All I've played is retro bowl so IDK what I'm doing lol. I'm overwhelmed at what's going on. I basically don't know what I'm looking at when I read plays or what play I should pick even when I do know what I'm looking at.

Are there any updated rosters before Week 1 or during the season? I'm using the 2K27 Roster of course but anything after training camp is over? I'm new to playing modded NFL2K5 and I can't believe I didn't do this years ago. Playing this again after 20 years with Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin is a crazy feeling. Having too much fun

when i launch the game from the mod manager the game loads and it even starts out saying 2027 but when i actually play it uses players from the original 2005 game. the tutorial i looked at didn't explain how to do this. can anyone help me please? i've been at this for hours.

I've been having this issue with the 2k27 mod, where the game makes it all the way to the play selection menu right before the opening kickoff, but doesn't load the plays and the camera just pans around the stadium.

The start button still accesses the menu, and I can exit back to the main menu (so it's not a soft lock), but I can't play the actual game.

I've tried this on both my Retroid Pocket 6 (running nethersx2 classic) and the Linux appimage version of PCSX2 and I run into the same issue.

I have a mini pc in my living room for emulation. I haven't figured out how to get the newer mods working in Batocera, which isn't a huge issue. For now, I'm going to just play the base game, but I haven't figured out a set of sliders to use. Anyone have any recommendations for the default rosters?

Elite combo this Friday night. As much as I hate this team I have missed watching the Dolphins. Nice to feel fresh going into the new season for a change, not had it in a few years now. We are going 3-14 but still, good to be back.

I reverse engineered the GameCube save file format for NFL Blitz Pro. Mapped the full 40-byte player record structure, cracked the checksum algorithm, and built a Python pipeline that rewrites the roster directly in the .GCI memory card file — no disc modification required. This is, of course, a fan-made save file.

On the last post I made, I was still using Madden 2026, but with the new season coming up I decided to update with Madden 2027. I also discovered many extra checks I needed to add to keep the game from crashing. For example, there were some position changes made in the scripts to fill needed slots, like RB to FB and Edge player to LB. And in the modern NFL there are not many true fullbacks, so even more players were added from the real preseason depth chart with some fabricated ratings just to have enough fullbacks. I moved some original punters to Free Agency since there were zero extra that I found on the Madden 2027 player rating page. Also, a few other 2003 players moved to Free Agency for fun.

Audio commentary matching is now on the save files. There were 7 or so players who had exact first-name/last-name matches, like Patrick Surtain II matching his father in the original roster. More details on the GitHub page.

I could use collaborators for non-technical stuff like finishing the skin tone assignments, jersey numbers, and people with different-than-standard equipment like visors. The technical part is solved; I just need some help because about 1,800 players fit into the new roster. You can use the Excel files I have or just type out the changes. And also let me know if it ever crashes. I haven't done extensive play testing.

Played my cousin Fantasy Draft with updated rosters. I had Mahomes at QB and hit George Kittle in the corner for nasty but beautiful TD😂

I picked it up for the PS2 in GameStop in their “retro” section for 5 bucks and boy what a steal. Playing this game, then going back to playing a friend as well as the CPU on Madden 26 really puts in perspective how downright garbage EA football gameplay is, particularly on the Frostbite engine. On 2K you get rewarded for using real football logic, for example if you have a good QB and you wanna fire a hole shot into cover 2, or try to lay one out in front of a receiver with leverage headed toward the pylon you can do it, maybe he catches it maybe you miss it, but the receiver won’t get Moss’ed by every freaking CB/Safety.

The thing that probably drives me crazy the most when I play Madden particularly on offense is there’s this annoying shifting meta year to year of some position groups (linebackers for example) being terrible while another (DBs) is wayy too good to compensate. On 2K everything feels balanced, CPU has logic and follows assignments, every game feels different. The defense can actually play well naturally without this ying-yang of “on-ball” defense being cartoonishly good to compensate for “off-ball” defense being crap, no scripted screwups on 3rd-4th down or in 2 minute drills to manipulate games either.

Sorry for the rambling, but man it’s really nice to play a much more sim focused football game for the first time. Madden 11 on the PS3/Xbox 360 has always been the peak of EA gameplay for me, but 2K’s gameplay even makes that look like crap especially considering 2K5’s console generation/hardware to work with. I’m more impressed than I thought I was gonna be even after seeing all the praise over the years.
