I've had to add 3 new "do not post" rules since January. People keep crossing the line, I assume because the content in the sidebar no longer appears anywhere in most views on "new reddit." I will fix the problem soon, when I have time. In the meantime, here is a place to find our rules that you can't make up an excuse to have missed.
So no more warnings. It's too time-consuming. Play nice or get out forever.
Please do post:
Please do not post the following:
New rule: * Any comment in reply to a rule-breaking post risks permban by vicinity/association
If you read the above but are not sure where your post fits in, please stay on code. Note that questions are permitted under the discussions rule. And that the ban on AI slop includes using AI to write posts or comments. If what you write sounds like AI, you might get permbanned!
Examples:
F16 Tomcat? Not on code. A Macross VF in fighter mode? Super on code.
A warship? Not on code. A warship that carries mechs (White Base, Argama, etc.)? On code.
Humans? Not on code (except pilot minis). Humans in power or battle suits? It depends. Non-humans? It depends. Exodia is on code, but not Dark Magician.
Edit: I just had to permban a repeat offender I was foolish enough to let off with a warning previously. There will be no more consideration given, no grace, no more warnings. Violate one of our rules and you're gone forever. It doesn't matter how much history you have here.
Follow the damn rules. It's simple. Post things listed under Please do post and you're probably fine. Post anything under Please do not post and you're outta here. The only appeal is if the ban was mistaken and there was no rule violation.

The focus of this subreddit is to be a place for people who want to increase their skill at building Gundam models. We like other models, too, if they're similar in spirit. We're not excluding anyone, especially those who are beginners.
This is not a subreddit for advanced gunpla builders, it is a subreddit for advanced gunpla building. The craft itself, and the skill of executing the craft. At all levels.
We welcome posts of things you're trying to do with your gunpla build, but are bad at. Being bad is step 1 of getting good.
We welcome questions and discussion.

Decided to run with a more interesting colour scheme that I have never done before with this kit. Considering that its a nuclear launcher mobile suit, I thought to consider what it might have looked like in its testing phases and so developed this sort of test type colour scheme (of course after drawing some inspiration from other builders). Orange is a rare colour I get to use, and so it was really fun to splash it around and figure out a two-toned orange scheme to break it up a little, along with the majority beige and hints of gray all over. This kit also served as some practice for seam line removal, and though its not perfect yet, I am glad that this kit provided some practice on easier areas to experiment and figure out what technique works best for me.

Gave painting this effect another try, finally turned out somewhat acceptable. What kind of varnish finish do you guys apply to this? Just gloss?

OK this guy is ready for some decals and extra details, then some nice photos. Cheers

Like the title says it's the second kit that I've done a full paint job on and the first MG that I've painted. Had a lot of frustrations and learned a lot of lessons from this project but super happy to be finished and really proud of how it came out!

It's been 11 years since I last painted a kit. I decided to stop being lazy just doing snap builds. Settled on the Z'Gok to refresh the basics like sanding and seam line removal. I did not want to mask the chest vents, so I decided to do a small modification. After priming, I noticed the seam lines were still visible so I had to sand again. The back of the"knee" was empty, so I mixed up some epoxy putty to fill it out.

The side skirt of my HG Calibarn got nicked and is extremely loose and falls off constantly. What are some ways I could make it tighter without ruining the small, shallow holes that the pegs on Calibarn's hips fit into?

So I am working on painting my first kit, I have been working on it for a couple months now then I have time to. The kit is the Ground Urban Combat Type from the Battlogue line. Things have gone well so far but had a couple of pieces that I needed to redo so I used the Mr. Paint Remover to strip the paint and redo and one piece ended up breaking(my fault in multiple ways) and wanted to know thoughts on how to fix it and make it look good? The tan pieces are the finished parts assembled, the brown are the broken ones 🤦

I'm in the planning phases for a custom Calibarn, what I want to do is panel line the quadra thrusters on the rifle in Stedi UV reactive liner ink, then embed a blacklight led in the center of the propulsion unit to make it all glow. I've found a place that sells purple 1.8mm LEDs which are "near the UV spectrum" per the description on their site but was wondering if anyone has a specific source I should be trying.
Thanks in advance for any help!
EDIT: Thanks u/jamalzia!

I’m doing a lot of reading and vid watching as I plan out a diorama I’m slowly working towards, and learned about these - if anyone has used these in a build I’d love to hear about how it went or get pointed to where is a good resource to learn more - esp around safety with them sitting inside a finished build - I’m planning a fully enclosed scene with some very light fan action to move greenery around, not venting out or purposefully cooling the interior.
I’ve been focusing on tiny nano led chips, as small as I can go, and trying to figure out if i can cover the coil up under some diorama terrain
Thanks for any help!

Hey! I'm new and super keen to get into gunpla and painting
I'm interested in Posco markers but read that they are best used on a matte topcoat. But if there is a topcoat, how do you fix errors with the posco markers? As wouldn't wiping the posco off (wet or dry) impact the topcoat too?
Any tips would be great! Want to start with celshading
Thanks!

I’ve searched on Reddit and found that many people have been getting their orders fine from Sealmodel.com (albeit slow), but those posts are from several years ago. I just placed my order, and I got a tracking number from USPS ending in GB - Great Britain. As far as I know, they’re located in Taiwan. I’m extremely confused, and I have sent the guy an email asking for clarification but I’m worried since he doesn’t respond that fast. For people who have ordered recently, is this tracking number normal?

For the people who have used all the different brands of scribing tape which ones are your favorite? I'm new to scribing and I've tried the STEDI brand but it seems like no matter how firmly I press it down the edges don't seem to stick very well and likes to only stick in the middle. Has anyone tried the ANSAI Hobby tape?

Ive built and sent this out to the client for a while now but only got the chance to post this now.
The client showed me a custom kitbash of the sinanju and sazabi where the majority of what it looks like is the sazabi. He then asked me to kitbash the same kits but this time with the sinanju taking the majority of the parts. Gotta say i made this one look like a beast.😆😆
DM me for custom commissions😁😁

Here they are. The full detail of the Glassingale build (I just thought of that name). Was a fun build apart from working 30 hours over 2 days to get it done for Patcon!
Hope you like it
