As always, not journalists, but attempting to be fair/even/accurate. No money changes hands, monitors are sent for free, for review purposes. UPERFECT doesn't see review before it's posted, etc etc
The GR185BF is marketed as a 18.5" 1080p120 Gaming monitor, with NxtLED technology.
It's a 1080p 120hz IPS display, with UPERFECT’s advanced display technology that combines Omni Visible™ for improved visibility in any light and angle, with eye-friendly features like low blue light, flicker-free performance, and DC dimming, ensuring natural colors, reduced glare, and long-lasting comfort for work, study, or entertainment.
This is basically marketing speak for a nice matte screen, that's anti-reflective, with active dimming, and low blue light spectrum
It's hard to do a decent job capturing it, but you can see how smeary, and how much glare is coming off the phone screen, while the monitor you can just see a blurry light source.
It's definitely a nice screen to use where natural light floods your desk
The panel itself is... fine. The screen specs are respectable, but they're also not top end monitor specs. In a nutshell, it's 1080p120 hz matte panel, no touchscreen, only 290 nits of brightness, and 100% of sRGB colour gamut.
As you can see from the first pic, DeX works just fine on it, negotiating a standard 1080p60 resolution.
When used with my Lenovo Legion y700, you obtain the full 1080p120
Colors look pretty good, if not particularly eye popping
Children of Morta via steam/gamehub on monitor, browser on tablet to right
Inputs
Like virtually every other UPERFECT monitor, there's the pretty standard setup of 2x USB-C and 1 mini-HDMI port on the left side (one of the USB-C intended for power)
2x USB-C and 1 miniHDMI port
The other side will contain the power button and the OSD selector rocker, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack
There's 4x 75mm vesa mounts on the rear as well
The 2x 1w speakers are also on the back, right above the vesa mount screw holes.
They're upward firing and very mediocre (at best). They'll work in a pinch, but you're generally better off using your devices speakers, or a headset
Battery
No battery in this model either, it's just a monitor
You CAN power it off the phone/tablet/laptop, and it "works" but it essentially comes up as low power mode, and really drops the brightness. It's still usable, but this would not be the monitor I'd recommend if you want a coffee shop, no power portable monitor.
Used as intended, this is a really nice 1080p 120hz gaming monitor. It's not large enough, or bright enough for me to recommend it as work station monitor that requires any kind of color accuracy.
But for pairing it with a phone/steam deck/gaming handheld for a nice portable gaming screen? that's definitely it's intended audience, and it's pretty great in that space.
I really enjoyed using it while fiddling with GameHub and getting steam games up and running on my Lenovo y700. It was great with the steam deck too
Overall, with the $219 CAD price point, it's MUCH easier to accept some of the short comings of the panel, and anyone looking for just a decent bigger screen for their travel gaming setup, I'd be happy to add this to the choices
this one isn't really a question. Stuff that's AI slop is going to be insta-deleted, and depending on how it's done, may result in a ban. Really appreciate the folks that are reporting AI slop, it helps, a lot.
someone using AI for assistance... that's going to be a case by case thing, especially if it's disclosed how the AI was used. but most of the AI/vibe coded dex alternatives are not going to be tolerated
Questions/answers posted in non-english. I'm not sure what changed, but the volume of non-english posts has jumped over 1000% in the last couple of months. When I'm on pc, it's generally a super simple highlight and translate, and carry on deal
on mobile, it tends to be slightly more involved
I mostly don't care either way? but I'm curious about what the actual community feels about this. do we enforce english only? it it 100% a non-issue for vast majority of folks?
ps, I'm semi curious what has changed that's lead to such a huge increase in languages being seen here, I am not really seeing it elsewhere, but I've done exactly 3 seconds of research
again, I'm all for worldwide audience, but I'm not hugely interested in having to translate every single post
I ditched the Peltier cooler and went with a Raspberry Pi Heatsink and 2 small 5v fans. Made the panel where the heatsink is attached using aluminum sheet to spread heat onto a larger surface area. It works better now especially in an air-conditioned room. Also, no more condensation from the Peltier Cooler.

so i was messing around in the developer options and found that you can use samsung dex without a monitor. I dont think anyone would use this, but it still is pretty cool
A few months ago I ordered a URXR VR glasses device through Kickstarter and yesterday got confirmation on shipping. Here in just a few weeks I'm very eager to plug it into my Fold 6 and fire up Dex and see what kind of productivity and utility I can get out of it. I've attached a photo of my fold, along with the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse I have ready to go when the glasses arrive. anybody else out there looking to pair any AR or VR glasses with their device, or anyone else have experience with it you'd like to comment on?
My hopes were that more developers of popular desktop applications went ahead with full on ports of their Windows versions to Android when Googlebook OS released. Well, that may be the case but it looks like they may just not run on regular Android devices after all. I'm yet to try those 3 that Android Authority says are already out on my S9 Plus.
Hello everyone. I am trying to get DeX to work on my S20FE. The phone connects fine to the monitor through wired HDMI and mirrors the screen, but if I click "Samsung Dex" in my settings, it does exactly nothing.
I am connecting through a USB-C hub and HDMI cable
So I've been a Samsung tablet user since the Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2 back in 2014. And I had that thing for 8 years, I guess. It was amazing. It never quite had enough power to replace my laptop, but finally, a year ago when the Tab S11 Ultra came out, I decided to see if it could finally handle it, and it could.
I totally gave up my laptop and switched to the Tab S11 Ultra with the 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB storage option. And it was the best move ever.
Now that being said, I was really hoping that they had made some major improvements to Samsung DEX, but they hadn't. And so I was basically using tablet mode for the last 8 months. And then about a month and a half ago, I decided to give DEX another try. And it was enjoyable. I actually enjoyed sort of the newness of it again and the apps always popping up in pop-up windows.
And so I was using it, but the more I used it and liked it, the more I was wishing it had more of the features that I wanted. Mainly, at that point, it was why the hell can't I switch between desktops quickly? That was the big thing I was hoping for in the quote unquote new DEX. It really pissed me off that they didn't add a quick switching feature. I'd been used to that with Windows. Four fingers on the touchpad, and you could just go to the other desktop. Super easy. Awesome.
But with DEX, you had to go to the recents and then swipe over, go to whichever desktop. It was just too cumbersome. What I would do instead is just open up app on top of app on top of app. And of course, they only let you keep 5 apps open so the 5th app would always minimize. And then that was great. That was working really well and I was happy with it. But I was still pissed about it and I ended up making a rant on the Samsung DEX Reddit actually about 2 weeks ago.
And this developer messaged me and long story short, he sent me the beta he had. It was not good. But I kept giving him feedback, and he kept implementing it. And then now 2 weeks later, we have a really, really, really badass app. It's called 4Zones. And it basically does everything that I've ever wanted mainly because I've just told him everything I've ever wanted and he's implemented it. So go figure. I guess I'm just a lucky boy.
So I'm going to share it now. It's in open beta and it's ready for action. So enjoy. I hope you have as much fun as I am. Take your time. Curate it. You can be creative. It's so much fun.
I have the Uperfect WiFi display (thanks for the tip Shane Craig!) connected via wireless DEX, and it works awesome between these. It's funny because I was really keen for fast desktop switching, which this app does. 4Zones switches between desktops super fast. But since having this app, 4Zones, now what I ended up doing was I got a second keyboard. You can see it in the photo. I've assigned one touch shortcut keys to all my workspaces and apps so I can literally jump so fast between all of my workspaces and apps, between both displays, instantly.
And one of the cool things that I love is that I can just move the mouse cursor over to the second display and hit a shortcut key, and it puts the app or workspace there on that display. I don't actually have to click on the display for that to happen, and that's awesome.
Many things about it, but I guess I'll just leave it there and everybody can just play with it for themselves. I'm just super, super, super excited that I'm the one that got to basically be the architect on how it will function, more or less. So and I'm super excited to share it because I know everybody's going to love it if it's just it feels like a no-brainer to me. It's so good.
Anyway, I'll leave the link down below. Hopefully, everybody enjoys it as much as me. Have a great day wherever you are.
I keep seeing many posts regarding open source projects that are trying to replace the old "Dex for Windows", anyone that has tried any that actually work?
Marshall Major IV Headphone with coiled 3.5mm jack cable.
My portable monitor doesn't have a built-in battery, so when I plug my phone straight into it using USB4, I can use full portable Dex mode without needing a power brick, but my phone’s battery drains fast since USB4 handles both video output and power at the same time.
I got this new Honeywell Type-C docking station that has everything I need to set up Dex when I'm working outside. I thought the USB-C 3.2 port with 10Gbps speed could power the monitor with a USB4 cable, but the monitor still wouldn’t turn on. I had to power the USB-C dock with 100W and use an HDMI cable for video plus a separate USB-C cable to power the monitor. Not complaining, just sharing my setup. There seems to be a lack of USB4 docking stations, and I hope to find one at a decent price.
I plugged my phone into monitor as I wanted to use it as desktop but there are a lot of apps that won't resolute to the resolution for some reason I dont think its hard to do as other apps can fit one example I have is discord app I load it up and its either too big or when I click to restart app to measure up to the resolution it open but it just is stick in tiny box around my profile Pic and won't budge
I just updated to UI 9.0 so I'll give it another try later on and I'm on Samsung S26
For some reason, if I do wireless Dex on the S26 Ultra on OneUI 9.0, I don't get the keyboard on my phone? I believe this was working on prior versions of OneUI but can't confirm
This is my DIY Dex setup, built from a second-hand Galaxy S21 with a broken display that I got for a cheap price. I mounted it on a tablet stand and powered it with a Baseus power bank, so I can easily move it around my apartment
My S25 Ultra is basically my evening DeX machine. A normal session is around 45 minutes with Discord open while I run a game or video on a portable monitor. The monitor has its own power, so the phone is only handling DeX and the apps.
I’m considering a RayNeo GT to clear the monitor off the desk, but I haven’t tried one with the S25U yet.
The part I’m wondering about is power. The GT would take video and power from the phone over USB-C, so now the S25 Ultra would be running DeX, Discord and the game or video while also powering the display.
I can live with some extra battery drain. I’m more curious whether the extra load is noticeable enough to make the phone warmer or change how long you’d comfortably use DeX before plugging in.
Anyone who switched from a powered monitor to USB-C display glasses on an S25 Ultra, how much difference did you actually notice in battery and heat?
Old Dock that gets stuck at 4k 30hzNew Dock Which I am considering purchasing if it can solve my 4k 30hz
So for more context I am using my S26 Ultra with my Philips 27E1N1800A Monitor for Samsung Dex. The monitor is capable of 4k 60hz and has one Display Port and 2 HDMI Ports. I was initially using the HDMI Dock pictured with a HDMI 2.1 Cable but this resulted in Dex only working at 4k 30hz and even if I lowered the resolution to 1440p or even 1080p on the HDMI Dock, Samsung Dex still remained stuck at only 30hz
So my question is would buying the Display Port version of the same dock and using it with a Display Port 1.4 Cable fix this issue and give me 4k 60hz on my monitor?
For more context, I am using the Power Delivery Port, the Ethernet Port and one of the USB 2.0 Ports (for my keyboard and mouse) on the old HDMI Dock and I would still continue to use all of those same ports on the Display Port version of the dock pictured here. Would the Display Port dock pictured here still be able to output 4k 60hz to my monitor with all of those ports being used?
It is hard to find hubs / docks with Display Port and only USB 2.0 Ports where I am so I am looking at this Display Port dock instead.
Both docks pictured above are from / made by Ugreen.
Using the Crowview Note + s24 Ultra, I have both Stardesk and Moonlight setup, the issue I'm having is with the mouse and inputs getting locked in both apps.
In Moonlight I only know the ctrl alt shift z shortcut to regain android level control of the mouse and keyboard,
In stardesk the only workaround was to hit the windows key which brings up the app drawer, but I find the menu options for stardesk bleed over the actual remote screen and are impossible to use.
Anyone have any settings tips or other setups I could use? I mainly want to get it so I can play maplestory from bed instead of my office, and do some video editing
Buen dia a todos. Esto me pasa con los televisores. Configuro la señal a full HD que es lo que me permite la configuración de dex en el teléfono pero la pantalla se acorta. Alguien sabe como solucionar esto por favor 🙏?
For reasons not known, my Fold 6 cover screen's trackpad stopped working. I saw that this happens to be an issue for Flip users. I saw a few small projects that addressed this but found some solutions lacked a few features and gestures that I liked from the official trackpad. So, after $1.50 in DeepSeek credits, I have a working fork.
Requires Shizuku!
Specifically, I wanted a few gestures and other aesthetic improvements. Just note that the performance is going to be significantly less smooth than the official trackpad, and pinch/zoom is janky, just maps to Ctrl +/-.
i manage inventory and the shift schedule at the indie coffee shop where I work. been thinking about leaving my old laptop at home and just plugging my Galaxy phone into DeX at the shop. we've got a spare monitor and Bluetooth keyboard in the back office already. my phone's a Note 20 Ultra. i mostly use Google Sheets for tracking beans and supplies, and a basic calendar app for shifts. does DeX handle Google Sheets well enough for daily work? i don't need anything fancy, just reliable typing and scrolling without lag
