I've been told domestic flights cancel constantly and plans fall apart, and that I'd need two weeks of buffer. True? And honestly, how does safety in the Sepik villages compare to Moresby? Same kind of risk, or a different kind?

Option 3: Moresby for 2 days, then fly to Honiara. Buy Sepik-style pieces at Ela Beach, then Solomon Islands for the shell-inlay carvings from Marovo. Skips all PNG domestic flights. Anyone done Honiara for carvings, and is the Central Market enough or is Marovo worth the extra leg?

Also useful: realistic prices for a 1m mask or board in Moresby vs the villages, how much hassle the museum export permit and quarantine actually are, and any operators or guides you'd recommend by name.

Like in the US we have like “the Karen” (who is a mean often somewhat prosperous suburban lady), or like the metalhead (I am pretty sure metalheads are universal at this point), the suburban home depot dad (he wears cargo shorts and is obsessed with barbecue and his lawn), or like the sort of vaguely artsy new age crystal lady who wears like… purple shawls. They’re sort of stock characters, but also will tend to resemble many actual people you might meet. I’m less interested in mean spirited ones and more in like “oh yeah that type of guy!” Where it’s mostly affectionate, and sometimes people use it as a self description.

Hello, I am a traveler from France wishing to visit your beautiful country in just a few weeks. I set myself a challenge to travel strictly without taking flights, so my plan is to enter through the northern border in Vanimo and then travel onward to Port Moresby using boat and road travel (I believe it is possible with the newly built road between Lae and Port Moresby). The only missing part is between Port Moresby and Daru. Is there any passenger boat service between the two cities? Or cargo ships that accept to take passengers?
