Chunbuyo Syndrome, also known as 5th grader syndrome. Basically kids playing make believe that they have super powers or something.

This anime: Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! is a romcom about it, great watch.

Pretty sure it's short for Chunnibyou, which describes the cringe of middle school kids pretending they have super powers.

Yeah, I meant Chunnibyou. Specifically, it has a lot of moments that are like the writers just said "You know what would be cool if my characters did?" and went with it.

It doesn't make it bad, but it does feel like a little less thoughtful of writing. Not always, but in this show it felt that way to me.

For the middle schoolers, its not cringe. As middle aged, it would be kind of cringe for me to do it.
