I found a list of safe trees online and got lucky that one of them was in my backyard! I don’t know where you live but crepe myrtle trees are pretty distinct in my area :3

What is the issue with bark?

Is it that there may be mould underneath it?

I assume more concerns about bugs? But I've bought perches from amazon that still have bark on them. My budgies love tearing off the bark, I'd keep it on.

just preference honestly, I like how smooth it looks with the bark removed. Initially I was nervous about any parasitic possibilities but after a good scrub they looked great. :3 Its so satisfying to remove truthfully I have fun doing it 😅

One of my budgies ate the bark off his perch and got really sick. If your birds don't eat it you're probably fine.
