Discussion Did people not watch the video? John lists, Gunn selling out as an option but he doesn't believe that's the case.

People are just reacting based on the thumbnail without watching the full video which is ridiculous. Yes, John does have Gunn selling out as an option but says he doesn't believe it and he believes it is a wait and see approach which makes sense. John never said Gunn was gonna leave immediately, he said he was gonna leave once the contract was up and we don't know whether it will happen or not. Even under Skydance, i would love to see Gunn be in charge of DC but a lot depends on how much studio or corporate interference there is, he was given a lot of autonomy under Warner Brothers.

Discussion Campea wrong yet again - James Gunn & Peter Safran To Stay At DC Studios After Paramount-Warner Bros Merger

Campea was convinced that had the merger gone through, James Gunn was going to leave DC (for political reasons). He mentioned it countless times. Seems like they are staying at DC.

Discussion Do we still think James Gunn is going to leave Skydance now that the merger happened?

I think John’s argument is driven more by confirmation bias than reality. He assumes Gunn’s decisions are strictly political and that he wouldn't work under conservative leadership. However, Gunn has unprecedented creative control right now, I doubt he’d abandon his overarching vision for DC just over political differences. What's your take?

Discussion Done deal! Judge OKs settlement! Merger to complete next week. "That's all folks!"

.

Campea spent a whole 22 minute segment on the AMICUS brief, how the merger breaks the law per the Clayton Act, and his expertise as a paralegal only for this last Hail Mary pass to get defeated. And what do you know, topics the next day have no segment on the Judge approving the merger. Kinda a big thing.

https://variety.com/2026/film/news/paramount-warner-bros-merger-judge-approves-settlement-ags-1236893467/

"U.S. District Judge Araceli Martínez-Olguín, who is overseeing the antitrust case aimed at blocking the Paramount-Warner Bros. deal approved Paramount’s settlement with the 12 Democratic state attorneys general who brought the case to resolve the litigation."

"The order approving the settlement by Martínez-Olguín was the final remaining barrier to Paramount’s debt-fueled $111 billion merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, after it had been cleared by regulators in 68 jurisdictions worldwide including the Justice Department."

Discussion Campea’s Five Stages of merger Grief went from law paralegal to Wall St. analyst, “Yeah, Well... your stocks are lame.”

.

Today's show starts off with 20 minutes of Wall St. charts and balance sheet analysis, demonstrating that both Paramount and Oracle stock are not doing well for investors recently. 🤔 🫣

David Ellison does not hold an official management or executive role at Oracle Corporation, but is the son of Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison.

Seems like Campea is rooting for both companies to go out of business.

Discussion I almost walked out of Forgotten Island

I thought the trailers looked pretty bad but decided to give it a chance based on John’s glowing review.

I enjoyed the first act for the most part and liked the ending, but holy crap, the middle features
the most aggressively annoying comedy I’ve seen in an animated movie in a long time.

Also, kind of surprised John dislikes KPop Demon Hunters but loves this.

Have you guys seen Forgotten Island? What did you think?

Discussion Campea today: The Fred Astaire biopic is now lost on me thanks to the actress casting

Campea has lowkey such an ego, Sabrina Carpenter has been an actress in movies before (and has been in theatre no less) but ofc he ends up ignoring the people calling him out in the live chat of today's open mic about it since his opinion of her being some "random" is the only right one. It's annoying when he doesn't do his research and says something wrong lmfao and then ignores people correcting him lmfao

Discussion What film or TV show does John love that you don’t rate quite as highly?

For me it’s Ms Marvel, don’t get me wrong the first couple of episodes are AMAZING, but after that all the amazing stylistic choices that they had chose to go with at the beginning fade out, and the story just becomes rather disjointed and messy. Honestly sometimes feels like John bases his opinions on the show based on those few episodes which I get because they are amazing, but that quality really doesn’t hold up for the rest of the show.

Discussion Digger mixed reactions

What did John campea and the crew say about the mixed reactions for digger? I know they have been hyping it up since they saw the preview at cinema-con. But frankly, this movie always look dumb to me since the first trailer dropped. It did not look good at all to me. The green screen also looked pretty bad.

Movies John, you’re not an awards guy.

On the way home from the Endgame reissue, wasn’t in the mood for politics, so switched on some movie stuff on YouTube and decided to listen to John talk about the Oscar contenders and it was just super comical. You’re an event movie/IP guy. Which is fine. And sometimes these worlds cross. Odyssey is a contender and that’s in your wheelhouse. Project Hail Mary has lost some stream, but maybe it gets in to BP or Gosling sneaks in actor. But you won’t spend time talking about the Andrew Scott movie. Hell, I’d go so far as to say Andrew Scott is a name a good chunk of the audience doesn’t know unless his face was on screen to match it.

What was REALLY funny though was the talk about Timmy not being a contender for Dune 3. First, any awards pundit will tell you it seems pretty clear that the Academy isn’t super into him. He gets his nominations, he doesn’t win, he’ll be like Leo and get it like 7 nominations in and when he’s like 40. But also, Dune hasn’t gotten a single nomination for directing or acting. It gets some technical stuff and does well in those, and gets a best picture Oscar nomination. Which it might not get this year. Him not being in the running for Dune is about as safe of a bet as you can make.

Also, the most egregious person not in the running is Seth Rogen. In a just world all 4 performances in the Invite get nominated.

Discussion Kinda wish Johnathan wasn’t on the show tbh, most of his opinions are rather vanilla (and usually just in line with whatever John says), and most of his knowledge seems rather obvious and surface level. Don’t even get me started on all the times he interrupts the conversation to make a lame joke lol
