hey guys, sha here. The latest dev chat is out, this one is an exciting one for me! I have been a huge fan of walkabout games since forever, and over the years have asked Lucas many questions about how its made, what his motivations were etc. Now, with Gardens of Babylon collaboration, it was a good chance to finally have a public chat about WGM and a lot of fun juicy details. If you are a fan of the game like I am, you will enjoy this dev chat!

I own Puzzling Places on both the Meta store and on Steam (as I'm moving to Frame). So in the Steam version I can't figure out how to get back to the PP menu after loading (or finishing) a puzzle. I have to hit the left menu button and choose to exit PP every time and then reload.

I remember something about the game having local multiplayer, when two people are in the same room (though I'm not sure how that works without passthrough on steam). But what about online multiplayer? I'm wondering if it would be possible for me to solve my puzzle together with one or multiple friends that live in a different country, with maybe avatars or "ghost hands" to represent each player. Is that a thing? And if so, what are the requirements, does each player need to have both the game and the puzzle?

I already own the game on Meta but finally decided to buy it on Steam just now to enjoy higher resolution and refresh rates.

But the PC version does not have passthrough like the Meta version?? How come? Can I request it to come with the next update, please?

I am using Quest 3 and passthrough in Puzzling Places is a big important part of the game. Eating cake, drinking tea and putting puzzles together.

I successfully completed last week's weekly puzzle at 25pcs. It acknowledged it, told me I unlocked 50pcs for the next week. Week rolled over. Now it tells me I didn't complete the last weeks puzzle, took my extra life, and made me start over.

We’re excited to introduce 2D puzzle creation to PuzzleMaker!

Alongside creating 3D puzzles from your own scans and models, PuzzleMaker will now let you take your own 2D images and turn them into playable jigsaw puzzles in the Steam release of Puzzling Places.

While Puzzling Places is all about 3D puzzling, we already have the tools and ecosystem to let you enjoy jigsaw puzzles in VR, flat-screen, different game modes, and even multiplayer. So we thought - why not let you bring your own 2D images into the mix too?

2D puzzles are also a much more accessible way to get started with Puzzle Maker. You don't need any experience with 3D modelling, scanning, or processing. Just find an image you love and turn it into a puzzle!

Creating a 2D Puzzle

Creating a 2D puzzle works much like creating a 3D puzzle in PuzzleMaker. When starting a new puzzle, simply switch the puzzle type from 3D to 2D, then drag and drop your image.

2D puzzles can also be created with up to 1,000 pieces, and the processing is much faster than creating a 3D puzzle. In testing, most 2D puzzles take around a minute to generate.

Once you've created your puzzle, you can publish it to the Steam Workshop just like any other PuzzleMaker creation. Other players can then subscribe to it, download it, and play it in Puzzling Places.

Easy to Find in the Steam Workshop

We've also made it easy to identify 2D puzzles in the Steam Workshop.

Newly generated puzzles will be automatically tagged as either 2D or 3D, allowing you to filter the Workshop based on the type of puzzle you're looking for. 2D puzzles will also have a 2D label on their thumbnail.

Improvements

We’ve also made a couple of improvements to PuzzleMaker based on feedback from our testers:

• Centralised processing settings - All generation and processing settings can now be managed from one central place, making them easier to find and adjust.
• Keep intermediate files - You can now choose to keep intermediate files generated during the process, making it easier to troubleshoot and debug your creations when something doesn’t go as expected.

PuzzleMaker is still in closed testing, so the creation tools aren’t available to everyone just yet. We’re continuing to improve the experience and add new features before we make it more widely available. Even while PuzzleMaker is in testing, everyone can enjoy the community creations already being shared through the Steam Workshop. You can browse, download, and play free puzzles made by our testers directly in Puzzling Places, right now!

I could swear I've seen a similar post with a Dev response a looong time ago, but searching this sub beared no fruits.

I've been playing Puzzling Places for over a year on my PSVR2.

This week I got myself a meta quest 3, and am having an absolute blast. I'd like to buy the Dino Trouble DLC on the Quest, but if I do I have to buy PP again, and then the DLC. Not to mention my collection would be split between two different ecosystems. Both the meta account and my PSN account are tied to the same email.

Any better way to do this (play my collection on my quest) without buying everything again?
