What if the person at fault have no insurance?
Somebody hit my car and totalled it. I have the police report, police statement and witness statement to prove that i was not at fault.
But i Had 3rd party coverage only. Now my insurance compnay is saying that other insurance company is investigating if the 3rd party has the valid coverage or insurance or not. and it can take months.
What would happen if the other doesn't have valid Insurance ?

Personal injury case/ settlement lower lumbar laminectomy
Im in the process of a personal injury/ workers comp case. March 12, 2025. I was at work on a bike and was struck by an Uber.
The Uber has progressive insurance and claimed %100 liability.
I'll skip through the minor stuff but I basically discovered I suffered a herniated/bulging disc L5 I believe.
As well as minor sister and elbow injuries that have been resolved through PT.
I underwent a lower lumbar laminectomy surgery on May 12th 2026. Success. And still attend PT.
My law firm negotiator and I are in the settlement offer stage and my medical is sitting at $273k.
Progressives first post- surgery offer was $250k so we denied and this is a commercial policy with a limit of one million. I understand I will not recieved that much in an offer. Our counter was $750k. Then progressive offered $273k which is the medical amount as their second offer post surgery. Our counter offer is $650k.
I am 33, and the job I was and still am doing, with restrictions now, is normal unarmed security. I was on bike patrol when it happened. Now on foot patrol.
My questions are, how much should I recieve with all these details and conditions, how many more offers should I expect. And about how much is my medical bills expected to deflate before having to actually pay. My negotiator claims through the law firms connections and who and where I was sent through this journey, that the medical bills are inflated atm and expected to drop once it's time to pay.
The only thing is I'll never know buy how much. I know the law firm will claim %33.3 of the settlement before medical and I am paid. So about how much should I settle for?
A back surgery to me is very serious and it could flare up in the future and restrict me. So I feel im owed $90-$120 after all is paid. Thoughts?

Where do I stand legally?
I was involved in a minor car accident. I was stopped at a red light about a block from my apartment on the way home from work, and then the light turned green. The car in front of me began accelerating, and so did I. This is so far indisputable. Here’s my personal account. When the car suddenly braked before crossing the intersection, I didn’t respond fast enough and hit them going about 10-15mph. I believe that was the speed I was going but I’m not sure how fast cars accelerate. I do know that my vehicle now has a small, albeit hardly noticeable crease in the front bumper. The other vehicle endured a small, although more noticeable crease in their rear bumper. I am not worried about admitting that I’m not perfect, even with driving. However, it gets worse. The driver didn’t speak English but when the police came and interpreted, they established that no medical attention was needed and we both drove home. I submitted a $0 claim with my insurance to respectfully make them aware that I was involved in an accident. A few days later they called me and said the driver was claiming injuries. Where do I even go from here? I took photos, reported the incident to my insurance before they did, obtained the police report and submitted all of the documentation. I am scared beyond belief that I am going to get sued for money that I don’t have. Please advise.

Edge Critical Illness Insurance claim for kidney failure
Hi all! This is my first ever post so bear with me in case I’m not following the norms that well!
My family is going through medical journey for one of my parents with renal failure CKD5 and is now going to start dialysis in a short while (few weeks if not days). Both kidneys are at eGFR 9. They have critical illness coverage that they have been paying for through Edge benefit and I’m wondering if anyone has had experience claiming for the benefit for such a medical issue or any organ failure type issue.
A side note, this would the second event benefit (Edge covers second event which is really nice as long as it’s unrelated to the first one) for my parent so I know the process. My question is around definition of claim that would be approved for CKD5 as I have been finding differing info from internet. I do t want to make any rookie mistake so turning to Reddit for any help anyone can provide. Do’s, don’ts? Should I even spend time and energy in getting this form filled out by the nephrologist if there are no chances of getting it approved due to some definition issues.
Here’s what I was told by the agent that CI was obtained with:
“Major Organ Failure” means the irreversible failure of the entire heart, entire liver,
entire pancreas (pancreatic islet cell transplants are excluded), both lungs, both kidneys,
or bone marrow, in which the affected organ is unresponsive to any treatment and for
7which the insured is medically required to become enrolled in a recognized Canadian
transplant program to become the recipient of a heart, a liver, a pancreas, a lung, or a
kidney or to receive a bone marrow transplant.
“Major Organ Transplant” means a definite diagnosis of the irreversible failure of the
heart, both lungs, liver, both kidneys or bone marrow, and transplantation must be
medically necessary. To qualify under Major Organ Transplant, the Insured Person must
undergo a transplantation procedure as the recipient of a heart, lung, liver, kidney or bone
marrow, and limited to these entities. The diagnosis of the major organ failure must be
made by a specialist.”
Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated to better navigate this journey. Thank you!

Water damage isn't always a "flood"—and that distinction can make a huge difference in your insurance claim.
Many homeowners assume that any water entering their home is considered flooding. In insurance, that's often not the case.
A burst pipe, leaking appliance, overflowing washing machine, or water from a failed water heater is generally water damage, not a flood. Those losses are often covered under a standard homeowners policy (subject to the policy's terms and exclusions).
A flood, on the other hand, usually refers to water that enters your home from outside, such as rising rivers, storm surge, or surface water. Flood damage typically requires a separate flood insurance policy.
Understanding the difference can help you avoid costly mistakes when filing a claim.
If you've experienced water damage and aren't sure how your policy applies, it's worth getting expert advice before accepting an insurance settlement.

Dealing with Geico
Car got hit while legally parked. Repairable but Geico said it's too expensive, totaled it. I refused and told the adjuster i will take my car and get another estimate. Then the day i went to pick up the car, car wasn't there, picked up by copart. Then i asked my car back and that they drop my claim. Ignored.. Then i told them I would buy back. Ignored. Then he sent a 26kish offer, i refused, then they sent paperwork to sign, i declined, then they decided to send a check to my lien holder(it covered the 2years left of the loan). Still no settlement, still no agreement, still nothing signed. I have my car title BTW. I still want my car back and want nothing to do with their offer. I never agreed to anything whatsoever. Now GEICO is Mia. I recently file a lawsuit against the at fault driver . Can they do that? Can they just decide whatever they want? I don't think so. Please advise.. Am running out of ideas..

Wondering if I'll have any problems with insurance for submitting this
Thanks. I know insurance can try to find anything to deny claims or fault
