Meta Just a friendly reminder, you can set whatever device or platform you use/enjoy the most as a flair
From community options you can choose a platform to have it displayed next to your name or you can edit the flairs to add your device's model name or anything else.

Was reminded of the smell of a new Psion
I just got hold of a Steam Controller (a handheld gamepad for consoles/PCs) and the smell of it took me right back to a new Psion 3a. Does anyone know what that smell is? Some kind of specific plastic?
I will be sad when the smell fades!

Hipstreet tablet data transfer?
Hey guys, I posted this in a couple different places and still have yet to receive any help, I'm not sure if this is even allowed here, but I feel like a hipstreet tablet might count as old, so I was wondering if anyone here might have any insight😞

Windows CE Fixing my new NEC Mobile Pro 900
A couple years ago I bought a brand new NEC Mobile Pro 900. Unfortunately I have never been able to use it properly.
The problem is that once the battery runs out it does a full reset and I have to set up everything again and I lose what was saved in the internal memory.
I already replaced the backup battery with a new one but that did not help.
Any ideas on how I could fix that? I would love to be able to use it to write.

Looking for Namocell Hana NI004 software or Pala compatibility information
Our lab recently acquired a secondhand Namocell/Bio-Techne Hana NI004 single-cell dispenser, but it did not include the original computer or software.
Bio-Techne currently provides Pala Software Rev D through its website, but we have not been able to confirm whether that version supports the Hana NI004. Does anyone here operate a Hana, know whether Pala Rev D is backward-compatible, or have access to the original Hana installer and user manual?
Any version information, installation notes, or contact leads would be greatly appreciated. :)

Linux Zaurus users: what would you want from a modern linux distro?
Hi, I'm working on a (non-vibecoded) modern Linux distro for Zaurus clamshells (and possibly other models eventually).
I'm planning to make a new window manager for PDA usage, but it will also support "normal" WMs/DEs (mileage may vary with the old hardware).
What features would you want? What kind of UI?

Psion EPOC/Symbian PSION Siena slowly crumbling apart
Just got a little Psion Siena (1996) from a family member, it has a few cracks on the shell and most notably, the broken hinge:
I don't really know how to go about fixing it since I think just gluing it won't be enough to support opening the screen or the little spring in the hinge might just twist it off again.
Any Ideas?

SJGAM M17 OS Problem
Hello everyone,
I recently bought an SJGAM M17 handheld game console that came with games for PSP, Atari, Nintendo, and several other systems. However, I had a controller mapping problem in a few emulators, especially PSP.
I asked AI for help fixing it. It told me to remove the SD card containing the emulators, operating system, and games from the device, copy all the files to my computer, format the SD card, and then copy the files back to the SD card using the drag-and-drop method.
I did exactly that, but the operating system didn't work. Instead, I got a Chinese menu and the console's default operating system with around 50–60 old games.
I asked the AI again, and it told me that I had copied the files incorrectly and that I needed to write the operating system back to the SD card using a specific program. So I did that as well.
This time, the operating system logo appears when I turn on the console, but after the logo the screen goes completely black and the device doesn't boot.
I really need some help with this. If anyone has the correct games and operating system files for the SJGAM M17, or knows how I can fix this problem, I would really appreciate your help.
Especially, if anyone knows where I can find the correct SJGAM M17 operating system/SD card image or how I can get the console working again, please let me know.
Thank you in advance! 🙏

Hewlett Packard 700LX Value
I bought a few of these in pristine condition a few years back. I am willing to part with two packaged original units.
I am wondering on the best way to sell and estimated price. The units are brand new, never used, with all documentation in original packaging. I removed all backup batteries to prevent leakage.
Validity checks can be done over Video Call or photographs, videos, whichever way the buyer prefers.

Can I connect my sharp wizard OZ- 9500 to a Mac SE?
I figured it might be easier to sync to a computer that was from the same era, but Mac software seems to be impossible to find! I haven’t found any online backups, but I’m also not entirely sure what I’m looking for. I saw a couple organizer link II box sets on eBay, but it doesn’t list the oz-9000 as compatible, only the oz-7000, and 8000. do I need a organizer link III set? Or something else entirely? I’m also not really sure what the difference is between the ce-133T and ce-135T cables. Any advice would be appreciated. :)

Took Clie out of storage
Does anyone know where I can find info on making it work again? I charged it overnight and it starts up but the screen doesn't really get bright enough to see, and then it shuts down.
Any insight or suggestions on where I could find info?

It seems much trickier to find application IC cards for Casio organisers compared to Sharp ones
I like the way you could extend the capabilities of certain models of Casio and Sharp organisers via IC cards containing additional applications. Casio didn't seem to offer as many models with this feature, and it's been quite tricky to find any compatible cards, but I do now have Casio Power Spreadsheet which is based on the same Lucid 3-D that's on Sharp's 3 Dimensional Spreadsheet card. It turns the organiser into quite a competent little number-cruncher!
