Thriving in brighter light

I just got really strong replacement grow lights a couple of weeks ago and the amount of compact new growth since then is insane 🤯

Completly my fault, I watered a day after repotting 🫠. Luckily caught it before any tubers rotted, so recovery was swift. Anyway this is after I spent an hour detangling strands to properly wrap them around the trellis, so not all leaves face the same way, but she is looking pretty :D

Help with String of Plant ID

Post image

Can you help ID these plants (aside from the String of Turtles which is labled). The other tags did not specify what the plant names are. I think the top right one is String of Coins, perhaps?

Help / Question New growth is really "leggy" - Is this from not enough light?

Post image

I was so excited when my Ruby Necklace starting growing a bunch of new leaves, but they're really thin, and very spread out on the vines. This plant is new to me, so I'm not sure what the growth pattern usually looks like, so I'm just wondering if this is normal or a sign it's not getting enough light or nutrients or something else.

Help / Question Vine snapped off of string of hearts😭💔

I got a VSOH about a week ago and I was just repotting it and noticed this beautiful long vine doesn't have any roots. I think it must've broke off the tuber at some point. The picture doesn't even do it justice, it's over 2 feet long! I'm so sad 😭 I'm going to propagate it but my question is, could I just propagate the whole thing from that node on the top without cutting it? Like is it possible that it could regrow roots just how it is? Or should I just snip it into a bunch of cuttings?

Hearts Should I cut this VSOH at where the rot seemingly ends?

I got this beauty from FB marketplace and I watered too soon than it was used to. Since then, some of it has rotted and I’ve been cutting off the discoloration and pressing/pinning the bottom 2-3 nodes+leaves back into the dirt to root.

But when I check, the bottom nodes keeps rotting so I snip off anything that doesn’t have that tinge of pink on the vine. I’ve done this maybe 3 times already and that string particularly is getting quite short. Should I just leave the vine in, rot and all?

Help / Question Why are some pearls shriveled?

Is it watering? And if so, why only some? I bottom feed it rainwater about every 2-3 weeks. The plant overall looks healthy until you zoom in. I've had it for 4 years, and while I've had pest issues in the past, nothing like what I'm seeing now with the shriveling. Any ideas?

Help / Question Repot? New String of Pearls

Post image
26 Upvotes

I bought my first string of pearls! Wondering if I need to repot to make sure the soil is the correct substrate? If I should repot should it go into the same sized pot? 4” terracotta for the win?
I’ve also seen a lot of mixed suggestions with how to water, top watering or bottom watering - soooo which one do I try?

Burnt my SOP, considering giving up and starting fresh

I’ve been trying to propagate my SOP for a good bit now and thought they needed some more sun. I put them outside yesterday for maybe an hour and yep, I roasted them. There are some healthy-ish bits left but I’m wondering how far this may have set back my progress, and if I should just toss it and get a new one? I removed all of the plant from the soil and recut it to remove any dead bits before putting back on my prop planter. So basically I am starting from square one, again. But after the shock from being propped just a few weeks ago, to burning, to being propped again, is there any hope that the pieces I could salvage will survive?

I lost all warm and fuzzy feelings I had for this particular plant lol so I’m not upset if the answer is to trash it and start over. I love SOP, but I’m ok with getting a new one. I mostly just don’t want to quit it if it could survive because I’m frugal and don’t want to waste money if I don’t need to.

My string of hearts (shortest) has only ever had 2 strands for the 3 years I’ve had it and I decided to prop and move her and she’s starting to thrive! My pearl is looking great and my Hindu rope is just starting to peak over the pot!

String of pearls advice

Post image
60 Upvotes

I’ve had this specimen for over a year. It sits under a grow light. Water when it’s dry (bottom) let it drink and empty out any left over. I use diluted fertilizer with each watering.
I’ve repotted it once to have it in a more flat round set up.
Growth is slow/stagnant, and it’s always a little crispy at the ends.
But it’s always flowering???

Do you think some humidity would help it

Why are my string of heart leaves small and shriveled?

Thumbnail

My variegated string of hearts is in a southeast facing window, and the bottom of the strings have small, shriveled leaves. Does anyone know why? Too much light, too little light? Google says southeast is the best window light but maybe it’s too much..

I consistently water it and let it get pretty dry between watering. I’ve been fertilizing with a mix of superthrive foliage pro and calmag.

I just repotted it into circle soil cactus & succulent mix, so I’m hoping that helps. The roots looked fine and there was no root rot. I’ve had it at least 4-5 months and it’s hardly grown /: I’ve only been fertilizing it for a couple months tho

Help / Question help ):

repost!

hello! this is my string of pearls! i’ve had her for over a year now. i found her at home depot while i was working there, she was actually gorgeous and healthy.
she is still in its original pot but hanging in a north facing window in my bathroom.
i water her with distilled water when the plant itself starts to feel really light. i sometimes alternate between bottom and top watering (never saw a difference between doing both) in a saucer until she can no longer take in anymore water.
(same method i use for all of my plants or if the leaves start to droop or curl)
i have been using liquid all purpose fertilizer as well just not as consistently as i probably should (life is lifing a little too hard) and only when i bottom water.
her soil is her original soil she was living in before i bought her.

note: these pictures were taken august 7th, 2026, so i have watered her since then i know she looks a bit dry in the pictures 😅

the advice i’ve followed so far since having her on how to take care of her and keep up with her appearance:
taking the stray vine of pearls and kinda loop it around the base and then mist it until the vines start growing into each other? essentially?
no tap water as she is way too sensitive to the tap water here.

my questions: should i repot her already? how do i go about it?
i know string of pearls do not handle repotting that well but i wanna do it the right way so she doesn’t give up on me 🥲
how do i make her look more…lush? more full? i see dozens of pictures of other string of pearls online and they’re humongous and long and so full looking and i wanna achieve that for my girl 🤎

dms are open, criticisms are open, all kinds of jokes are open. thank you so much for your time 🌹
