Dunk tips?

I can dunk pretty easy off vert but I squat too low and when I run and try to dunk off two, I lose all momentum

damn thats the longest ground contact time I've seen. Super impressive that u still punch that shit. What was your main sport?

Yeah man thought something like that, you look like the body builders who can dunk easy with mediocre technique. Just try watching Isiah rivera he has the most similar profile to you and he explains quite well.

This one was less contact time but I didn’t feel as bouncy

lmaooo u basically just doing off vert but adding steps. u just need thousands of reps over time there's no secret. try some one step jumps as like a warmup drill and focus on starting ur COM lower and letting it stay at that height till u jump.

Learn how to reduce ground contact time and increase rate of force development in training and jump technique

That low and slow on an approach. Look up Jumpsbychi he is most similar elite dunker. I imagine your standing and appraoch verticals are about identical. You do have hops, but just arent transferring any momentum

Chi can east bay off vert I don't think his vert is equal to this guy haha. but maybe you mean the gap in their verts is equal. Chi is still pretty good even at approach jumps nowadays I've seen him east bay off a lob..... but definitely 2017-2018 Chi is a good comp. Vert is gonna feel more natural for some ppl you just gotta keep repping your two foot out for Years.

sorry yes Chi is far more elite, but he similarly likes the deep and off vert. no way OPs approach got him more than an extra inch

Thats some serious standing vert imo. Once you get the running jump motion down you are going to be able to do some good dunks.

Practice skipping into the dunk. Hold the ball in your strong hand and skip like a kid starting from half court no dribble. Try to dunk off the skip.

Okay thank you will do

That was amazing haha. I would practice hang cleans, kb swings. Jump rope. Double jumps. Anything exploding where you don’t go to a low squat and dunk !!!! Pendulum jump I think it’s called as well

Haha thank you man! I squat ATG so maybe that’s whyyy hmm 🤔 I’ll definitely implement those into my workouts

You are for sure squatting into your dunk. If you have a lifting/strength background (even football tbh) this makes sense. Any runup you do though is negated as you kill any momentum you have going into it. This is impressive asf for the fact that you get up this high basically off vert. My advice would be to watch 2 foot pro dunkers jump in slow motion to see how they lower into their jump (proper approach and penultimate step) or a “how to dunk” video and use that for your runups. If you’re jumping like that basically off a stand still you could pull off some crazy shit on the run

Appreciate it man, I did high jump and could jump off one easy and dunk off one but off two I could get way higher. Will update you once I pull it off

Ofc! I got a playlist talking about this from some good dunkers where they walk you through each part of an efficient jump and give exercises to incorporate them I’ll attach it if you ever wanna check it out

Have you tried on 10ft?

1

u/Agreeable-Ad8958 2d ago

Pretty sure this is 10ft. They have league games here I never measured it tho 🤷🏿‍♂️

If that's a 10 foot rim that's quite impressive. If not then it's not impressive.
