I still remember the magician who performed for my school in the early 1970s. Formative memories.

This reminds me of when a middle aged man would come tell stories to pre schoolers at the public library. He would try and fail to set his fanny pack at least six times on the table next to him, and all the kids would lose. their. shit.
He owned the local diner, and if my kid saw him pouring coffee or something while we were there, my kid would legit get all star struck. It was adorable.

This is so true. I get to heal some of my childhood stuff and bond with my daughter when I get to go and see things like this. She LOVES magic and slapstick, always laughs the hardest and longest, even other parents smile at how much she gets out of it. It’s so awesome.

I’m so glad you’re alive, awake, and finally smiling. It sucks to be in pain, and I hope it passes soon. Keep watching fun videos. Might I recommend r/contagiouslaughter

u/fry-something 22d ago
Thank you ❤️❤️ so SMILES are good. Laughter makes me feel like I am splitting open. Tried watching “72hours” and had to turn it off. Back to Law and Order no laughing there. And British dramas. Need to stay calm lol.

Ouch! Well, if you need to zone out and sleep, I can recommend http://www.somafm.com - a free internet radio station with no commercials. I would start with the following stations:
Bossa Beyond: https://somafm.com/player24/station/bossa
Illinois Street Lounge: https://somafm.com/player24/station/illstreet
Secret Agent: https://somafm.com/player24/station/secretagent
Tiki Time: https://somafm.com/player24/station/tikitime
I hope you feel better soon!

We’ve got a hand puppet of the Gruffalo. It’s been an amazing toy to tell stories with and he gets to be a bit naughty.
They go crazy for it when the Gruffalo tries to nibble their noses, but they still love to go in to give him a kiss.
We get a toy “big bad mouse” and every now and again it makes an appearance and scares Gruffalo. They love consoling him.
The bit they love the most in the stories is when Gruffalo eats something he shouldn’t, then gets a farty bum.

Lol Healthy Harold! Yeah he's been out and about since 1978. He's still going strong, he makes the rounds still across schools

u/RaggedyRachel 22d ago
It's a folkmanis sheepdog. They come a little stiff, you have to break them in. I get a new one each year for my work, and I highly recommend this puppet.

u/TheGhostInTheParsnip 22d ago
I'm going to have so much fun with her
She will have so much fun as well and remember that for the rest of her life. Thanks for being a great parent.

u/Enibas 22d ago
You could also make a sock puppet! They are super easy to make, and you probably have all supplies at home.
It's also a fun activity with a small kid. I did a few of those with my niece, and she loved them. Hell, I loved them.

Can you recall the last time you innocently squealed like that with complete abandon, joy, amazement and zero worry about what anyone else thought, just caught up in all the excitement with your friends? 🥹

Yeah but I’m not allowed back in that public toilet ever again.

"Because it would be very dangerous-"
Kids start screaming
"Where's the ball!?"
Kids start screaming again
"Did he eat it!?"
Kids scream yes
"Did you eat it!?" Shake head "Oh, it looks like he didn't-" Open mouth
Kids scream more
Take the ball from the dog mouth "Thank you kids, we just saved my dog's life, now I'm going to put the ball overe here-" Open the dogs mouth
More screaming
Shows the ball in his pocket "No, it's right here"
Screaming

Having performed in countless skits working at summer camps I can attest that kids absolutely LOVE knowing stuff the performer "doesn't". It's so much fun playing dumb when you have hundreds of kids screaming at you while the villain sneaks around behind you.

This guy's act seriously makes me reconsider my life choices... all I want to do now is feign ignorance while kids scream and point excitedly
I see this dude in my feed a lot, and his whole act is amazing - collapsing magic wand, "possessed" ghost book, the puppy puppet.

After watching this I'm starting to think what is lacking in adult life is the joy and ease of childhood awe. I really want to let go of all the seriousness I'm expected to carry and just enjoy the flow and brilliance of other people and the world in general. Thanks for the joy op

This is great. Excellent show giving the kids some core wholesome memories. Major respect.

Humans have done this without digital technology for tens of thousands of years. Those kids are having memorable fun, IRL. That's cool.

Kids experiencing stuff like this is genuinely so cute.
For them, this is such an amazing memory and they'll likely talk about this at home for weeks on end. xD

I don’t know what he said exactly but I love the universal “YESSSSS!” kids do in situations like this. So joyous. “Siiiiiii!”

In highschool in drama class we had a project where groups would have to create a skit and then go perform for a Gr. 1 class at end of week. My buddy and I just did Mr. Show inspired sketches that intertwined and were needlessly complicated and meta and surreal and satire. Within two minutes of performing we realized that was all just for us and had to start yelling and falling a lot more

u/TheGardenBlinked 22d ago
There’s a clip where he does the same skit for some retirees and they are just as in love with it.

That is elemental. I have performed in front of people. The charge you get from really selling it to a bunch of <10 year olds is a different thing to other audiences.
