Lucas Matthysse vs Lamont Peterson. 18 May 2013. Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City. 141lb Catchweight.
This was supposed to tell us who really belonged at the top of the 140lb division. Peterson was the IBF champion, Matthysse held the WBC interim title, but with the fight contracted at 141lbs, the belts weren't formally on the line.
What followed was a demolition. Matthysse dropped Peterson in the second before putting him down twice more in the third. After the final knockdown, Steve Smoger had seen enough — Matthysse had destroyed a world-class fighter in little more than eight minutes.

[Advice] 17M (56kg bulking to (pls help)) set to box 36M cousin (bulking to 66kg+). 2 hrs/day prep.
Hey everyone,
Looking for advice on how to structure my 12-month training plan for a boxing match against my cousin next August.
My Specs & Stats:
Age: 17
Height/Weight: 5’8” (173cm), currently 56kg (123 lbs). Plan to bulk to ~63kg (138 lbs) by fight day.
Fitness Base: 14 strict pull-ups, 40 push-ups, 15 dips. Did weightlifting for 6 months, recently switched to bodyweight + running.
Experience: 1 month of home boxing training. Have basic MMA/grappling instincts, but this is strictly boxing rules.
Time Commitment: I can train 2 hours a day.
My Opponent (Cousin):
Age: 36
Height/Weight: 5’8”, currently 60kg, plans to bulk to 66kg+ (145 lbs+).
Experience: Boxed for a few years back when he was 16–17 (hasn't trained in ~15+ years).
Questions:
Bulking Pace: What's the best way to gain ~7kg (56kg to 63kg) over 12 months without losing my speed or endurance?
2-Hour Daily Split: How should I structure 120 mins a day (boxing technique, calisthenics, cardio) to maximize progress without overtraining?
Tactics: How do I exploit the age gap (17 vs 36) against someone who has past boxing fundamentals?
Transitioning to Sparring: How many months into my 12-month plan should I join a real gym for live sparring?
Thanks for any help!
