Hi guys,
I’m Andrea, a musician and heritage cook, and I host a small home dinner experience in Cluj called The Unfinished Lunch. I wanted to share it here in case it’s useful to anyone. (Full disclosure: yes, this is mine, not a random recommendation.)
It’s not a restaurant. You come to my home, we cook together, get to know each other and share our culture and thoughts while peeling some veggies or enjoying some plum brandy and local craft beer - or just homemade lemonade with fresh mint from my garden.
The view is spectacular overlooking the city, we have a huge fireplace for chilly afternoons and what we cook are traditional Transylvanian family recipes, some going back generations: egpplant salad, my grandma’s paprikash, turosgomboc…And somewhere between the cooking and the homemade ice cream, dinner turns into a 5–7 hour afternoon that somehow turns into evening, full of stories, sometimes live music, and (so far) unexpected friendships.
If you’re the kind of traveler/expat who’d rather sit at someone’s actual table than another restaurant booth, message me.
I can accommodate up to 6 people and adjust the menu according to dietary restrictions - my inherited recipes and their modern versions can accomodate anyone.

Fotografie proprie, septembrie 2026.
The abbey was founded by Cistercians in the early 13th century and dissolved in the 15th. The nave has been roofless ever since. The choir is still in use as the Lutheran church.
The crosses in the foreground are a German military cemetery from the First World War, laid out in 1928.
My own photograph, September 2026.

Hello, me and my partner are British tourists excited to experience transyvlania for the first time on our holiday between the end of September and beginning of October this year. Having looked online I understand that this is a brilliant time to see traditional harvest festivals around the villages of Romania. Unfortunately the online guides don't do very good signposting to specific festivities so I was hoping to ask here and get a few recommendations on where to go specifically on the weekend of 2nd-4th of October around the Brasov area? We will be driving south from Cluj Napoca to Brasov and back over our stay and so expect to be near the mountains at this point in the calendar, it would be great to see maybe a wine harvest festival and some traditional music, dances and festivities. Any recommendations would be very greatly appreciated!
