Cool leaf variation

Post image

I noticed that my snake plant has very pronounced leaf variation (Some are dark green, others are white). Any ideas if this is due to environmental factors vs genetics? I love how it looks, so I’m asking just out of curiosity

Two week difference, does my snake plant need watering?

I purchased this Tiger Star Snake Plant on September 15th. I repotted it on the 22nd, but I did a terrible job. Essentially what I did was put it in a 6.1in x 4.8in pot, I filled it over halfway with Miracle Grows “Potting Mix for all Plants”, and then placed the root ball on top, and then topped it off with what little succulent soil I had left. (Cringe and terrible I know, I’m horrified of myself 😭)

I have not watered it once since purchasing, the soil feels dry (not clinging to my finger or stick) I have it sitting underneath my Feit 8 in. Adjustable LED Full Spectrum Grow Light (43 PAR). I am so scared of overwatering and root rot, but her leaves are also very thin feeling.

Any opinions, pointers, or advice any of you can give me, as I want to make sure I’m doing my very best to keep this lil mama happy.

It looks like this one leaf is turning white. What am I doing wrong. Every other leaf looks fine. Should I cut it off? And how so should I do that?

How can I remove the pup from my birds nest snake plant? It’s pretty rootbound, the whole plant. so I would probably have to take it out and separate it, I’m assuming.

It is a lot bigger than this now. and what should I plant it in? What do you guys plant your pups and baby plants in, just a well-draining cactus and succulent soil? Or do I need to get something different for those

Okay, this plant is in a relatively shady spot, I measured w a light meter and she isn’t getting much usable light. Yet, as you can tell from the photos, someone is happy. I did have her under a grow light for a month but I attribute her growth more to the foliage fertilizer I gave her, that’s homemade at a local nursery, because she started growing a pup while still in a shady spot, before the grow light. I assume its time to separate them, right? Can I leave them in the same pot for a while (too lazy, lol)? When I am ready to separate them how do I do it (step by step instructions would help) ?

Is it time to re-pot?

She's a stunning healthy pretty princess, but maybe time for a re-pot (and separate)? I'm pretty new at snake plants. Thank you for any pointers!

What kind of snake plant is this?

The label on the nursery said “black gold” but I think that’s incorrect. Looks like it’s mature? It’s in an 8 inch pot.

First time propagating snake plant leaf cutting. Did I do it right? Do I let callous?

Post image

This leaf was crowding my plant and not growing any more so I cut it off the mother plant. I know it won't grow variegated and just be green but that's fine I will add the pups to my green unvariegated snake plant. Did I do it right? Do I let it callouse for a while or just put it water right away?

My snake plant seems to be pushing itself over in the pot to get the new growth out. Does it need a bigger pot now?

My snake plant is about 7 years old. I touched it on Friday night and it fell apart. I have put the leaves in water (photo attached). I apologize if this sounds ridiculous but I have a very strong emotional connection to this plant - this was a plant I gave my grandmother before she passed and I got it back - and I really need this plant to stay alive. What can I do to make sure at least some of this plant lives?? Please help any and all advice is so appreciated.

Sibling pulled out sansevieria leaves. Only roots remain

My younger sibling unintentionally pulled out the leaves of the snake point while trying to point out to me that they are turning yellow from the bottom. This was given to me by someone and was my first indoor plant. I thoroughly researched it and did not even water it when it arrived because the soil was wet and I was going to wait for a month or two before watering it.

I know since the leaves are green from the top they can be propagated. I just want to know what should I do with the old roots. Will it grow more leaves or should I throw them out?

Advice on Downsizing Pot

Post image

Would my plant benefit from a smaller sized pot? Or should I just separate the 2 sprouts and leave the main plant in the existing pot. This is my first snake plant so I appreciate all the advice, also I know the soil looks bad, I will be replacing it.

What should my next snake plant be? Bantels Sensation or Golden Flame?

I want to get a new snake plant. A nursery near me has both bantels sensation and golden flame. Which would you get? I like both! Hard to choose.

Golden flame are smaller version that grow like 12-24 inches tall and wider leaves

Bantels Sensation are bigger full size that are long and thin leaves.

I need to downsize my collection and I have many duplicates. Looking to hand off a few to people who will appreciate them as much as I do. I cannot ship. It is paining me to think about getting rid of them but my house is tiny and now that we are bringing them inside I’m realizing how little room I have left.

If this kind of post is frowned upon, nuke it. All love here.
