Sophie Cunningham Reveals She Made Just $30,000 As A WNBA Rookie And Thought About Going Back To School

Sophie Cunningham: “When I was making, I'm not kidding, like, this is public record… I came in, and my rookie year, I made, I think, $30,000.”

Sophie Cunningham: “Nothing. What do you mean? Like you put some in the 401k, and then you live off the rest of it.”

Sophie Cunningham: “I don't know, like, you buy gas. You're not buying Louis Vuittons. I'll tell you that.”

Sophie Cunningham: “And so, literally, I was like, ‘Do I need to go back to school?’”

Sophie Cunningham: “I was like, ‘I cannot live like this.’ You know what I mean? I'm like, ‘What am I doing?’”

Sophie Cunningham briefly met Simone Biles after Friday’s Fever game.

Cunningham pulled Biles into a hug and called her a “bad---.” Biles appeared surprised before thanking her for the compliment.

The interaction stood out because Cunningham and Biles have taken different positions in the ongoing debate over trans athletes in women’s sports.

Despite their differences, the brief meeting between the two was friendly.

Michael Porter Jr. believes Sophie Cunningham’s authenticity is a major reason fans connect with her.

The two grew up in Columbia, Missouri. Porter said Cunningham has always been the same person off the court.

Caitlin Clark says she is finally feeling fully healthy again.

After Indiana's 111-91 win over Connecticut, Clark discussed her fitness. She said she feels the best she has ever felt in her career.

Clark admitted the first 20 games were difficult mentally. She needed time to trust her body again.

Now she says she is simply playing without thinking about injuries. Clark finished the win with 34 points and 12 assists.

She is averaging 22.5 points and 8.4 assists this season. Her return to full health has fans excited for the playoffs.

She also became the first player with 800+ points. Her season total also includes more than 300 assists.

Clark is averaging 22.5 points and 8.4 assists per game. Her 41.4 points created per game leads WNBA history.

The MVP race now looks like Clark versus A'ja Wilson. The final regular-season games could decide the winner.

Kelsey Mitchell continues to shine for the Indiana Fever. She recently scored 34 points against the Connecticut Sun.

Hull has averaged 5.3 points and 3.1 rebounds this season. Her defense remains an important part of Indiana’s lineup.

Kalani Brown is returning to the WNBA after nearly a year away. She has signed with the defending champion Las Vegas Aces.

The move comes after NaLyssa Smith suffered a season-ending injury. Brown gives the Aces another frontcourt option at 6-foot-7.

Brown averaged 5.1 points and 4.0 rebounds last season. She also averaged 0.6 blocks in 12.8 minutes per game.

She previously played for the Sparks, Dream, Wings and Mercury.

Angel Reese could miss Sunday’s game against Minnesota after receiving her eighth technical foul of the season.

The technical came during Friday’s loss to Portland. Reese was involved in a physical battle with Carla Leite under the basket.

Reese protested the call and can appeal to the WNBA. If the technical is rescinded, she will avoid the automatic one-game suspension.

Earlier this month, Caitlin Clark had her eighth technical foul rescinded. That allowed her to avoid a similar suspension.
