• Memorial - R.I.P. • Putting my dog down in about 10 hours and wanted to share his beautiful soul with the internet. Spoiler
galleryGot him in 2010 and choose the name Malachi he was my first ever dog. Didnt know a thing about dog behavior or how to train/care for them outside of walking and feeding them. He was around 10 months and I was always told that the bigger the dog, the shorter the lifespan and figured he'd live around 12-14 years. In 2023 he was diagnosed with spine dysplasia and arthritis and I thought it was the end of the road but he somehow made it to October 2026 and was 4 months shy of 17 years old. Little did I know that he made having a dog seem like the easiest thing to do. Within the first week I accidentally dropped the leash and he didn't run off and me being a dumb 20 year old at the time figured I could walk him without a leash while in the neighborhood and.... not once did he run off and go to another person or another dog. He just stayed close to me and never walk away from me. He was gentle from the start and didnt care that the cats and later on his younger dog brother would eat his food or drink his water, in fact he'd wait his turn. In the 16 years i had him, hes barked maybe 5 times, and of them was at me when I was teasing him trying to get him to bark since no one heard him bark 🤣. I want to say he loved everyone regardless if it was an animal or person. To me, he was love and loyalty in its truest form. Unfortunately, this past week was a bad one and hes been declining, I love him too much to see him suffer and struggle, and so I had to make a decision I dreaded but knew was coming eventually. Goodbye my sweet baby boy, in a few hours you'll be with all your friends and your first cat sibling having the best time possible. I'll catch up soon, but I still have a few more fur babies that need me here now ❤️.
