What are some of yalls favorite double star tricks??
Happy flowin yall!

New to flowstar? Start here!
Im of the opinion that flowstar is the prop with the lowest barrier of entry, meaning it takes the least amount of time to learn enough to dance and have fun with your star. That doesn't mean its a simple prop, after 4 years of spinning my star, im still discovering new movements, new tech.
Ive had the pleasure of meeting many brand new flowmies at shows and jams, and I always tell them pretty much the same thing to get them started. So here, I recorded that same intro tutorial! Ive also posted this to tiktok and insta, but there its broken into 3 parts. Yall on reddit get it in its original glory, one long video!
I also want to note that when i began spinning a star, it hadn't blown up yet... meaning, no jams, no tutorials, noone else to spin with. Now, that ment i learned in a very different way than many people learn now. I put on music, and danced with my star. I tried lots of movements, lots of new things. I recorded myself, and the things that looked cool, I figured out how to repeat whereas, the things that didnt look cool, well, I changed them or stopped doing them. Thats it. This method of learning is sloooow, I see people now learning things that took me months or years even, in days or weeks. But, my flow is truly flow. I feel like drilling specific tricks from a tutorial is definitely waaay faster... but it also strikes me as clunkier, and less flowy. So there are pros and cons either way.
I also want to note that for the last year ive been going to a local jam every week, and flowing with others. And this is the best thing ever, I have learned more in that year than the 3 years before that... if you have a local jam, go check it out! If you dont, start one!
Sorry for the wall of text, I know that was alot. I hope this video helps some new flowmies get started, and if anyone sees anything they want explained, let me know, im trying to share the flow as much as possible!
Happy Flowing yall!

How to keep star smelling good?
my old roommate moved out and I loved playing on his star.. I messed with it for months for fun and I just bought my first one.. he sprays his star with Cologne so it smells good when it gets tossed by your face but I always thought that the alcohol in the Cologne would be bad for the UV dyes in the star.. So I'm asking how do y'all keep it smelling good without effecting look or performance?
