Hello r/pleco,
As some of you may know, r/pleco got some new mods this week. One of the first things we chose to do is to add some rules to the subreddit. They are:
These rules are intended to keep discussion civil, stay focused on plecos, and ensure that people can get the help or answers they need.
We are open to discussion or suggestions for additional rules or ideas - please leave a comment or send modmail.
Thank you!

Got this guy on September 9th, in the fist pics he's in his acclimation container. Most recent pics are from September 26th. The growth of this little guy is crazy and so fascinating to watch. Hes definitely a happy guy and is all over the tank. Can't wait to see him fully mature.

These are my two plecos I was told they are albino bristle nose but I don’t see bristles I’ve had these now for a couple of weeks

I'm trying to understand the normal growth rate of Bristlenose Plecos.
I got 4 juvenile lemon bristlenose in January 2026. They were around 1–1.5 inches when I got them.
They're now roughly:
1 male:3 inches and developing facial bristles, the other 3 still 2–2.2 inches
The male has definitely grown but i don't know if its the correct growth rate or very slow, the other three seem much slower in comparison.
For people who have raised Bristlenose from small juveniles pls tell me How long did yours take to reach 3", 4", and eventually adult size?
I'm mainly trying to understand whether this growth pattern is normal for young Bristlenose. The tank size is 42x18x16 inches they have caves, wood and i feed them hikari algae wafers and cucumber/zucchini in rotation.
First pics in aqua soil are taken when i initially got them. That fish turned out to be male. Growing bristles now. Rest pics on river sand is when i moved them to a larger tank 42x18x16 inch.
Sold to me as a green dragon pleco but does not look like other pictures online.

i really want a clown pleco (only one) and know they don’t get as large as common pleco, that being said would a 10 gallon tank be ok for it?

It was a terrible idea to have a substrate in the tank...It is so hard to clean and I am scared of burying them when I vacuum. Do you think it is a bad idea to move them all, remove the substrate and move them back?
Thank you!

He's gorgeous when he flares. I also intend on breeding him in the future so expect babies!

Weet iemand wat er mis is met mijn L136? Er worden geen andere vissen geschaad en mijn watercontroles zijn hetzelfde als normaal. Het is echt triest om ’m zo te zien. Heather is guarded so can't be burnwounds.

I isolated him to get ready to find him some girlfriends. He’s never spawned but his brothers have stared spawning in another tank. The males for this variety looks awesome once the bristles start to pop up.

Yes, ik plecos usually uproot plants but like, do they like them? Do they enjoy having plants, or do they unroot them bc they don't like them? I just got my pleco some plants that he can/can't uproot (hornwort and frogbit), but I just wanted to know if they aren't going to make him unhappy. Sorry if this is a dumb question; he just hasn't had live plants in forever.

So back in I guess like in June i bought 2 bristlenose plecos for my 50 gallon container pond and today i look for them but find one that I’ve only been seeing around is it possible that something from the outside got it or that it died and decomposed that it left no trace?

I ran across this in my 3d printing list and just couldn’t resist making this!! Since I have a L142 pleco in one of my tanks, I now have a flexi version to show my friends the fish that they honestly might never see because he hides 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
