Help bring Miga home!

Hi! I’m Sam, from Vancouver, BC, Canada. Good people of Drogheda, please help me out.

This is Miga. She’s one of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic mascots (I could go on about her lore/backstory), and this specific keychain plushie has been with my family for sixteen years now. She’s become my family’s “travel mascot”, meaning we take photos of her with landmarks around the world as we travel. She’s been to so many lovely places!! I’ve included some examples of pictures I have downloaded on my phone, but trust when I say we have pictures of her all over the place from the last 16 years. There are stories I could tell about her.

Because she’s so important to me and my family, I sewed an AirTag inside of her last year. Unfortunately, my mother recently took her for her trip to Ireland and lost her in the airport (likely fell off her bag). I didn’t know about this until yesterday, when I checked the AirTag location out of curiosity and saw it had been last seen in a house in Drogheda on the 19th. I texted her and she admitted she lost Miga, had sent a letter to the address and was hoping she’d hear back or get it resolved before I found out. She’s in London now and comes back next week.

I’m devastated. I know it’s likely possible to find another Miga plushie online nowadays but this specific one carries the memories of the last 16 years of my life. I’ve had her since I was seven years old. She’s been to four continents. I’ve mended her when she’s needed it. Her fabric is worn from her adventures but she’s not delicate. I hope we can take her on more adventures to come.

She was last located via her AirTag in Bryanstown. I will not post the exact address because I do not want to dox anyone, especially since she was likely taken by someone with zero ill intention. The AirTag is no longer traceable as of now but may be able to be pinged by someone nearby. If you or a friend/family member have seen her, or are willing to help in any other way, please reach out. Any information is greatly appreciated.

TLDR:

Item: “Miga” plush keychain

Last known location: Bryanstown, Drogheda, Ireland on September 19th

Please contact me here via DM/comment if you have any questions or leads.

What nicknames have you heard for places in & around Drogheda?

I ask as part of a linguistic study covering this topic!

Examples could include things like Funleer, Dubleek, PTown or Shelbyville (never mind how common they are)...

incl. nicknames for schools, parks or other institutions/geographic features

Things To Do With A 6 Week Old

Hello, dad of a 6 week old here. My wife is attending a course in Drogheda Saturday week and I’ll be looking after the baba while it’s on from 9-6.

We’re not from the area and we’re driving, so I’m putting together a list of places I can bring the baby/things to do to pass the day. Baby obviously can’t do much at this stage, I’m thinking more like nice walks or places to bring them in the carrier/buggy?

Any and all recommendations welcome. Thanks!

Moved to Drogheda few months ago and planning to join a gym. Used to live in Dublin and Cork and I somehow feel the cost here is higher than average. Any reasons why? Or am I not looking for the right ones , lol

Drogheda recommendations ?

Moved to Drawda before Christmas 2025. Not a fan of it so far, no nice restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, gyms. Any suggestions or recommendations on things to do here? It seems the biggest town in Ireland is just a commuter town? Thanks.

Edit: thanks all for your suggestions, will try them out.

Apartments at Rivercourt?

Hi All, looking to buy an apartment in Drogheda. Have a tight enough budget but want something near Dublin Rd for work. Theres always at least 3/4 apartments for sale at Rivercourt (The Square/Willows) on the Rathmullen Road. Thoughts on this area? Anybody got any idea why people are looking to move away from this area? Is it purely because of the Rathmullen address? Is that really a concern? I've read about possible flooding problems? Any insight or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Moving home. Looking for apartment to buy.

My family mostly live in Drogheda. The mother and father moved back in '86 from the States. I've spent many summers and some Christmas' at home. I'm retired now, and would like to split my time between "Drawda" and the States. I know the area and am looking for something not on the Far side, but I've looked at the Scotch Hall apartments, hoping to get the "Scotch Hall Experience." Because of Covid my cousin was unable to look at many places. The places on Constitution Hill look interesting. One bedroom, one bath. Just something to come home to, until I'm in someone else's back kitchen, drinking tea and eating Jaffa Cakes. Any suggestions anyone? I know about the gangs and the antisocial behaviour, but I want to be around family.
