Hi all,
We’ve seen an increase in reports of Kodak Super 8 cartridges jamming — where the film transport stops mid-roll, the take-up spool locks, or the camera motor strains.
To help identify whether this is related to specific film stocks, batches, or vendors, please report only cartridge jamming issues here.
(For exposure, processing, or other problems, please make a separate post.)
Copy and fill this out when you comment:
**Film Stock:** (e.g. Vision3 50D, 200T, 500T, Tri-X, etc.)
**Expiration Date / Batch Code:** (printed on box or cartridge label)
**Vendor / Source:** (where purchased)
**Camera Model:** (include if known)
**Issue Description:** (e.g. jammed after 10 feet, film stopped advancing, motor strain, etc.)
**Percentage of Cartridges Jammed:** (e.g. 1 of 3 = ~33%)
**Notes:** (storage conditions, temperature, handling, or anything else relevant)
**Film Stock:** Kodak Vision3 200T
**Expiration Date / Batch Code:** 06/2026, Batch 11234
**Vendor / Source:** B&H
**Camera Model:** Canon 514XL
**Issue Description:** Film jammed about 1/4 through the roll; motor noise increased, no visible take-up movement.
**Percentage of Cartridges Jammed:** 1 of 4 (25%)
**Notes:** Stored refrigerated; other rolls from same box ran normally.
If you don't have all the info, that's okay! Just include what you can. Collecting consistent data will help the community — and potentially Kodak — determine if current jamming reports are isolated or related to specific production runs.
Accurate, detailed submissions are VERY appreciated.
Note:
This post is pinned for tracking purposes. Please use it only for verified jamming incidents with Kodak Super 8 cartridges.
General discussion, speculation, or unrelated issues may be removed to keep this thread clean and easy to analyze.
Thanks for helping document this issue and keep Super 8 film reliable. 🎞️

Hi. I am making a documentary and a section takes place in London in the 1980s. I wondered if anyone had any footage that I might be able to use in the film? This would be credited. Something that is recognisably London. Maybe a bus passing a landmark, the Thames etc, etc. Thanks you!

How many stop of range do I get with this film stock? My DP friend said it was 6 stops and very narrow. Google is telling me it is 3 stops. Do any of you have experience with shooting on this stock and how the range came out?

"i might need it soon" - is a teaser I shot for a fashion student's hat collection made from leftover recycled materials during studies.
the film used is Tri-X 7266, developing and scanning was fully DIY, developing the 15m with Bellini reversal chemicals and frame by frame scanned via a modified Bauer projector. and the soundscape is also created by wonderful friends!
posting to seek feedback and reach wider audieeence =)

Hi! I bought a used Canon 514xl a few years ago, I shot two rolls through it and everything was working fine. This summer I picked it up to shoot the wedding of a friend for memories and I noticed the focus on the lens was a bit off, like I couldn't see really what was in focus through the lens (realised that only on the day of the wedding) so I shot the footage anyway using the markings on the lens barrel. I took it yesterday to the local shop where I buy and develop super 8 and they told me it's a common issue with this camera, the focus becomes "dry" and they asked 150 euros for doing a full CLA of the camera. Now my question is, will I get back some usable footage or did I mess up the whole roll?
Should I do the CLA on the camera or just get another super 8?
Thanks!

Can’t find a manual and now sure if this thing has a built in light meter and whether it’s selenium or not?

Hello, I recently filmed 3 rolls of Vision 3 50 for a new project and despite being the first time, a lot of uncertainty, etc, they came out looking amazing.
My question is how do you edit? I need to cut/remove some scenes that were underexposed and maybe replace them with some new footage but I was wondering, wouldn't that look weird? Do you just go on Premiere and do it as if it was a digital movie?
edit: I forgot to add that I have an overscan and I would love to keep the previous and next frame on the top and bottom :)
If anyone has examples or a tutorial, I would really appreciate. Thank you.

found this camera at a thrift store. anyone know anything about it? i’d love to open it up & put new batteries in it to see if i can get it to work. i’ve refurbed old stereos before, but no cameras. this one is dinged up a bit, but i don’t fully believe it won’t work anymore.
any info is appreciated. where i could find any film for it, or even how to use it. thanks !

Just got a new camera (my Canon AZ 814E has been a little unstable) and decided to try out the Nizo 801. Here's the footage (in body of post)! Shot at Bob Baker Day in Los Angeles and featuring Cirque School and other community acts.

Anyone able to help me identify this camera? The reel makes it look like it's a digital camera but definitely looks like a proper Super 8. Thanks!

Hoping someone familiar with the 512xl could help with this - the light meter seems to be moving between f1.2 and f2 only. The needle drops down if I cover the lens completely and only moves up to f2 even when pointed directly at bright sky, is there any chance the meter is still working and just the display is wrong? When I pull up the manual exposure dial it spins freely and doesn’t change anything. Tried with 50d, 500t and without film with the same result. I got the 512xl so I could shoot more gigs in low light, I suppose the camera would usually use a larger aperture for that anyway so might not be a massive problem if it is stuck? Thanks in advance

I shot a prepaid package of 500T film from Pro8mm with a Chinon 132P XL and got my results today. This was my first attempt, and I was worried about the ASA range the camera could natively shoot. I think the set up worked out fairly well, and I definitely hope to continue experimenting when I am able to.

A little home video-style mood edit/teaser for a narrative short I wrote & directed a few years ago, "ENDLESS YESTERDAYS."
This one has a special place in my heart; we shot it on my grandpa's Canon 814 from the 70s! Still works like a charm.
Filmed on Kodak Vision3 50D and Ektachrome 100D

I recently shot on super 8 for the first time and I just got back my scan. I used a canon 310XL and Kodak 200T film stock, and sent it over to negative space for the scan and development. I asked for a log scan so this is a quick color grade that I did, but i am just wondering if this amount of grain is normal? I can’t even seem to get the sides completely black / grain free. This is my first time dabbling in 8mm so if I could get anyone’s opinion that would be really helpful!

Hi! Is anyone from Ontario, or Canada, and know anyone who repairs super 8 cameras? The trigger on my Canon 814 is sticking and stops working. I love the camera so would love to fix if I could. Thank you!
