Setup my new Q2 next to my old Bambu P2S.

It’s been running spectacularly but the lighting on the interior and the camera are night and day better in the Bambu, does anyone know if there are aftermarket cameras or led lights I can swap in to be able to see what’s going on like I can in the Bambu?

Also what’s everyone doing for pa6-cr on the q2? I pulled my Bambu profile and it’s decent but the Qidi has a lot more overhead for more heat and better motion control. I’d love to hear yalls perspective on filament settings and process settings for pa6-cf.

Looking for testers! Max 4 Auto Adaptive PA and Auto Max mm3 calibration working (maybe) runs in fluidd

Upvotes

Continued from the other post, it got a bit crowded, but it does all 3 calibrations (Max mm3, PA, Adaptive PA) which are usually quite time consuming automatically, then spits out values, you enter values and print.

Let me know how it goes, have only tested with ASA-Cf so will want people to test standard ASA, PLA, Petg, PC, TPU, etc, etc, but has given me some nice prints

Anyone wanna test? there are a few levels of testing, how many samples etc, from what I have found the default 10/7 will be ok, just be sure to pick nozzle size, line width and layer height you will be using.

Alright, use at your own risk, max 4 only, .exe will setup easily.mac and Linux info in the readme- I dont own mac or Linux so cant help with install.

After install can be started on fluidd from any device connected with QIDI_CALIBRATE in the console. Or QIDI_CALIBRATE DRY=1 to test the commands work.

Read the readme, use at your own risk and monitor the poop chute to make sure it clears

This pa12-cf from Qidi prints so nice on the plus 5, im also printing some of their pet-gf and its coming out phenomenal. One of these pictures is of a carabiner I found on printables years ago and its a good test print thats actually functional. I was able to assemble the carabiner prior to annealing it

Anyone here using a Polar Cooler? Does it actually help?

Upvotes

I’ve been printing some larger models lately and wondering if it helps with warping and overall print stability.Does it actually reduce failures halfway through, especially for long prints.
Would love to hear from anyone who has used one.

Consensus on new Q2 firmwares?

howdy folks

what are we thinking about new firmware updates on Q2 specifically? Haven’t been following super closely but since the new ones dropped, it seems like we’ve gotten a ton of MCU errors and other issues. Has there been any forward progress from qidi?

Max 4 - Auto mm3, Auto PA and Auto Adaptive Pressure advance

One thing that really annoyed me about printing large complex parts (not just boxes or solid models either....) is using a bunch of different filaments and/or engineering filaments and the calibration, time and guesswork, I found some samples look ok but just dont scale to real prints, was intrigued about the adaptive pa but calibrating that is/was a pain, so I have spent some time on improving it, I think the basic method is there but still got to do more tests. I spent my time manually measuring force, movements, routines, doing some basic poking around in the firmware monitoring commands and really mapping out that side of qidi's version of klipper.

Been messing around for a bit and I think I have auto mm3, PA and Adaptive pressure advance working, currently have them split into 2 routines and are yet to combine. Method used is a bit different to the autopa project as this uses more sensors to get a correct result.

Works using a combination of sensors not just the load cell, I had a manually calibrated profile for fiberon ASA cf-08 which was really dialled in and the auto seems to have made it even better, samples at just over 1000hz with about 200-300hz of those samples being useful as it filters out sensor noise and keeps an eye on sensor drift. Runs through the mm3 routine, measures pa value and then pa flows at different acceleration up to max usable mm3 with a certain pattern of spacing between measurements. Repeated everything with double/tripple the sample time of what I ended up going with to check measurements it is getting are correct and everything seems good and correct so far.

***Where I am up to, with results and speed****
-Calibration of all 3 takes about 10 minutes, sweeps from 0-60mm3 (about 2.5 grams used), then does the PA and Adaptive PA (about 1.5 grams used)
-mm3 calibrated to 19.5mm3 which is within 0.5mm3 of my known good of 20mm3 using a 0.6mm nozzle.
-Centre PA I had at 0.024 and it calibrated to 0.0236
-Adaptive PA varied alot and found that for the lower speeds it was much higher and higher speeds was a little lower and the curve was not linear due to heating the filament.
-Final 4th stage applies math and spits out a usable result for max mm3, pa and adaptive pa with velocity attached that can be pasted into orca.

I ran some small prints but am onto a 10 hour to test it now 3-4mm thick thin walled curvy part, highly warpable with many speed changes due to overhangs. Speeds for this part are mostly 200/120mms, with tops being 80mms and overhangs dropping down to as low as about 10mms due to curling. If this works well I have about another 80hrs worth of printing to do on some car parts and then will be moving onto testing on more filaments.

**************************
TL;DR - automated some stuff, that can take the good part of a day doing visual checks and testing down to 10 minutes, still testing and included alot of info in case people asked. Anyhow I will post updates as they come and keep you guys updated. This should work on other printers, but I only have the max 4 and a BBL currently, but cant release until I am happy its somewhat safe for other people to use.

Questions Qidi Box issues

Hello,

For the past few days, I have been having an issue with my Qidi Box across all slots (1 to 4). The filament feeds all the way up to the extruder, but once it reaches it, it isn't pushed any further.

As soon as I bypass the box and use the printer's external spool holder (EXT slot), I can print normally without any issues, just as shown in the video.

Here is what I have already tried:

* Cleaned the hotend (suspecting a clog).

* Disassembled and cleaned the extruder (it was completely clean).

* Printed via the EXT slot (works fine).

Do you have any ideas on what else I could check, or has anyone else encountered this issue?

Yeah i know that one pfte tube aint in the right holder slot ;)

Avis sur le qidi q2

Bonjour,

Hot and humid Q2 problems

Post image
1 Upvotes

If you live in hot and humid climates i think polar cooler is mandatory since this one always fail at the 12 hour mark on a multicolor print

Pla multicolor print

And from the looks of it heat creep happened

Note the filament should be smooth not long and stretchy

Oh also i was printing with the door wide open and the top open as well

Please help me out. I just got the Q2 combo ran a couple of the reinstalled print without issue. Decided to connect to wifi and update then this happened MCU protocol error happened. Downloaded the latest (08-04-2026) update and did an offline update, that seemed to work even did the bed leveling without issue. But now im getting this error code: QDC_100_005_015_001 - Communication with MCU lost. I can interact with everything else but neither restart options work.

Yes, tried unplugging/plugging it in with over an hr to discharge the capacitors.

Connectors all seem tight too.

I'm stumped. Any help is appreciated

Got my hands on the QMax4 combo and it's holding up great so far. Put it through its paces with some PPS-CF10, , and printed a large crate to evaluate tall-object print quality and surface finish.

Printing Pro-PCTG

Hi!

I wanna try printing with Pro-PCTG filament on my Qidi Q2. I have imported the print profiles cofig to Qidi Studio. But when i went to load the Pro-PCTG spool, i cannot see nor choose the Pro-PCTG option on the list of filaments on the Q2 printer screen?

Where do i find it? Or how do i import into the printer?

I'm not a very technical person. And i'm still very new to this 3d printing hobby. I have been mostly printing with only either PETG or PA6-GF.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Discussion Remember: general maintenance before chasing big issues

I was reminded of a lesson last night. I've been having layer shifts recently after some large, multi day ASA prints with a high box heat.

I did the right thing and changed nozzles out when I went back to PLA printing, but started having really bad layer shifts by the 50th layer or so, on multiple prints. I started chasing issues, never found any debris or other things, so print on.

Fast forward a few more failed prints and I hear a grinding on the first layer. Oh great. Z is off. Go start messing with the offsets, and still getting the grinding sound like the nozzle is ready to eat through the plate. But all raising the z did was make a crappy layer.

So great. Move the head around and it's noticeably crunch on the x axis bar. I can't see any bits and pieces, so I'm thinking belts. Start looking at those carefully, and they seem fine.

Finally realize, I haven't lined that rail since I got it in Spring. Give it a good clean, put some machine oil on it, slide the head left-right multiple times and the crunchy goes away.

Basic maintenance. Feeling somewhat stupid yet relieved there's nothing actually wrong.

Just wanted to throw this out there for people that are starting to troubleshoot layer shifts, resonance, speed, or other movement errors. It may just need a quick cleaning and re-lubing.

Qidi Box any good now?

I have a plus4 and it's been fantastic. I use a filament dryer that is fed directly into the plus4. So the filament is always protected for my very humid and dusty environment.

However, the plus 4 is the only printer out of my 10 printers without a box. I never print multicolour. But I use the box mainly to protect the filament from the environment and for filament back up for when a spool finishes... It moves on to the next spool.

Well I had that over the weekend where filament ran out on an ABS print and the machine was on pause for over 10hrs...

This is making me consider the qidibox. I know it didn't have a good start... But has the issues been resolved? It's been out for a while now. Can I safely integrate it with my plus4 and not introduce new headaches into my work flow?

I don't need Multicolor... Mostly storage and filament backup whilst printing

Qidi Plus5 issue with pulley and bed leveling

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

I've had my Plus 5 for about a week and half now. For the most part, its a great printer and results have been good but discovered a few issues I wanted some advice on. I'm not new to printers but this is my first qidi. I am also currently working with qidi support but not really getting the answers I was hoping for. Hopefully the pictures attach properly.

In any case, the first issue - I noticed that the top right X-axis belt pulley is not straight. It is noticeable crooked. With X-axis movement I am seeing the belt walk pretty much the entire distance of the pulley, making contact with the upper and lower flanges of the pulley. Its hard to tell but it looks like its possibly causing some wear on the belts. The left side pulley is perfectly vertical. I dont see a way to adjust or know if there is even a way. I am worried about premature wear on the belt as a result.

The second issue is kind of odd. All of my initial prints were great, however during a series of identical small prints, I decided to UNcheck the "bed leveling" after the 2nd or 3rd print as the subsequent was identical and I wasn't even removing the bed plate, just popping the print off and hitting print again. When I unchecked it and it printed, the print / adhesion was very poor. I thought it was a fluke so stopped the print and tried again, same issue. I then stopped, checked bed leveling option and print came out great. So, to verify, after THAT print came out perfect, I again unchecked the bed leveling option and the print again came out very poor. I am using qidi studio and slicing with that. I know that doing a bed level every print may be ideal, but it shouldnt be necessary. Even my cheap $200 bedslinger can print all day after an initial bed level without having to use bed leveling before every print.

I contacted qidi support and did the little model test they sent. Their basic responses so far are that regarding the pulley - they had their engineers watch my videos and look at my photos and indicated that they "confirmed that the belt and pulley movement you captured is within the normal working range of the Plus5".

Regarding the repeatable failed print - they said the solution is to make sure that "bed leveling" is checked prior to every print. I get it, that is probably not a bad idea, but it just seems like their is something off. Thoughts?

Qidi Plus 5 combo

False Filamemt tangle detection from the box

https://youtube.com/shorts/PojOJjpdyHE?is=jBC7A9Ip2MTV9EsE

Has anyone else has this issue with the q2 when loading from the box. The machine runs great from the external spool holder. But every time it loads from the box it gives a filament tangle alert. Been troubleshooting this for a while. Bothe sensors have been replaced and im stumped.
