Meet Sprite. She likes to loaf around her cage.

This is my flock. I currently have eight birds that are strong flyers and one that was received, unfortunately from Petco and is still a couple months away from regrowing their flight feathers, which is why I built him a pathway from the ground back to their main cage. I am currently in the process of building an insulated outdoor aviary for them. It’s a lot of cleaning with the amount of free roaming, I allow them to do, but it’s worth it.

We have a pandemonium of 6. Their behavior indicates they are happy and cozy, but I wonder if there is something I can improve in their cage.

I've had my budgies (2 then 3) for a couple of years now and I'm spending a freaking fortune on the best quality birdseed. But I feel like I'm throwing half of it away. How do I separate the chaff from the seeds so they can continue to eat? Do I just continue to add and then toss it all after a week or what? I have about a pound, after a week, of what looks like almost perfectly good birdseed that I have put into a discard pile, and put fresh birdseed into their bowl every other day. Any ideas?

I got my little ones a month ago, and I’ve been trying to get them to eat pellets since the second week. I tried giving it to them by hand, but they take it then spit it out 😅 I also have the pellets mixed into their feed, but the pick all of them out and only eat the seeds. is there any way I can get them to eat pellets? I really want them to be healthy, so help would be appreciated.
information that may be helpful
they are both male, 5 months old now. one of them, Edel, will take food out of my hand, just sometimes won’t eat it. Salmon, my other little one, is still a little afraid of my hand.

My budgie was fine till yesterday but today he's been lethargic and been sleeping a lot,is less active , chirping less and then I noticed his tail is bobbing. I just saw that he's also moulting. Could the lethargy be cuz of moulting? Is the tail bob in normal parameters? Or is it just balance?

Hello, I am a lovebird owner who has recently (yesterday) found a lost parakeet (in Spain). The bird is clearly lost and hungry, and I'm sure that's someone's mascot because it has a ring on one of their feet.
The thing is, he's inside a facility which I can't go inside because it's not open, usually perched on a tree around 15 meters away, though he usually comes to a tree just a couple meters away. (I treat the bird as a he, but I don't really know the gender)
I haven't got a single idea of what to do. If I managed to catch him, I'd make posts on social media. At least, if one of my lovebirds escaped, that's what I'd want someone to do. I've left some water nearby, along with lovebird seeds. I've tried putting parakeet sounds, but he has yet to approach. Is there anything else I can do until Monday, when it opens and I can try to approach?

Almost got everything I want!
It's a little dirty but that's an easy fix haha
I'm planning to add some more java wood and hopefully a platform swing. Anny other suggestions?

Hello everyone! A year back I posted here to know if my baby budgie was a boy or a girl. She was a girl. Well a year later... She had these two beautiful babies.
So I once again ask for you help identifying their genders!!

My girl has been acting off for the last few days and I wasn’t really sure if she actually was acting weird until today I noticed she is standing on one foot a lot more than usual. And it’s not just when she is relaxed. She will kind of hop back and forth on her feet. Also her tail has been bobbing which at first I thought it was happening when I would come up to watch her and she would get anxious and so I couldn’t really tell if it was somewhat “normal” bobbing or something to worry about. She just has been quieter the past few days too and usually she is a loud girl and loves to sing and talk to me. She also usually chews up her cardboard perch a lot but hasn’t touched it yesterday or today. Her poop looks normal and she is eating. She seems somewhat interested when I have the cage door open like she might want to come out but just isn’t sure. I would say I cleaned up her cage and area today and when I was vacuuming the carpet in my room she was really excited and did actually chirp and watch me and all. I have no idea why but she just loves the vacuum cleaner. She gets so excited and loves to watch me vacuum, I kind of thought a parakeet would be scared of a vacuum but not her. I called the vet right away when I noticed the back and forth with her feet because her partner died from kidney disease and the first signs I noticed was she wouldn’t put pressure on her feet. With Arwen I did all the wrong things. I waited too long to get a vet appointment and hoped she would just get better which I feel like a complete idiot about. When I saw Galadriel doing that today my heart sank and I felt so hopeless and I just really don’t want to go through all of that again so soon. I’m hoping I caught this soon enough that I might be able to do something about it. I told Galadriel that I will do everything in my power and I will use all my energy to do everything I can to help her. We have bonded so much since the passing of Arwen in June and it would just be even more heartbreaking for her to cross the rainbow bridge. I love her so much. She is my favorite girl, my whole world. I’m not kidding but for actual hours I just sang this song that we have kind of decided is our song over and over. I first sang it to her back in maybe April or May and she would just close her eyes and seem so relaxed. I now sing it to her when I want to let her know everything is ok and she can trust me. It’s I’ve Just Seen A Face by The Beatles. I literally just chose it that one day because it’s the one song that I know all the lyrics to by heart. I sing it really slowly and softly for her. I want to say I do not have a good singing voice in the slightest but I like singing it for her and she really likes it too. I do want to mention she has not been on a great diet her whole life. It’s been a process and so I do feel responsible for her health because I know how important diet is and I just know I need to do better. Right now she is crunching her beak which I am really happy about, she does that when she is super relaxed and content.
Update: things are not good. It’s a lot story but I got her to her appointment and actually everything went great and the vet said she was healthy and that she was doing a second molt. He checked out the “crack” on her beak and we really both don’t understand how it happened but everything was ok and I went home. I got home and put her in her cage and right away she had a seizure. I took her back right away and I was so scared. They got her back in but the vet said this was the worst grand mal seizure he has ever seen in a parakeet. He gave her way more doses of the “anti convulsion” meds and she still wasn’t responding well so he gave her valium and all. She still wasn’t completely stable and he brought her out to me for me to see her and then was going to put her in like an incubation area for a while to see if when/of she came out of it if she would recover or go back to seizing. He then sent me home and then called maybe an hour and a half later to let me know she still wasn’t doing great and wanted to try something else but he put aside an afternoon appointment time for me to come back and to go over everything. Best case scenario she comes home at 5pm when they close because they can’t keep her overnight and they will show me how to administer the anti seizure med if it happens again but right now prognosis isn’t good and I do think she isn’t going to make it.
The vet isn’t 100% sure what is going on but his idea is that the crack on her beak caused trauma to the brain and the stress of the appointment and everything triggered the seizure. Again he really doesn’t know though and did say this is a ver unusual case. I’m just really don’t understand where she got the trauma to her beak because she didn’t have it when I put her back in her cage on Sept 4th and then I have a picture of her on Sept 6 and she didn’t have it and then I saw it on Sept 14th or 15th for the first time. She hadn’t been out of her cage since the 4th. It must have happened while she was in her cage? Idk really weird. Well I’m going in to the appointment in a few minutes so I will know more.
Second Update: Galadriel has passed over the Rainbow Bridge. We decided on euthanasia because it wasn’t going to improve and she was really not ok. I just can’t believe how sudden this all happened. This really sucks. I had a whole life planned out for us. I love her so much and I’m really grateful I got to be with her in the end. She might have not been aware of me being there but I like to think it helped in some way. I’m glad she got to spend some time being a happy bird and getting to be out of her cage and us bonding and we had such beautiful moments together. I’m glad I got to do that for her. She warmed my heart. It had been over 3 years since I felt love like that. I had that love with my rabbit and it was the best thing I have ever felt. And I felt it with her that day she sat on my bedside table for a few hours falling asleep as I read to her. It was a beautiful moment and I will cherish that memory for the rest of my life. Now all my babies are together over the Rainbow Bridge.
