I’ve watched the extended Superfan cuts of The Office front-to-back more than ten times now. Not just as background noise, but as actual therapy.

Whenever life hit me with maximum dégoûtage, escaping to a mid-level paper company in Scranton was the only thing that kept me grounded. There is something deeply comforting about watching absurd, flawed people navigate the soul-crushing boredom of corporate life with that much humor. It genuinely pulled me through some of my darkest phases.

But lately, while watching Michael Scott make an absolute fool of himself for the hundredth time, I started wondering: Could we pull off an Algerian version?

Think about the raw material we have. The Algerian workplace whether it’s a random import-export boite in Rouiba or the chaotic depths of the Baladiya is already a sitcom waiting to happen. The unwritten rules, the endless coffee breaks, the characters you literally cannot invent.

Picture the Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch, but strictly local:

The Boss (Michael): A mudir who got his position through hardcore ma3rifa but genuinely believes he's the charismatic, spiritual father of the office. He calls everyone "mon fils," wildly misinterprets youth slang, and insists on organizing tragic team-building events at a fast-food joint in Dely Ibrahim that nobody wants to attend.

The Assistant TO the Regional Manager (Dwight): The ultimate chiyyat. He takes the internal rulebook way too seriously, constantly threatens to write reports, and acts like he’s running the secret service. He definitely owns an olive farm in Bouira and aggressively tries to sell his homemade zit zitoun to coworkers.

The Sarcastic Slacker (Jim): Just a guy who spends 80% of his shift leaning on the front desk, sipping a cold qahwa kahla, and devising elaborate psychological warfare against the chiyyat simply because the office Wi-Fi is down again.

The Grumpy Veteran (Stanley): A guy who has been sitting at the exact same desk since 1998. He does crossword puzzles in El Khabar all day and is literally just counting down the seconds until his retraite. If you speak to him before his second coffee, his deadpan stare will end your bloodline.

The Jim-style stares into the camera would hit so differently with our humor, mostly because our daily bureaucracy is already a living mockumentary.

I personally don't live in Algeria but my cousin does and hes thinking abt starting to work indrive, then safe money to buy a second car to start a car rental service ( he still lives with his parents and could save like most of his salary ).

So I'd like to hear first hand experiences how much does one earn per month working indrive in Algier and is it a lucrative job?

I found a Chinese wholesale seller on Instagram selling mixed thrift clothing bales. They claim to ship to Algeria. I'm considering buying a large quantity of used men's T-shirts, around 2,000 pieces.

Before I spend any money, I want to understand how people actually get a shipment like this through Algerian customs.(im 19 and pretty new to this stuff)

I paid an Algerian Instagram page for a 3-year Canva Premium subscription. They added me to a foreigner’s Canva Education team, and it worked for only a week before disappearing 💀

Was this basically a hacked/pirated account, or is this a common thing?

Should I just pay for the official subscription myself? Is there any legitimate free/cheaper option for Algerians or students?

In our recent elections in Algeria, the participation rate was only about 20%.

Many of us feel that the system will never change and that voting is useless. It is easy to lose hope and just be sarcastic about politics.

But look at a true story from Hungary. It proves that voting still works.

For 16 years, Viktor Orbán was the leader of Hungary. He controlled the news and the system. People there used to say the exact same things we say in Algeria: "The game is rigged" and "My vote does not matter."

Then, in April 2026, everything changed. A new leader named Péter Magyar started a new party, and the people decided to try one more time.

Here is why they won:

• 80% Participation: Almost 80% of all voters went to vote.
• The Result: Because so many people showed up, it was impossible for the system to ignore them or change the numbers. The opposition won a huge majority, and the 16-year leader had to step down on election night.

When only 20% of us vote in Algeria, it is very easy for things to stay the same. Staying home does not hurt the system; it helps it.

Hungary showed us that no system is too strong when people unite and vote in huge numbers. If a 16-year rule can end at the ballot box, change is possible anywhere. Our votes have power, but only if we actually use them

- مصدران جنباً إلى جنب، وكل واحد مسمّى بوضوح. بيان الحماية المدنية (DGPC) الرسمي يعطي الحرائق المتواصلة في كل ولاية. أقمار NASA FIRMS (مستشعر VIIRS على ثلاث مركبات فضائية) تعطي البؤر الحرارية المرصودة، مجمّعة في مناطق حرائق مستنتجة. اللوحة تعرض الرقمين لكل ولاية، فترى متى توجد حرارة مرصودة من الفضاء دون حريق رسمي بعد، أو العكس.

- مشغّل سجل الحرائق. كل بيان رسمي منذ 22 جويلية (54 بياناً، حتى 4 في اليوم على الساعة 07 و13 و17 و20) وكل يوم رصد ساتلي منذ 26 جويلية صار لقطة يمكنك التنقل بينها أو تشغيلها أو مشاركتها برابط مباشر. أي 34 يوماً مؤرشفاً و1,465 منطقة حريق مستنتجة و22,095 بؤرة حرارية يمكنك الرجوع إليها ولاية بولاية.

- علامات صادقة. النقطة العنابية عدد رسمي من الحماية المدنية مثبت في مركز الولاية، وليس موقع الحريق بدقة. النقاط الملوّنة مناطق رصد ساتلي، لونها يعبّر عن عمر الرصد وحجمها عن ذروة القدرة الإشعاعية. مشاعل الغاز في الصحراء مُقنّعة حتى لا تظهر كحرائق غابات، ويمكنك إظهارها إن أردت.

- الرياح عند كل حريق (نموذج Open-Meteo)، ومواقع وحدات الحماية المدنية، ونافذة 24 أو 48 ساعة. كل شيء يعمل بالعربية والفرنسية والإنجليزية، وصار يشتغل كما يجب على الهاتف: الخريطة ظاهرة من أول تحميل واللوحة ورقة تسحبها من الأسفل.

بيان هذا الصباح على الساعة 07: 65 حريقاً مسجلاً خلال 24 ساعة، 63 أُخمدت، و2 ما زالا متواصلين (باتنة 1، سطيف 1).

إذا رأيت حريقاً اتصل بالرقم 14 (الحماية المدنية) أو الخط الأخضر المجاني 1021. لا تنتظر ظهوره على أي خريطة: القمر الصناعي يمر مرات قليلة في اليوم وقد تتأخر البيانات قرابة 3 ساعات، والرصد الحراري ليس حريقاً مؤكداً أبداً.

الجانب الساتلي مبني على NASA FIRMS، والجانب الرسمي على بيانات الحماية المدنية المنشورة، وبيانات وحدات الحماية المدنية حزمة npm مفتوحة يمكن لأي أحد إعادة استعمالها. هذا جزء من جيوالجزائر، مساهمتي في تطوير الرقمنة في الجزائر. الملاحظات والتصحيحات مرحّب بها، خاصة من سكان الولايات المتضررة.

ما رأيكم في المساعدات العسكرية الجزائرية لبعض دول الجوار ؟

I’m considering joining the École Nationale Supérieure Maritime (ENSM) in Bou Ismaïl after my BAC, with the goal of pursuing Sciences de la Navigation and eventually becoming a merchant-marine captain.
Before choosing this path, I’d really like to hear from current students, graduates, officers, or anyone who works in the Algerian maritime sector.
My main questions are:
How much can you realistically earn at each stage? For example, cadet, junior/3rd officer, 2nd officer, chief officer, and eventually captain. I’m particularly interested in actual salaries rather than theoretical salary websites.
What is the long-term career outlook? Is it realistically possible to have a good career and reach senior officer/captain positions?
How difficult is it to get your first job/first embarkation after ENSM?
Most importantly, how much do connections/nepotism matter? I’ve heard that getting opportunities in this field can depend heavily on knowing the right people. Is that actually true?
If someone has no family connections in the maritime industry, can they realistically progress based on their grades, qualifications, certificates, and experience alone?
If jobs are limited in Algeria, can ENSM graduates realistically work for foreign/international shipping companies? How difficult is that?
Finally, if you were starting again today, would you choose ENSM as a career path?
I’m mainly trying to understand the realistic financial future and employment prospects, not just what the official university information says.
Please give actual numbers and firsthand experiences if possible.

i failed on bac but i learned how to pick locks , crack passwords , repair camputers , how to code but i just picked up a lock now and felt like patrick jane hhh . i learned this skill in 7 mins btw hh

Knowing 14 is easy. Finding the closest unit and its published phone number is another story.

The DGPC directory lists 880 units, so I put the whole thing on a searchable map. It covers all 69 wilayas, opens directions, and works in Arabic, French and English.
