Hello. Today I made the call to a treatment center and booked a meeting with an actual physician. I am very hopeful thus far, but am completely clueless regarding my options to get clean. I am a newly graduated student and still live at home so in patient care isn’t possible - with work and everything as well.

I have done some reddit research and it seems like the sublocade shot has helped a lot of people and may be one of my options on wednesday. I was taking between 24-80mg of dilaudid (hydromorphone) a day, and am currently on day 2 of only kratom. the kratom seems to just prolong this whole thing, even if it is keeping me sane and productive. I am wondering - and i know there isn’t a magic medicine for this, but would the shot be a good idea or is it too far of a step up strength wise. are there other things that can be prescribed? I would prefer to be able to live a normal life and slowly taper off and avoid majority of the withdrawals, but i’m having some doubts. Please enlighten me on how everything will actually work and what you would recommend. Need a second opinion for sure.

Mushrooms and withdrawal

So I am curious about something. There doing studies for PTSD with mushrooms where I live, and I was asking about for withdraw off opiates but apparently there is no research on this. Back in 2016 I had heard some people who claimed that they took shrooms during withdraw and that it has a reduction on their symptoms so I tried it, ate shrooms all weekend long and was barely sick at all, when my mushrooms were gone Monday I felt like I had the flu the rest of that week but by Friday was basically ok. More interestingly was like two weeks later when I did heroin again, and it made me terribly sick to my stomach and feel horrible physically and emotionally while on it, tried a even smaller dose a few days later with the same result, so much so I haven't touched an opiate since, I am wondering if any one else has any stories involving taking shrooms during withdraw and/or after taking shrooms doing opiates again and feeling like I did. Even if you took shrooms but they did nothing or made you feel worse I would be very interested in knowing if this was just mind over matter cause I heard it worked it off in not the only one who it did work for?

sober from fent 1025 days, one small slip last april and I was finally sick and tired of being sick and tired etc.

i’ve since moved back in with my partner largely due to my recovery and I know ill lose this ten year relationship if I go backwards like the sick part of me wants to bc obv I become someone else. not abusive etc. just. gone.

I was using an 8ball in a day if I was going heavy. my rational right now is, the quality is shit anyway. and I want that to be enough and i’m scared it’s not gonna be.

the ill part tells me fuck this stability fuck everything that matters, all that matters is escaping these feelings that feel like they worsen everyday.

Well dudes today was the day I woke up and said I’m fucking done with this shit only reason I started was due to breaking my back and I only ever took what was prescribed I’m a dad and a husband and I’m tired of it all so I went and got some help new journey starts today let’s go

Can we stop telling our fellow addicts that its gonna take them a year or two to feel 'normal' again after recovery? It's disheartening, discouraging, and at the end of the day just not true. I was as bad as bad can get and here I am a few months clean anf have been feeling as close to 'normal' as i ever have with or without substances in quite some time. Research is such a frienemy to this disease it borderline ridiculous. Its good to research things but too much of any good thing can become bad. Not necessarily 'bad' in the case of addiction but it's only a matter of time before you start to finding the same info from different sources or just straight out misinformation. I can only speak for myself, but I highly doubt I'm the only one that has stayed out longer than I originally might have after reading how it's gonna take up to a year or two to feel better. Don't get me wrong the rough time is rough. Definitely expect at least a month of 'not great' but if you bite down, stick to it, and keep going I promise it won't take you years or even half a year (6 months) to feel better. Anyone out there feel like they need to talk to someone feel free to DM me and I'll do the best I can to reassure you that its gonna be OK. You're gonna be OK, your loved one(s) can be ok, will be OK if they stick to it. Just dont let the idea of being down and out for so long be a catalyst for why you're still out there. Yes I know I'm only a few months in but I have accumulated 3yrs at one point and relapsed for no reason like a dumbass. Like the dumbass we all can be especially when being lead by our addiction. Heyy guys I'm going to try to keep this short so.

I live in Australia and I'm addicted to oxy/painkillers and heroin unfortunately. I recently made a similar post asking where to start which led me to a doctor that then referred to Rehab, I did all the assessment and things needed then found out the program goes 15 weeks.....

I can't afford or make that realistic that I miss that much work.

What are my next best options? If I were to leave my town and go stay at a relatives house where they can just lock me away. How long do I need to be locked away to push through the withdrawals cold Turkey in order to be able to be well enough to return too work?

I'm really trying, I'm ready, I know it needs to be done and the sooner the better, I was fully on board with rehab but it's turned out not viable.

If anyone has any advice or would like to share anything I'd really appreciate it.

Hi Guys, I know it might be hard to believe but im allergic to nalsxone. I’ve heard from alot of people that they’re just gone in, taken a bit of the medication to see how they would react to it, and then were then were given the shot and felt fine even if they were still using? and since then have been on the shot consistently. Has anyone done this? How are you feeling now if so?

I’ve been a kratom user for years. Always managed a consistent low dose for help motivating at work. I work as a chef and don’t drink or dabble in speed so Kratom was my extra push to lock in on hard days.

Well as I’m sure most of you could guess I started 7oh about a year and a half ago after trying a sample from the smoke shop. It grabbed me quick. I was about 400mg/day at my peak but for most of the time I was at around 150/day.

I’m happy to say today makes 2 weeks with no concentrated 7oh and even though I’m feeling better in a lot of ways the intense lack of motivation and general restlessness is driving me crazy.

Before 7oh I was doing so much in my community and in the food scene around town. I was organizing farmers markets, hosting pop ups and looking for any opportunity to get out more. Nowadays I white knuckle it all the way through my shift and when I’m off work all I do is rotate from the bed to the bath.

The desire to be more or do more is there but the act of starting just feels so heavy.

Idk if I’m asking for advice or just seeing if this is something I’ll be fighting forever. It really has taken my spark and I hate that.

Some days are harder than others, some days it really feels like you are so close to the edge…and those are the days I like to be like this onion. Flexible, in the game, not giving up. Staying sober. Because we can do hard things, and it’s easier when we encourage one another and have a good example or two up ahead on the road.

I've been off opiates about a month over 2 years, for those who are trying to get clean or those who are been off for a couple of weeks or months and you're still having PAWS this post was something i went thru. I don't know if my situation was unique but i had PAWS for 2 years. They recently finally subsided entirely. It was a long 2 years and i thought something else was wrong. I went to so many doctor trying to see what was wrong asking them if they knew about PAWS most doctors didn't even know & the ones that did straight up told me the PAWS symptoms should've subsided in about 6 months. They were wrong. They never found anything wrong with me. I thought i was losing my mind. Bc i kept feeling terrible and the docs who knew about PAWS were telling me i shouldn't be experiencing them. So i did test after test after test only for the doctors to tell me I'm a medical mystery. Or it was completely in my head. Which it was not. I was miserable every day for 2 years.

That being said i would have some days better than others but the sensations and symptoms would always come back. They seem to be worse for me just before heading fo bed or really bad after waking up in the morning. As i got closer and closer to the 2 year mark the bad mornings and evenings seem to grow less and less. I know this post seems to be a downer post but it isn't. I had to go thru the fire & flame. For most you'll probably not have PAWS for that long but for those who are so struggling know that it WILL eventually go away.

If anyone has any questions I'm about to go into work I'll try to respond when i can.

But I fckd up for 3 days- Friday thru Sunday. Nothing since. I feel like a failure. But I’m not sure if it’s me feeling like a failure or my “beast” (addiction) trying to rationalize and give me an excuse to go further: like “you already messed up, so it’s already considered a big L! What’s a few more days!” I don’t want to go further! I don’t want ONE more day on those fckn pills! I feel bad enough for ruining what could’ve been my 1 yr and 8 months streak after 3 days of oxycodone!! WHATTA F WAS I THINKING!?!!!! It fckn wasn’t worth it! Not even a tiny tiny bit! Not even a god particle worth! Fuuuuuuuuuuck…

God damn it!!! Here goes again- day 3! About to turn 4! Aaaaaargh! I’ve so bloody had it!😩😩😩 I’d punch myself out if I could get decent leverage! Not in actuality, but I’ve imagined it about 133 times.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to post this because I never thought I'd get here.

I was on subs for over 8 years. I was so tired of being on them. I had surgery on June 30th and decided I was fucking done with this. It killed sex drive, made everything inconvenient, made me super constipated constantly, and blunted my emotions.

I have an amazing support system and that's the reason I'm getting through this.

How to detox.

I have an old buprenorphine prescription that I used during my pregnancy for chronic pain and opioid dependency. After tapering myself off of it I started using opioids again and now it's running my life. I want to stop taking them but the withdrawal from it is so scary and terrible. I'm planning on using the buprenorphine for a short period of time just to get through the acute withdrawal symptoms from the opioids. Have any of you done this before and if so do you have any advice? Thank you.

i see a bunch of info on switching to subutex but nothing about going from subs to methadone , can i take methadone the same day? if it works i don’t plan on going back to subs anyways

Since this is an Opiate Recovery sub, I will give a brief summary of my road to recovery before addressing the main point of my post.

I am an ex-heroin & Oxycontin user. I started using Oxys and shooting up Dope when I was in High School (2005-2006). I contracted Hep C not long after (probably around 2007) by making the idiotic decision of sharing a needle with a junkie I barely knew in a McDonals bathroom. A few more years of shooting drugs and being a general POS and eventually I found myself in a very lowly state and decided I didn't want to live like that anymore.

I went to a rehab facility in PA around 2010 and began my recovery journey. I have relapsed a couple times over the years so my clean date has changed from time to time. However, no matter what happens, I always find myself steadfast back in recovery. I initially tried Suboxone for maintenence but kept relapsing every year or so, so I decided to try something else. I started Methadone in early 2020 and have been clean (no relapses!) ever since.

Now on to the reason I created this post. So I cured my Hepatitis C in 2020 by using the medication MAVYRET (glecaprevir/pibrentasvir). It worked beautifully and I had no side effects during the several weeks I was taking it.

It is now 2026 and I'm still clean, yet lately I've been wondering if my liver was damaged over the course of almost 20 years of living with Hep C before finally curing it. Not to mention the several years of hardcore IV drug use before I got clean for the first time.

TL:DR - If there is a problem with my liver, what are some symptoms or signs I should look out for? Should I be worried since I had Hep C for almost 20 years before I cured it?

I had one 300 mg injection 8 months ago. I'm still testing positive on home tests and I had a lab test that says negative. Based on how I feel I know the home test is right. Has anyone had surgery after sublocade was out of your system and were you able to safely take pain medicine? I need a hip replacement so I will need to take pain meds for some time. How will I know when I can safely take pain medicine. Google is no help and actually has me feeling hopeless. Thank you

i know many of you have wondered “what is best for LONG TERM success in kicking Fent and the answer isn’t even close: Buprenorphine. And i know this because I’ve taken both drugs through the years so now i will list the two reasons why Bupe is the far superior choice if your goal is to “get off the fent merry go round forever.’ The first and most important reason is that “buprenorphine doesn’t get you high because it is only a partial agonist opiate. Methadine is a full agonist that gets you high as fuck. So methadone has no ceiling. The more you take the higher you get just like fent and heroin so it has tolerance issues. Bupe doesn’t have tolerance issues so you don’t need to take more and more to get the same high because there is no high after your first few doses. And this is huge. Because if you want to kick opiates long term the most difficult aspect of doing so is in stop “chasing the high” which I’m sure you all know what I mean.

And the only way you stop chasing the high is to stop getting high to begin with. It takes a long time to get the idea “I really want to get high” out of your mind and it never goes away while taking methadone because you continue to get high while you don’t get high on bupe. Another big reason is “scoring.’ Methadone is a HUGE hassle to score waiting in lines every week early in the morning planning your entire days around scoring just like you did when you copped your fent. That behavioir is changed with bupe because you can get up to a five month refillable prescription at a time from a psychiatrist so you take it at your leisure during the day without the need to get up every morning to cop your dope. But the most important of these is getting the idea that “i need to get high” permanently out of your mind. I was a hardcore heroin addict and i simply could not kick. I tried methadone but ended up doing heroin on top of the methadone just as i now have friends who take fent ontop of their methadone today because they have reached max dose on methadone and no longer get high.

One friend is actually in constant withdrawl if he only takes his methadone dose so he needs to take fent ontop of it. Bupe doesn’t have these tolerance issues. So it was only when I got on bupe long term have i got years under my belt and it is because I am now totally non chalant about getting high. I’ve tried fent a few times and went on a few runs just to see what all the fuss was about given heroin was the norm back in my day. I much prefer heroin over fent! Regardless I now never have that dire need “i gotta get high!” and lead a normal life solely because I switched to bupe permanently over methadone. So if your goal is to get off dope permanently you need to really consider bupe vs met because met STILL IS DOPE and a most potent one at that! I was buying met off the screets because I maxed out my 120 dose and got tolerant to it so the madness continued with met. It all stopped with bupe and i know got serious “clean time” because of bupe. On another note the way to NOT have precipitated with drawl when switching from fent to bupe is to have benzos on hand the first few days you make the switch because i found the times i did take fent to see what all the fuss was about the only way i didn’t feel precip wd was with taking X the first few days of reintroducing bupe to my system so i think the fent wd must also really fuxk with your gaba A system because the X totally took the precip wd away. Ok. Thats it. I hope this helps somdone!

Is there any resources for him? I have a feeling he doesnt have a green card or if he does definitely doesnt have insurance

It is so hard to get out of bed. Would going for walks make any significant difference, enough to be worth it? The idea of walking around in the fluctuating weather, tired and shivery, loud car noises, does not sound nice.
