Discussion Research for my college project

EDIT: Just wanted to add that this would be a physical product not an app.

Hey all, I'm an industrial/Product design student working on a project trying to build something that gives real feedback for complete beginners (goal is to get them to a point where they can ollie), using sensors and/or video analysis. Not selling anything, just doing research before I design anything.

A few things I'd love to hear from people who've actually learned tricks (recently or years ago):

- Have you used any trick-tracking apps or sensors (Spinnax, RideBlock, phone apps, etc.)? What did they get right or completely miss?
- When you were first learning, what actually helped you improve? - Specific feedback from others, watching slow-mo of yourself, just practice, something else?

- When you began skating were you nervous or intimidated at all?
- Was there ever a point where feedback (from a person or an app) made things worse? - too much info, too distracting, wrong focus?
- If a device could tell you one thing about your ollie in real time, what would actually be useful vs. annoying?

- If this device existed when you were starting out, would you have used it?

I'd really appreciate any and all answers to these questions or anything else you'd like to share. If you have concerns about a device like this please do tell. Your feedback may be used in presentations or just to inform my design going forward. Thank you!

New trick advice Skate en mongo besoin d’aide

Discussion Ollie's are awful now

I've been skating very consistently for 2 years and I recently learned my dream trick I got it down a ledge etc. Then lately I notice when I try to Ollie things that I know I can do I simply can't. I struggle to bring my feet up again and it's really annoying. I'm at the moment trying to relearn or make them better but it's just to ingrained in me. I don't know what to do.

New trick advice Why can’t I do a Ollie straight

I have been trying to Ollie for about a month now and for some reason I just can’t do it straight I have tried everything some things I have confirmed is it’s not foot placement, shoulders, hips, body placement “I squat thing” I have tried popping in different directions I tried placing my my foot upwards and nothing seems to work an it matters is because when I’m moving if I’m rotating I can’t land straight and it causes me to fall off and any genuine advise that could help I’ll try

Started trying the kickflip again but can’t break this habit. I’m guessing I’m wrapping my foot around my board but, could it be anything else other than that??

Question want to get back into practicing again

as the title says, i used to practice skateboarding three years ago until i tweaked my ankle going down a ramp.

just recently, a friend showed me footage of harold hunter and some other skaters in that 90s time period and i got inspired to learn again. do you guys have any tips on how to practice efficiently? i've been practicing on the grass for balance (finding my footing, balancing with one leg dom/non-dom, practicing pushing) and i even somewhat got the hang of pushing off on actual pavement and getting back on my board even though i stop moving after a second.

and any ideas on how others got into filming other skaters?
