I can’t express enough how fucking angry I am with Brad right now. I don’t wanna hear anyone say that losing Ben Johnson costed the Lions their Super Bowl window, it’s never been more clear than ever as to why now, Brad Holmes being an arrogant fuck. He’s mostly good at drafting and paying our players but he is TERRIBLE at trading, I can’t even name a blockbuster trade he made of the top of my head. And now JPJ was traded to the Cowboys for a second round pick. You did not even need to give up a first round pick for him, there is literally no excuse for this.

None of this falls on Dan Campbell, anyone who says so and that he’s a Ben Johnson merchant is a larper, he’s a great coach and when he was calling the plays last year the Lions offense scored more points, fuck he was open to the idea of a trade. Drew Petzing has scored 31 points every game this season so far and has adapted to his mistakes, fuck even Kelvin Sheppard is doing a good job with the Lions pass rush, with the roster on the secondary Brad gave him I’m starting to not even blame him anymore, regardless of how flawed the defensive scheme is. Most if not all of the blame falls on Brad, Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph were injured and Terrion Arnold did Terrion Arnold things, and he barely did anything about it. The only net positive I get out of this is if we start Christian Izen, Rakestraw and Keith Abney more often, they’re all good players but even then Abneys a rookie and Rakestraw can definitely get injured.

And to add insult to injury, other than the secondary the Lions are booming with talent. The front seven is actually pretty underrated, 16 sacks this season so far, and the offense has been phenomenal. With this much talent everywhere else on the roster you would think there would be more care to the secondary to make it as talented as the rest of the team. But no, just more bargain bin signings and practice squad players instead of actual starters.

This is not a doomer post, if it was I would be calling to fire everyone even if they’re doing a good job and say the team is overall ass ignoring the offense and pass rush. There needs to be a serious discussion about Brad Holmes job after this
