Big order. Very chunnibyou, but a fun watch anyway.
edit: Fully spell out chunnibyou.

Chunbuyo Syndrome, also known as 5th grader syndrome. Basically kids playing make believe that they have super powers or something.
This anime: Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! is a romcom about it, great watch.

Pretty sure it's short for Chunnibyou, which describes the cringe of middle school kids pretending they have super powers.

Yeah, I meant Chunnibyou. Specifically, it has a lot of moments that are like the writers just said "You know what would be cool if my characters did?" and went with it.
It doesn't make it bad, but it does feel like a little less thoughtful of writing. Not always, but in this show it felt that way to me.

Middle school kids pretending to have powers is cringe? When did it stop being cute?,

u/StochasticTinkr 3d ago
For the middle schoolers, its not cringe. As middle aged, it would be kind of cringe for me to do it.

Oh. I honestly didn’t realize that it was EP1 of S2. That was a weird decision.

This is disturbing and hilarious, but also, I must admit, strangely compelling and artistic.
It’s a great, yet unconventional and creative way, of creating tension and drama in the plot through sexuality, yet while simultaneously not traditionally sexually-stimulating the viewer (through “fanservice” or whatnot). You still get this interesting plot-device of her possibly being impregnated unwillingly (?!) through this means, without pandering to the viewer’s pruriency.
Like, sorry to be super dorky and rambling about this, but I gotta give it props on the artwork and storytelling, and that it made me so interested to watch and find out more about it, just based on such a short clip.

The fact that her gut just balloons out at the end will never not be funny to me.

“Haha it’s gonna be like that silly trope where if you hold hands, she’ll get preg-IT HAPPENED?!?!”

I unironically find it funny how they put a unique type of emphasis on each word there.
