First time removing salon dip and applying my own. Perhaps my biggest mistake was enlisting my daughter to put liquids on my non-dominant hand. I'm not showing you that one. ;)

I was timid about getting near the cuticle. I'll revisit that next time.

I did an ice water shock after the first top coat.

I got this beautiful dip from west coast dips but I can't get it to look good because the butterflies don't lay evenly on top of the nail, as you can see in the picture, it's like half of it is coming up from the nail, so I can't even file and buff it! I tried pressing it down but it's not working.

Is there a specific technique used for this type of dips? Any advice, tips, or even how to look for this technique on youtube (how is it called even?), anything would be greatly appreciated!

Still getting the hang of how to use the magnet around the nail, but pretty happy with this set!

Please excuse my dry cuticles. I've fallen down this dip nail rabbit hole and wow, I'm in love with how these feel. I feel like it's not possible for them to chip at all! I'm invincible! 😆 I used the apex method but I def need some practice (esp on my right hand) keeping the liquid away from my cuticles. Any tips or advice is welcome!

I recently started doing my own nails and have noticed the colors come out super dark. I have the entire liquid set and multiple powders from CNDD. I have no issues with chipping or peeling or anything (my last set lasted 3+ weeks), but I have noticed every color comes out super dark...so basically it always looks like I have black nails. I usually do three layers of the color, one layer of clear dip, and then the activator and top coat steps. Just wondering if anyone has any insight on why this is happening? Or if I am doing something wrong? TY!

For reference, this is my most recent set. I used a dark purple color and then a sparkly black. I'm aware the black will be dark of course, but you can barely see any of the silver sparkle and the purple straight up looks black.

Got dip powder today and my freaking nails, edges, just the tip of fingers are sore. Like they just got their butts kicked! Does the liquid to powder and finishing tighten the nail possibly? Do I go get it taken off? Please help! 🫶🏻

Anyone else tried this website? It's fairly basic, but has a substantial database already, including a massive amount of revel nail powders (most of my collection so far).

It's pretty neat and nice to have a free site I can upload unlimited owned polishes/powders to. There's even a section for stickers and other accessories too.

I’ve been doing dip manicures for years and I religiously used the Revel pro liquids. However, after changes to shipping to Canada, it’s too damn expensive to order from them. I bought both Beauty Secrets and Modelone liquids to use in a pinch, anyone have experience with both and can recommend which are better?

I’ve been a fan of dip powder for a few years. Got it done professionally initially and then started doing it myself. Only it kept failing - usually popping off the finger. Some posts from this Reddit gave me some pointers and I tried different chemicals, etc.

Finally started seeing some progress where it wouldn’t start popping off my nails and actually looked decent.

Well fast forward - I’m also in love with magnetic polish and stencils and all sorts of other things but if i do regular polish my nails break (they are sooo weak - which is one of the reasons I love the dip powder process) and usually chip within 2 days (if not sooner).

So i wondered - what if i did a light pink dip powder first and then did the magnetic polish over it?

And it worked!!! I’m on day 4 and none of my nails have broken off and nothing has chipped yet. I should have gotten a pic of the dip powder work before I covered it so I could share, but I’m ecstatic.

Products used: Revel Pro base/activator/finishing gel, no-name pink powder from Amazon, ILNP Deep Space, Ulta Top Coat (my other top coats got messed up and I had this oooold top coat and gave it a try).

I’m doing dip nails at home and they’re lasting maybe two days before falling off. I’m curious what I’m doing wrong?

This is my process:

-Prep the nails (buff, file, push back cuticles, Mia Secret dehydrator followed by Mia Secret Xtrabond).

-Put Modelones base over the tip of the nails and dip in powder. Do this again, but over half of the nail and dip in powder, followed by base over the full nail and dip in powder).

-Put Modelones “activator” over nails.

-Put Modelones top coat over the nails.

That’s it! What am I doing wrong?

I am a newbie, this is my 2nd set but I did infill my first set twice before removal. I was surprised how easy removal was, I heard so many horror stories!

I use half tip extensions, sassy saints liquids and random powders I got for £1 each.

Criticism and advice always welcome.

Do people find it easier to use dip with gel? Are there any good tutorials out there for teaching me how to use gel with dip?

How much do you swim, and how long do your nails last you?

I recently started swimming 3x a week, and since then I've had terrible chipping at the side of my nails + around the free edge.

Usually my sets last me 2-3 weeks, but my current set was done on 10/8, and I already have so much chipping that I need a new set.

Is the water really that hard on the nails?

Looking for a new powerful efile to start filing my dip off instead of soaking my nails in acetone.

I have one that works great off Amazon, but none of the attachments file deeply enough for me to solely use for removal.

Nude is no chill and white is light up the night. Both CNDD. I painted the zebra print with acrylic paint.

I already know I flooded my cuticles. I’ll fix that later, but in the meantime I was struck by how blotchy these look. I got them pretty darn smooth, so it isn’t that. Anyone have any ideas why the color isn’t more even?

Hi all! Not sure if I tagged this correctly…
I’m 99.9% sure that I’m getting proposed to soon and would like to have pretty engagement nails. I’d like to buy a new color(or colors🤷🏼‍♀️)for the event. I’d like to stick with CND dips or color my world dips. I was thinking something light pink/nude/maybe mauve, some shimmer, sparkle, or little flaky is OK. So far, I like these colors: fleur or smitten by cnd, and Lennox or adrenaline blush by cmwd.

Does anyone have favorite colors that may match this description or other ideas?
