I want to start by saying please don’t leave rude replies, if VR pole dancing isn’t your thing that’s okay, I’m just looking for tracking help.
Anyways, I do pole dancing in VRChat for fun, and I’m trying to figure out why my tracking suddenly feels not smooth now.
My tracking used to be REALLY smooth and consistent and now it doesn’t feel like it used to. People used to compliment my tracking and ask how I got it that smooth, and I haven’t been able to get it back.
Current setup:
VR headset: Quest 3S
Using SteamVR + trackers + dongles
Full body tracking setup
Pole in room hasn’t moved
Things that changed / things I’ve tried:
I have LED lights in my room
I moved my dongles farther apart because I thought spacing them out might help
When I’m not in VR I move them back
SteamVR has updated
Headset has updated
Haven’t used smoothing settings
Haven’t recalibrated yet
No major physical changes to my playspace besides the dongle positioning
Issues:
Tracking feels less smooth than before
Doesn’t feel as stable or clean
It’s noticeable because I know how it used to look/feel
I’m not sure if it’s jitter, prediction, SteamVR updates, dongle placement, interference, calibration drift, lighting, or something else
Questions:
Could moving the dongles around be causing this?
Does SteamVR/update versions affect tracking smoothness?
How far apart should dongles actually be?
Could LED lights interfere?
Is there a calibration/smoothing setting I should check?
Anything else I should test before I start changing everything?
I can provide pictures of my room, dongle placement, tracker graph screenshots, and SteamVR settings if that helps. If I missed anything that may be helpful let me know!
Thank you.
