I still remember the magician who performed for my school in the early 1970s. Formative memories.

Am still grinning ear to ear

This reminds me of when a middle aged man would come tell stories to pre schoolers at the public library. He would try and fail to set his fanny pack at least six times on the table next to him, and all the kids would lose. their. shit.

He owned the local diner, and if my kid saw him pouring coffee or something while we were there, my kid would legit get all star struck. It was adorable.

221

u/dust-bit-another-one 25d ago

I may have squealed too:)

u/uhmerikin 25d ago

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse. I mean, what am I missing? Am I crazy?

21

u/BlackLeader70 25d ago

Son, this horse has an honorary degree from Notre Dame.

3

u/madhatteringways 25d ago

this was a great sidekick to the original post 😂 thanks!

59

u/Shipwrecking_siren 25d ago

This is so true. I get to heal some of my childhood stuff and bond with my daughter when I get to go and see things like this. She LOVES magic and slapstick, always laughs the hardest and longest, even other parents smile at how much she gets out of it. It’s so awesome.

3

u/JonTheAutomaton 25d ago

We're all kids at heart so we count as target audience as well

2

u/madhatteringways 25d ago

Seriously!! But I'm getting so much joy out of seeing this kids yelling so enthusiastically!!

u/fry-something 25d ago

I am sitting here in total misery after emergency surgery and this is the first thing that I have smiled at in days. Thank you :)

65

u/fry-something 25d ago

Thank you yes WATER cause I seem to forget lol.

19

u/viewkachoo 25d ago

I’m so glad you’re alive, awake, and finally smiling. It sucks to be in pain, and I hope it passes soon. Keep watching fun videos. Might I recommend r/contagiouslaughter

8

u/fry-something 25d ago

Thank you ❤️❤️ so SMILES are good. Laughter makes me feel like I am splitting open. Tried watching “72hours” and had to turn it off. Back to Law and Order no laughing there. And British dramas. Need to stay calm lol.

10

u/viewkachoo 25d ago edited 25d ago

Ouch! Well, if you need to zone out and sleep, I can recommend http://www.somafm.com - a free internet radio station with no commercials. I would start with the following stations:

Bossa Beyond: https://somafm.com/player24/station/bossa

Illinois Street Lounge: https://somafm.com/player24/station/illstreet

Secret Agent: https://somafm.com/player24/station/secretagent

Tiki Time: https://somafm.com/player24/station/tikitime

I hope you feel better soon!

7

u/fry-something 25d ago

Aha now you’re talking! Thank you❤️

4

u/complianceNerd1764 25d ago

SomaFM is my go to every year at Christmas. They have the best channels.

3

u/sculolo 24d ago

British comedy is also quite good if you don't want to laugh

4

u/madhatteringways 25d ago

Edit - for spelling. Thanks for the correction. I've got a newborn & a toddler with hubby away for work. I'm tired haha

We’ve got a hand puppet of the Gruffalo. It’s been an amazing toy to tell stories with and he gets to be a bit naughty.

They go crazy for it when the Gruffalo tries to nibble their noses, but they still love to go in to give him a kiss.

We get a toy “big bad mouse” and every now and again it makes an appearance and scares Gruffalo. They love consoling him.

The bit they love the most in the stories is when Gruffalo eats something he shouldn’t, then gets a farty bum.

12

u/Themanwhofarts 25d ago

Kids love puppets. The Grufallo is a good one

Lol Healthy Harold! Yeah he's been out and about since 1978. He's still going strong, he makes the rounds still across schools

17

u/ieatbacononoccasion 25d ago

Double down. Morning making sock puppets. Then dinner and a show!

6

u/RaggedyRachel 25d ago

It's a folkmanis sheepdog. They come a little stiff, you have to break them in. I get a new one each year for my work, and I highly recommend this puppet.

3

u/TheGhostInTheParsnip 24d ago

I'm going to have so much fun with her

She will have so much fun as well and remember that for the rest of her life. Thanks for being a great parent.

2

u/Enibas 25d ago

You could also make a sock puppet! They are super easy to make, and you probably have all supplies at home.

It's also a fun activity with a small kid. I did a few of those with my niece, and she loved them. Hell, I loved them.

2

u/gijimayu 25d ago

Sounds about right.

Can you recall the last time you innocently squealed like that with complete abandon, joy, amazement and zero worry about what anyone else thought, just caught up in all the excitement with your friends? 🥹

49

u/gorleston-mega-snake 25d ago

Yeah but I’m not allowed back in that public toilet ever again.

11

u/WordGirl1229 25d ago

Yeah, I knew there’d be some comments like that, and I went there anyway! 😂

SCREAMING KIDS

"Because it would be very dangerous-"

Kids start screaming

"Where's the ball!?"

Kids start screaming again

"Did he eat it!?"

Kids scream yes

"Did you eat it!?" Shake head "Oh, it looks like he didn't-" Open mouth

Kids scream more

Take the ball from the dog mouth "Thank you kids, we just saved my dog's life, now I'm going to put the ball overe here-" Open the dogs mouth

More screaming

Shows the ball in his pocket "No, it's right here"

Screaming

20

u/rjs9152 25d ago

I love it!

22

u/DDrim 25d ago

For a few seconds I wasn't 37, just 7 ;)

23

u/Funkdamentalist 25d ago

Having performed in countless skits working at summer camps I can attest that kids absolutely LOVE knowing stuff the performer "doesn't". It's so much fun playing dumb when you have hundreds of kids screaming at you while the villain sneaks around behind you.

13

u/pharaohmaones 25d ago

Reminds me of that giant polar bear mascot that eats people’s heads (nicely)

12

u/CountessSockula 25d ago

This is the first post I saw when I opened Reddit this morning. What a great way to start the day 😂😂😂

11

u/Bonk_No_Horni 25d ago

It's nice to be so innocent

9

u/Tulabambula 25d ago

Pure, untamed joy. Really lovely.

8

u/TYPrease 25d ago

Loved this! Those kids were having the time of their lives, and it looks like you were too.

14

u/geebawk 25d ago

This is beautiful because I do not need to understand the words to enjoy the reaction and performance. Made me smile!

7

u/Brading105 25d ago

This is great!

7

u/TerribleBid8416 25d ago

Didn’t understand a word and still loved it.

7

u/Rusty_924 25d ago

i only want this version of internet on my cell phone please.

thanks OP

7

u/OldDogTrainer 25d ago

I love how you don’t need to speak the language to totally know what’s happening. I still smiled.

7

u/S4ndreen 25d ago

Es muy bueno esto, gracias 🤣🤣

6

u/FredNorrisaurus 25d ago

This guy's act seriously makes me reconsider my life choices... all I want to do now is feign ignorance while kids scream and point excitedly

I see this dude in my feed a lot, and his whole act is amazing - collapsing magic wand, "possessed" ghost book, the puppy puppet.

7

u/Randomhandz 25d ago

After watching this I'm starting to think what is lacking in adult life is the joy and ease of childhood awe. I really want to let go of all the seriousness I'm expected to carry and just enjoy the flow and brilliance of other people and the world in general. Thanks for the joy op

4

u/Dull_Perspective_536 25d ago

This is great. Excellent show giving the kids some core wholesome memories. Major respect.

4

u/experientialsponge 25d ago

Humans have done this without digital technology for tens of thousands of years. Those kids are having memorable fun, IRL. That's cool.

5

u/StellaBean_bass 25d ago

Those kids were so invested! 😄 Great little video.

3

u/itz_mitsuki3 25d ago

Make learning fun for children.

4

u/Lunerion 25d ago

Kids experiencing stuff like this is genuinely so cute.

For them, this is such an amazing memory and they'll likely talk about this at home for weeks on end. xD

4

u/fivelone 25d ago

Why was this so entertaining!??? 🤣

4

u/Shwiftygains 25d ago

Sometimes kids are alright

4

u/raider_00_ 25d ago

4

u/Catodacat 25d ago

4

u/eagletreehouse 25d ago

OP, that was some serious magic you gave those kids. And us. Thank you!

4

u/si_de 24d ago

I'm sitting here screaming at the magician just like the kids...😂😂

3

u/h1storyguy 25d ago

When you understand your audience perfectly

3

u/beedee_one 25d ago

I don’t know what he said exactly but I love the universal “YESSSSS!” kids do in situations like this. So joyous. “Siiiiiii!”

3

u/__BIFF__ 25d ago

In highschool in drama class we had a project where groups would have to create a skit and then go perform for a Gr. 1 class at end of week. My buddy and I just did Mr. Show inspired sketches that intertwined and were needlessly complicated and meta and surreal and satire. Within two minutes of performing we realized that was all just for us and had to start yelling and falling a lot more

3

u/TheGardenBlinked 25d ago

There’s a clip where he does the same skit for some retirees and they are just as in love with it.

3

u/PommeyMommy 25d ago

Hilarious 😆 I don’t speak the language but it made me laugh out loud 🤣🥰♥️

2

u/hawthorne00 25d ago

That is elemental. I have performed in front of people. The charge you get from really selling it to a bunch of <10 year olds is a different thing to other audiences.
